1972 MB 250. This car has been a daily driver for our family for the last 4 years. We have put over $15,000 in parts and repairs since we bought it. Most of the work was performed by a Mercedes Master Mechanic. Engine rebuilt including new cam shaft, rockers, gears and timing chain.Complete new brake system including all lines, rotors, master cylinder, etc. New water pump and fuel pump. Complete new air conditioning system (needs freon). New original style carpets. New original style seat belts. New Kenwood stereo system with MP3 port and rear speakers. Still to be done: Odometer shows 57,000 miles but has not worked since we bought the car. Clock not working. Interior cosmetics including small tear in drivers seat. Front chrome bumper has some pitting. We're told the very attractive paint job was done just before we purchased the car and cost $8,000. It looks very good overall. We live in the mountains and the car performs quite well for its age. Vehicle registered in State of Nevada as Classic Vehicle. Title is clear. Original owners manuals included.

We purchased the car in 2009 from a charity auction on Ebay and much of the work was done in August of that year.

We affectionately call the vehicle "Old Blue" and it gets a lot of looks and positive comments. Since we just downsized to a two car garage, we need to sell her.

Car is sold as-is, where is without warranty.

European automakers gear up for Brazilian production

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.

2014 Mercedes S-Class priced lower from $92,900*

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

The massively overhauled 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will start at $92,900, not including a $925 destination fee, when it arrives at US dealers in October. That's a 2.8-percent drop over the 2013 S-Class, although Mercedes is fast to point out that a drop in price doesn't equate with a drop in equipment for the executive sedan.
Besides an extra 20 horsepower from the 4.6-liter, biturbocharged V8, the S550 sports a standard panoramic sunroof, keyless start, a rear-view camera and LED headlights, taillights and interior lights. Adding the German manufacturer's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system bumps the S550's price up to $95,900.
If the S550 doesn't quite cut the mustard, you can wait until November, at which point Mercedes will quite happily sell you the new S63 AMG 4Matic for $139,500. Power is also up on the S63, from a max of 563 ponies with an AMG Performance Package to 577 horsepower as standard on the 2014 model.

Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?

Sun, 17 Mar 2013

Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.
