2001 Eclipse Spyder Gt (parts Car Or Drive) on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
This was my emergency car for quite a while. I had a buyer for it so decided to power wash the motor at the car wash. Ended up getting engine codes from shorting something out (injector circuit/input-turbine speed sensor circuit/injector circuit). Dont have time to fix the car or trouble shoot anymore, just want to get rid of it. Still runs, idles fine. Does stutter randomly. Doesnt over heat. Car is being sold as parts car so no one buys it and wants a perfectly running car. The electrical problems have to figured out first to drive it around with peace of mind. Clear title, has a lot of custom work to it. Wide body custom body kit, HId projector headlights, racing seats. Engine and transmission were changed 3 years ago with a used 65k mile pair. Transmission has a high stall TC installed, 18" wheels. New convertible top. Shaved door handles, door popper operated with remote. Passed emissions just 4k miles ago.
If you troubleshot the check engine codes, the only issue with the car is probably needing a new paint job. It has custom fiberglass bodyparts that need to be prepped and repainted. Since it is running, I can provide videos and pics of anything you need to see. |

Maserati's Super Bowl spot may have cost more than $700 per car [w/video]
Mon, 17 Feb 2014It's no secret that Super Bowl ad time is very, very expensive, with a 30-second spot for this year's game costing around $4 million. For Maserati, which aired a 90-second spot showing off its new Ghibli sedan during this year's game, the price was considerably above $4 million, though.
Automotive News estimates that the spot cost Maserati the equivalent of over $700 for each of the 15,400 vehicles sold last year. That works out to nearly $11 million. It may have paid off, though, as search traffic for Maserati and the Ghibli in particular saw a significant spike following the airing of the stylish commercial, and the brand's total sales were already on target for record levels before the ad aired.
The Ghibli "deserved a wide audience platform such as the Super Bowl," according to Maserati's chief marketing officer, Saad Chehab. The sports sedan is Maserati's most affordable entry, with prices starting around $67,000, moving the brand further downmarket than it's ever ventured before.
Maserati looking to book 13,000 sales of new Quattroporte in 2013
Mon, 10 Dec 2012Europe's continuing financial woe is forcing automakers to get creative, and while Fiat may be scaling back its volume vehicles, it's looking to ramp up production of the exclusive Maserati brand. Following the debut of a new Quattroporte sedan, Fiat wants to boost Maserati sales to 50,000 vehicles by 2015. Maserati may lose as much as €7 million ($9.05 million) this year, and Fiat is betting big on Chrysler platforms and dealers to turn that around.
Currently regarded as a low-volume boutique carmaker, Maserati sold just 6,159 units last year, and 4,700 units through three quarters of this year. For 2013, Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne is targeting 13,000 in sales of the redesigned Quattroporte alone. Fiat apparently wants the brand's low volume image to change, hoping to position it closer to BMW and Porsche in the market.
The recent unveiling of the new Quattroporte will be followed by more new vehicle launches, including a crossover utility called Levante, and a long-promised sub-Quattroporte sedan, called Ghibli. The latter will share certain components with the Chrysler 300 sedan in an effort to optimize production costs. The Ghibli will be positioned to take on the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It's all in an effort to turn the profit tide for Maserati and its parent company Fiat amidst European economic turmoil.
Maserati GranTurismo successor to be smaller, fight Porsche 911
Wed, 05 Jun 2013The Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 all belong to a club that shuns the Maserati GranTurismo as an outsider. You see, those three key sports cars all measure within an inch of one another in length - 176 to 177 inches and change - while the Maserati comes in at over 192 inches. Naturally, there's extra length between its wheels, as well.
While those extra inches would seemingly pay dividends in interior roominess and storage space, those are not exactly the most important attributes in the segment, which values proper proportions and proper driving feel over all else. All of this is why it comes as little surprise that Maserati is working on a smaller version of its two-door sports car platform when the next generation is ready in roughly three years.
According to Motor Trend and echoing rumors we've heard in the past, the smaller model will be known as the Gran Sport while a larger model will still be called GranTurismo in coupe form and GranCabrio in convertible guise. We're told, again, to expect Maserati's new 404-horsepower supercharged V6 engine as standard, while the V8 would still be a possible option.
