1974 Mercedes-benz 240d Sedan 4-door Nice Condition Diesel on 2040-cars
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
240D Mercedes-Benz 1974
Hello, first off, I wanted to get this listed tonight, but I will adding more details & photos over the next few days. Few free to email me questions &/or your phone #. I have a reserve, but I am open to discuss price or talk offers. Mileage states: 86,000. But it very well could be rolled over once, 186,000. I am always surprised that many buyers base their prime concern on buying of old cars on mileage alone -- when these cars only state 5 digits! I have owned this for 2 years. Here are some of the work that I have had done; new or replaced items: master cylinder radiator (new Mercedes) hoses replaced fuel filters (last month) new exhaust (last month) replaced grille & emblem I tracked down old German fog lights - (not cheapos!) battery replaced injector pump front sway bar links Items included in the sale: 2 new fenders tires new starter (in box) + lots of other micelanous items Things that could use attention: no antenna the windshield fluid pump just went down--I will try to fix it, but consider it not working turn signals work, but sometimes will not hold -- switch needs replaced. Runs smooth. It is smoky on a cold start, but then clears up (well as much as these old diesels can). It does have some light rust on bottom fenders (but I am including new ones!). & light surface rust on bottom door wells. NO ROT. Clean underneath. I drive this car daily. You can drive it home from Pittsburgh to wherever. It just needs a new home.... I have this car for sale locally & on different ads, so if you are seriously interested, please get in touch with me. |

Mercedes to roll out S65 AMG Coupe in July
Mon, 07 Apr 2014We're still a couple of weeks away from the public debut of the new Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe at the fast-approaching New York Auto Show, but already we're receiving word of an even more powerful version in the works. That, of course, would be the S65 AMG Coupe - the twelve-cylinder version of the latest S-Class Coupe, two-door counterpart to the S65 AMG sedan and replacement for the outgoing CL65 AMG.
Like the four-door version rolled out back in November, the S65 AMG Coupe would be distinguished from less powerful vehicles (which, lets face it, is just about everything) principally by its engine: a massive, 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that produces 621 horsepower, 738 pound-feet of torque and cares as much about global warming as an oil-shipping mega-tanker.
Because Merc's 4Matic all-wheel drive system can't handle that much torque, the ne plus ultra coupe would (like the S65 sedan but unlike the S63 coupe) be offered only in rear-drive form. That means it will have that much more trouble getting the power down to the road, but since the Magic Body Control suspension is similarly incompatible with 4Matic, the flagship coupe will get that trick suspension.
Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG coming to the New York Auto Show
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz showed off the CLA45 AMG at a private event on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, but was determined not to let it be photographed. We can talk about it, though - after all, a teaser image was released to promote the new Sony game Drive Club. The CLA45 AMG will use the same powertrain as the A45 AMG, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. And that means a small four-door coupe sedan with the highest horsepower-per-liter in the segment. It will shift through the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, should also run out of speed at 155 miles per hour and have that three-stage stability control system.
As with its hatch sibling, the CLA is already so aggressive on the outside - and the parent company so anxious not to demolish the sedan's 0.22 coefficient of drag - that not much has been done to the cranked-up CLA. Even the rather thin tires on the standard only get a little less thin on the hotter variant. Inside will be the telltale AMG signs, with lots of red detailing and that flat-bottomed wheel among the giveaways. We'll know more later this month when the wraps come off at the New York International Auto Show.
Mercedes-Benz to build new ML coupe-crossover in Alabama in 2015
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Mercedes-Benz will expand its factory in Tuscaloosa, AL, to build the ML Coupe, a new crossover that will join its lineup in 2015. Mercedes will also ramp up production to build facelifted versions of the M-Class and GL-Class SUVs, lifting the factory's total production capacity to about 300,000 units annually in 2015. It made 185,000 vehicles in 2013. In addition to SUVs, the Tuscaloosa site also makes the C-Class sedan.
The plans come as part of Mercedes' strategy to capitalize on Americans' increasing demands for SUVs. The company said the SUV market was up 12 percent in first half of 2014, and expects it to grow at twice the rate of the regular market in 2015 and 2016.
"We are seeing climbing demand for SUVs." - Dieter Zetsche
