What I have for sale or trade possibly is my 1987 RX7 Turbo II two-tone Gold/Brown. I have owned this car for the last 10 years and have been very slowly building it up and fixing anything that needs to be taken car of on it. I purchased the car with about 71,xxx miles on it and it now has just a little over 81,xxx. As you can tell it doesn't get driven to often and that's part of the reason I'm looking to let it go. About 5,000 miles after I bought it the engine suffered a water jacket seal failure and so it began its life of becoming a proper rotary engine with a full rebuild.

Electronics/Management
Misc stuff
I have no doubt that I am forgetting a ton of stuff on this car but that's the important stuff I can thing of. Now about the car as it sits. This car has had many brains and changes over the last few years. After the rebuild I had a RETEK and a different injector setup, then I changed it to a megasquirt system and wasn't happy. Finally I settled on the Power FC, and eliminating the resistor pack and running the newest generation bosch injectors. That has made a world of difference in the driveability of this car. Now would I recommend this car for the first time RX-7 driver? Oh no, this is not a easy car to drive. For starters there is no power steering, which may not bother too many. The abs system is gone, but I have replaced the lines and put in a new master cylinder to help compensate. The ORC clutch/flywheel combo does tend to make it a little tricky in stop and go traffic, but once your rolling you will fall in love with how quickly this engine runs through the rpm range. We're talking its almost like INDY car fast between revs. For those of you that do not like the current hood I do still have the original TII hood for it, I also have a second exhaust for it that is a single side exit if you want to be loud and make some noise. I also still have the original wheels for the car. Not to mention a couple of boxes full of misc parts and pieces for the car. The body of the car is almost perfect, now remember this car is 26 years old and she is beginning to show some age. There are some dents in the current hood from some hail, it has a few paint chips from rocks and stuff along the lower edges of the body. There is a small dent in the passenger side door where my dog decided he could jump in the car through the open window. As for the paint, this was not a factory option, but this car was custom ordered direct from mazda with this paint combination, I have all the original bill of sales and the window sticker for it, as well as the order sheets for the custom two-tone paint job. The bad stuff The AC system holds a charge and it does work, it just doesn't have a belt right now. I was working on making a custom pulley spacer so I could hook the AC belt back up with the cosmo serpentine pulleys but i never got around to it. However, if you need AC, I am including the original pulleys and belts to put everything back how it was. Tuning tuning tuning - I have spent most of my time tuning the car for driving. I was never really planning on making it a full throttle monster. I do not know how much power this car can make, 300, 400, 600hp!!! maybe who knows. I did have it on a dyno when I first installed the power FC to get some base tuning done on it. We never took the car past 5k and at that point it was making close to 275HP and about 300Ftlbs. I really see no reason why she can't make close to 400 at the wheels with a good proper tuning. The suspension was replaced with a pretty much oem/stockish setup before I bought the car. For the power it had then it was perfect, now it does need some attention. something a little more stiff would be great for it Some small plastic interior pieces are missing / broken. Usual stuff the triangle vents in the corners, the demister vents at the front of the windshield, the stereo surround is cracked in the normal place. |

Mazda Miata 25th anniversary display is roadster heaven on Earth
Thu, 17 Apr 2014As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the MX-5 Miata, Mazda has put together a rather large display at its New York Auto Show booth, showing off significant models from the diminutive roadsters history.
The display represents a healthy split of volume models, with cars 14, 15 and 17 sitting alongside cars 500,000 and 700,000. There are also more than a few concept cars in the offering, such as the Super20 Concept we drove a few years back, as well as older offerings, like the Club Racer concept from the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the M-Speedster from the 1995 Chicago show and the M Coupe from the 1996 New York Auto Show.
We've put together a gallery of images of the historical Miata display, which you can view above. Take a look and then let us know which of Mazda's awesome roadsters is your favorite.
25th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata sells out in 10 minutes
Wed, 21 May 2014Looking to buy one of the limited-edition 25th Anniversary Mazda MX-5 Miata roadsters? Well, you're too late. According to Mazda, all 100 examples of the darling two-seater have sold out - and it only took 10 minutes.
On Tuesday, Mazda opened its pre-order site for the limited-run Miata, and had intended to keep the site running until May 31, or until 250 customers were registered, whichever came first. Just 10 minutes later, 250 people had signed up. Now, Mazda will contact those folks, and the first 100 that are verified will be given the opportunity to pre-order the unique MX-5. "Upon verification of purchase intent and transmission selection, the customer's information will then be forwarded to the dealership of their choosing to finalize the transaction," Mazda said in a press release.
The 2015 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition models will arrive at dealers this summer, retailing for $32,205 with the six-speed manual, or $32,655 for those desiring the automatic transmission. Based on the PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top) model, the limited-edition Miata adds Bilstein shocks, a Soul Red metallic paint job (the same found on the gorgeous Mazda6) with a contrasting black roof, gunmetal wheels and an off-white leather interior. Special badging will be found inside the car, and buyers will also be treated to a custom-crafted Tourneau watch and a display winder box.
Mazda concept probably previews the next Mazda3 at the Tokyo show
Tue, Oct 10 2017This year's Tokyo Motor Show is shaping up to be an interesting one, with a Nismo Leaf, Mitsubishi e-Evolution concept, and a pair of interesting Toyota concepts already lined up. Now Mazda is joining with its own big reveal of two concepts. One is a design concept that will give us an idea of where the company is heading, and another is all but guaranteed to be our first look at the new Mazda3. There are a few reasons we say that one of these concepts has to be the next Mazda3. One is the fact that Mazda says it's a concept planned for production. The company also describes it as "a compact hatchback that fuses next-generation technology and design," and it uses the new Skyactiv-X spark-controlled compression ignition engine and "Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture." Plus, just looking at the teasers, the design is a clear evolution of the current Mazda3 hatchback. It looks as though the hood and roofline curve a bit more, and some of the sharp creases of the current car have been smoothed out. The other concept Mazda is bringing to the Tokyo Motor Show seems to be just that, a concept. Mazda says it's just a design concept meant to exhibit how other Mazdas will look. Apparently it's a continuation of the company's current "Kodo" design language. Based on the teaser image, the car appears to be a sedan and consists mainly of clean, elegant curves, with hardly a crease anywhere except the edge of the trunk. The elegant lines are reminiscent of the RX-Vision concept, just with a couple extra doors and a different color. Mazda will have a couple of other new vehicles on display in Tokyo as well. The company will show the Japan-only CX-8 three-row crossover and a special-edition Roadster (Miata) Red Top edition. We presume it's a Miata with a red soft top. Stay tuned for more details from the full reveal. Related Video:
