RARE 1970 MERCEDES 280 SE COUPE WITH SUNROOF WITH MANUAL 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE BODY OF THIS COUPE IS IN BAD SHAPE, IT SAT UNDER SOME TREES FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME. THE FLOORS, FENDER APRONS,HOOD, AND RADIATOR SUPPORT ARE ALL IN A STATE OF EXTENSIVE RUST. HOWEVER, THERE ARE NUMEROUS GOOD PARTS TO BE TAKEN OFF OF THIS CAR. THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE COMPLETE. THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS ARE COMPLETE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AN AMBER LENS ON THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS. THE GRILL IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THE SILL PLATES FOR THE ROCKER PANELS ARE ALSO IN GOOD SHAPE. THE SEAT COVERS NEED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER THE CORE OF THEM CAN BE RE-USED IF NEEDED. ALL THE BADGING SEEMS TO BE PRESENT ON THE CAR. THE SUNROOF PANEL LOOKS TO BE IN A RESTORABLE CONDITION. ALL OF THE HUBCAPS ARE PRESENT. AS FAR AS THE DASH GOES IT LOOKS TO BE COMPLETE HOWEVER THE ORNATE WOOD TRIM AROUND THE DASH IS PRETTY DETERIORATED BUT MAY BE SAVED WITH SOME PROFESSIONAL WORK. THE GLOVE BOX IS IN GOOD SHAPE. ALL THE KNOBS FOR THE DASH LOOK TO BE PRESENT. THE SHIFTER KNOB AND WINDOW CLUSTER SWITCHES ARE PRESENT. THE GLASS AND GLASS TRIM ARE ALL THERE AND THE VENT WINDOWS ON THE DOORS STILL OPERATE WITH THE KNOBS. THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE RESTORED IF IT HAD TO. WHAT LOOKS TO BE THE FACTORY JACK IS STILL IN THE TRUNK. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LOOKS COMPLETE HOWEVER IT HAS NOT RUN IN SOMETIME AND A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF THE ENGINE AND COMPONENTS WOULD LIKELY BE NEEDED. AIR BREATHER IS PRESENT BUT HAS SOME RUST HOLES THAT COULD BE REPAIRED. THE ORIGINAL RUNNING GEAR IS PRESENT. THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS DRIVING THIS CAR DAILY BUT PARKED IT ONE DAY DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS. CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE. WE ALSO HAVE GOTTEN AN IMAGE OF THE BUILD CARD FROM MERCEDES, PAINT CODE IS 717 SO THIS CAR WAS ORIGINALLY WHITE. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT DONOR CAR TO USE TO FIND THOSE HARD TO GET VINTAGE MERCEDES PARTS. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS-IS WHERE-IS WITH NO WRITTEN OR IMPLIED WARRANTY. 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG rumbles on stage 4Matic style
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Bruce Hornsby and his soothing piano skills helped introduce us to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but the monstrous E63 AMG sedan needed no entrance music as it rumbled on stage. The 550-horsepower (and up) sedan sat proudly alongside the rest of the redesigned E-Class on stage at the Detroit Auto Show, but stood miles apart in intention and execution.
In addition to a choice of sedan and wagon body styles, the E63 AMG will also offer buyers the choice of the standard 550 hp or an upgraded 577-hp S-Model; regardless of output, all 2014 E63 AMG models will come standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

Maybach and Aston Martin alliance talks fall apart
Tue, 27 Sep 2011If you have, like us, been salivating at the notion of a new generation of Maybach and Lagonda ultra-luxury crafts built by Aston Martin, we've got some bad news: According to reports emanating from Germany, talks between AML and Daimler have broken down.
The proposal under negotiation would have seen Daimler outsourcing production of the next family of Maybach models to Aston Martin, which in return would benefit from Mercedes-Benz platforms and engines - not only for its svelte GTs, but also for its own future Lagonda line of limousines and luxury SUVs. That, and a boatload of money - or at least that's what AML was reportedly seeking, an issue that served as the stumbling block over which the deal reportedly collapsed.
That's not to say the two parties couldn't still reach some sort of a compromise, but short of that, Daimler may opt to either shut down Maybach altogether, find another partner, or take another stab at building new models internally.

There have been five Black Series models since the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Black Series introduced itself to European audiences in 2006. Following that, the Black Series club has hosted appearances by the 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series, the 2009 SL65 AMG Black Series and last year's 2013 C63 AMG Black Series. The sixth member of the group is one we would have thought already was a Black Series car in its standard guise. Right out of the box, the SLS AMG is loud, frenetic, cozy, boisterous and frightfully easy to oversteer. How much more Black did it need to get?
Quite a bit so, apparently. The SLS AMG Black Series has lost weight, gained power and been refitted with upgrades and aero bits from front to rear. If you liked the way it looked before, you'll probably be an even bigger fan of this one. If you thought it looked ungainly, well, this one should stay even further away from pageants. Regardless of where you come down this is the best SLS AMG variant we've driven.
