The Chevrolet Monza was a sub compact four passenger car built from 1975-1980, to compete primarily with the Mustang II. The Buick Skyhawk and Oldsmobile Starfire were the other H body models from GM, but the Monza was the most popular. It was the successor to the Vega.  The Spyder nameplate was originally used to designate the 1962-1964 Corvair turbocharged model. The 'Spyder' name was introduced for the Chevrolet Monza in 1976. This package included performance equipment and some small appearance items, depending on the choice of Spyder Equipment or Spyder Appearance, or both. For 1980, the option designation was consolidated to the Spyder Equipment Package, with both appearance and performance options. BR70-13C steel-belted radial ply blackwall tires (with option for raised white lettering), Sport suspension, Black front and rear bumper rub strips, Black headlights frames, Black windshield, belt, side and rear window moldings (not available with black exterior), Black painted body sill (also not available with black exterior), Black door and center pillar louvers, Black painted taillight frames, Body color front air dam and rear spoiler, Spyder emblems on front facia, rear lock cover and sport steering wheel (horn button insert), Black sport mirrors (LH remote, RH manual), Rear Spoiler and body stripes with Spyder lettering outlined in accent body colour, Spyder hood decal, Black painted Rally II wheels with bright trim rings and center caps.

There is today a die hard group of Monza enthusiasts. Monza's, both stock and modified, can be seen at shows, cruises, drag strips, and on the streets across the country. The Monza Spyder is at the very top of the popularity scale.

Clean body with driver quality paint. However, the paint has a mirror gloss shine. Striping on the car and hood graphics are done in paint.  Dark tinted windows. Scooped hood is all steel and was custom fabricated. Front air dam. Dual sport mirrors. Rear spoiler. Custom chrome wheels with radial tires. Ride stance is excellent.

The heart of this street machine is the drive train. Less than 200 miles logged since rebuild, per previous owner. It starts with a bullet proof block.  TXB code 1975 four bolt main truck block. Cast iron heads. Hydraulic cam and valve train. Edelbrock Competition Series carburetor mounted on a Weiand aluminum intake manifold. HEI ignition. Solid engine mounts. Stock exhaust manifolds connected to Flowmaster dual exhaust.  Aluminum radiator. Flex Lite fan. Manual steering. Manual brakes- disc in front; drum in rear. Twelve gallon aluminum fuel tank.

Turbo 350 automatic transmission. Ten bolt rear differential. Coil over shocks. Heavy duty rear torsion bar. Rear anti roll bar. Converted from four to five lug wheels with all proper components. Undercarriage is not detailed, but clean, solid, and functionally built.

Interior is all business with no frills. Camaro cloth reclining bucket seat are in good condition. Factory rear vinyl seat in good condition. Fabricated door panels. Complete 1969 Chevelle console including stirrup shifter is installed in the car. Dash pad in good condition. Headlights, tail lights, and brake lights work. Turn signals do not. No radio.

You can hardly buy a running and driving classic car in the $5,000 price range. Here you have a complete, driver quality muscle car with a well built and good running engine, transmission, and differential. You can't let this one get away. It's the best deal around on a vehicle like this. Don't hesitate to grab this one.

2013 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale gets its groove, seats back

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale was exclusively a two-seater, but here in Geneva, the big Italian coupe gets its rear thrones back. We don't know if the addition of rear passenger space will help improve sales of this special trim of the aging GT, but it's at the very least an excuse for Maserati to shine a few lights on its gorgeous two-door.
Under that rakish carbon fiber bonnet is the same Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 we've loved for years now, tuned to 460 horsepower in this application and mated to Maserati's MC Race Shift six-speed automatic transmission. Other updates for the MC Stradale include new 20-inch alloy wheels and a smattering of new materials inside the cabin.
Yes, it feels like we write about some version of the GranTurismo every time we attend the Geneva Motor Show, but this car still tickles our fancy each and every time. Scroll down for the press blast and check out the four-seater for yourself in the high-resolution gallery.

Maserati ramping up production of Ghibli, Quattroporte

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

While Porsche may be relatively new to the four-door game, Maserati has been building the Quattroporte with few interruptions since 1963. But like its rival from Stuttgart, the Trident marque is rapidly shifting from a sports car company primarily to a manufacturer of high-end family transportation. Not only does it have the new Quattroporte on the market, but now it's got the Ghibli sedan as well and the Levante crossover on its way.
It's a gambit that's reaping huge benefits not only for Maserati itself but also for its newly merged parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which is finding the mass market less lucrative than it once was and is positioning both Maserati and Alfa Romeo against other luxury marques like BMW, Audi and Porsche. As a result, Maserati is considerably expanding its production.
Last month, Maserati sold over 3,000 cars, putting it on track to double its sales from 2013. But it's not about to stop there. With growing demand for its authentically Italian luxury sedans, Maserati is shifting more workers to its assembly plant in the Turinese suburn of Grugliasco (where the QP and Ghibli are made) and shortening vacation time to ramp production up from 750 cars per week to 900.

Maserati planning second smaller SUV?

Sun, 16 Dec 2012

Maserati's product plans have taken a few wild turns, but as we get closer to production dates for the long-awaited offerings things are getting a wee bit clearer. The the sixth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is here, and a quick recap according to a report in Car and Driver has the smaller Ghibli sedan on Chrysler's LX/LY platform next, then the next-generation GranTurismo coupe and cabrio on a Maserati platform, then the Kubang SUV concept (pictured) that, for production, will become the larger Jeep-Cherokee-based Levante SUV.
All of which gets us to 2015. That same year, according to the report, the Levante will get a brother: a smaller SUV or crossover, perhaps sized like the Kubang concept, to challenge the Audi Q5 and the Porsche Macan. It is predicted to use the Compact US Wide platform, built for front-wheel and all-wheel-drive vehicles, that supports the Dodge Dart and 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulia. In addition to giving the premium brand a competitor in what is a very popular segment, a Maserati move slightly downmarket can help fill a gap while Fiat brass figures out what to do with Lancia.
