2005 Anniversary Edition Maserati Spyder

The most Highly optioned of this rare special edition.

Thanks for looking at my rare Maserati Anniversary Edition Spyder. As far as I know, this is the most highly optioned of all the rare Anniversary Special Edition Spyders.

This is an exceptional car in excellent condition with only 10,8XX miles. It is number 21 of only 90 produced, finished in stunning Anniversary Blu over blue leather interior, having the original window sticker and factory books. Powered by the Ferrari 4.2L V8 producing 390 HP.

I have included a picture of the window sticker- in addition to the long list of standard features of this special edition car, here is a quick list of the extra options equipped from the factory:

CD Changer $695

Handy Fire Extinguisher $485 (I still get a kick out of this)

Heat and memory driver seats $720

5 Piece fitted Luggage set $2390 (still in their protective bags)

Radio, Navigation, GPS, and GSM Phone $3985

Park Distance Control $610

Skyhook Suspension $2390

Xenon Headlights $1205

There is also a dealer installed Clear Bra on the nose and exterior mirrors of the car (see pictures) saving the paint from typical stone chips.

I am the second owner, we bought this car in March of 2008 with 8,200 miles. It has been great to own, there have not been any repairs necessary, just a battery replacement- I installed a high-end Optima Red Top battery. The engine and clutch have always been flawless, running very smooth and strong. The car has had oil changes with synthetic oil every year. The interior and exterior of the car are great, and all the equipment works well including the power top. Note that other than the new battery, the car is completely stock including the small factory mounted antenna on the trunk.

The AC is cold, the Spyder has never been smoked in and never been on a race track. Living in Wisconsin, the car is garage kept in a climate controlled garage, I have only driven in the summer, the car has never seen rain. Clean Carfax. Included in the sale are all books and manuals, 2 keys, original window sticker and radio code cards.

The exterior paint is great. No door dings, a few minor stone marks, most in the clear bra material, hard to tell if they actually even penetrated to the underlying paint. The rims are good with no curb rash. The interior is great, the leather is soft and supple. The car has never been in an accident. The car has always run and handled well, and always passed the WI emissions.

Info about me: I have been a “car guy” since my teenage years, and have owned many high-end and exotic cars including many Ferrari’s, Porches, Lotus, etc. I think most people would assume that an owner must be wealthy to own such cars, but for me it has been a very low cost hobby. I have always acquired rare, second hand low mileage cars. I have never purchased new. In doing so, I have enjoyed the cars for years, and been able to sell them for very close to the price that I have paid. It has been such a low cost hobby that my wife enjoys it with me! This car will provide the same benefits to the new owner- the value should remain stable or increase.

The reason for the sale: I had owned the car a bit less than a year when we found my wife of 25 years was expecting our first child. Upon my daughters arrival, the 3 of us needed a back seat. Now that she is almost 5, I want her to enjoy the hobby we have loved for more than 30 years. Of all the cars I have owned, this has been my favorite and it is being replaced with a newer Maserati Spyder (standard with a back seat!).

A word about buying vehicles on EBay: 95% of the cars available on eBay are listed by dealerships. Although dealership listings look good, you do not know the cars history. The dealer has acquired the car in one of two ways- by trade or at auction. Buying directly from an owner provides the best link to accurate information. Note that I have sold several cars on EBay and have over 600 transactions that are 100% positive.

I am currently marketing the car locally, and reserve the right to cancel the auction prior to the auction end if it sells. All serious bidders are welcome to view and drive the car prior to the end of the auction, with the understanding that if the car is how I have described it here, I will expect you to bid on the car prior to the auction end. In other words, I do not want to show the car if the current bid price is out of your budget, or if you are just looking. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. My cell is 414-750-5007.

A $2,000 deposit by PayPal is due within 24 hours of auction end, and balance by wire or cashiers check within 7 days of auction end. Please do not bid if you do not intend or cannot pay for the car. If you have feedback of less than 3, or negative feedback for non-payment, you must contact me prior to bidding, or your bid will be automatically canceled. Transportation, delivery and any fees or costs of licensing the car in your state are the responsibility of the winner. The car will be released as soon as funds have cleared. The car is lien free with title in hand. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding on this great exotic!

Maserati MC20 GT2 returns the Trident to GT racing in 2023

Wed, Jul 27 2022

Seems we got ahead of Maserati, but now we're on the same page with the Italian carmaker. We wrote about the Maserati Project24 earlier this week, a limited-edition track car not built to race a specific series, instead chasing Maserati's own performance targets. We wondered whether the Project24 was a pivot from the rumored GT3 program planned for the MC20 years ago. Turns out the Project24 is an offshoot of the GT2 program for the MC20, the Italians in Modena announcing they've developed an MC20 GT2 to compete in the Fanatec GT2 European Series Championship next year. The base tech specs listed so far for the MC20 GT2 are the same as the Project24. The twin-turbo Nettuno V6 shifts through a six-speed sequential auto with paddle shifters, sending power to the rear wheels through a mechanical limited slip differential. Brembo CCMR racing brakes hang off a double wishbone suspension with anti-roll bars front and rear and adjustable dampers, just behind custom, forged 18-spoke center lock wheels on racing slicks that can be changed easily thanks to on-board air jacks. A single seat in the cabin is accessorized with an adjustable, multifunction carbon fiber steering wheel, an adjustable pedal box, and air conditioning. Safety features include an FIA fuel tank, rain light, roll cage, six-point harness, and fire extinguisher.  The differences that we know of include output, curb weight, and the aero package. Series organizer SRO says GT2 is "formulated to bring gentlemen drivers back to the front of the stage ... whilst being fast and spectacular enough to secure the values of SRO-promoted championships, should the current GT3 category become too expensive for too many of our teams and drivers." GT2 regulations cap output at around 630 hp, just nine more than the standard MC20 throws down — and 110 hp less than the Project24. The series' Balance of Performance rules will ultimately determine race weight and output. The regulations also draw limits around aero devices that Maserati Stile didn't need to heed on the Project24. The aero bit is especially important here because GT2 cars are more powerful than GT3 entries but designed to be less reliant on aerodynamics than GT3 cars, making GT2 versions easier for amateurs to drive at the limit.  This is Maserati's first dip back into GT racing above the GT4 class since the MC12 GT1 that snagged close to 100 wins between 2004 and 2010. The race division will sell cars to individuals and race teams.

Leno profiles Pebble Beach-winning 1956 Maserati

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

We enjoy it when Jay Leno and his web show, Jay Leno's Garage, take a look at new, modern cars. When the comedian gets his paws on a proper classic, though, he's at his best. Leno is able to display an impressive breadth of knowledge about even obscure models, and that's no different here, as the winner of its class at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a 1956 Maserati A6G-2000 Allemano rolls into the garage.
Part of the Maserati A6 family, this A6G is one of just 21 cars produced with coachwork by Carrozzeria Allemano, making it one of the rarer cars to grace Jay Leno's Garage. It's powered by a 2.0-liter inline-six, and, as Leno points out, is far more of a road car than the race-oriented Maseratis of the day.
Scroll down for the latest episode from Jay Leno's Garage on this fully restored 1956 Maserati.

Maserati GranTurismo successor to be smaller, fight Porsche 911

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

The Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 all belong to a club that shuns the Maserati GranTurismo as an outsider. You see, those three key sports cars all measure within an inch of one another in length - 176 to 177 inches and change - while the Maserati comes in at over 192 inches. Naturally, there's extra length between its wheels, as well.
While those extra inches would seemingly pay dividends in interior roominess and storage space, those are not exactly the most important attributes in the segment, which values proper proportions and proper driving feel over all else. All of this is why it comes as little surprise that Maserati is working on a smaller version of its two-door sports car platform when the next generation is ready in roughly three years.
According to Motor Trend and echoing rumors we've heard in the past, the smaller model will be known as the Gran Sport while a larger model will still be called GranTurismo in coupe form and GranCabrio in convertible guise. We're told, again, to expect Maserati's new 404-horsepower supercharged V6 engine as standard, while the V8 would still be a possible option.
