Amazingly fun car. I have owned the car for the last 25,000 miles and have loved every bit of it. Unfortunately for me, family matters come first so I must sell it. It is a Turbo charged Elise, putting 260 horsepower to the pavement. It is quicker than even the Exige S260! For those of you who want to know all of the technicalities about the turbo system, the complete build can be found by going to Google and searching for Perrin Performance Lotus and it should be the first link that shows. I am not a technical person, so it would be useless for me to even try to explain what the car has added parts wise. All I know is the car is fast and fun. The previous owner of the vehicle is the owner of Perrin Performance. This was his wife's car, until he started to fall in love with it. The boost is set conservatively at 8 psi, but even that is enough to put this light car in the races with supercars. The power to weight ratio is phenomenal.
PERRIN Turbo Lotus 7.6 pounds per WHP C6 Vette 8.8 pounds per WHP 997TT 7.7 pounds per WHP ZO6 Vette 6.5 pounds per WHP The car is a blast even if you never take it to the track. You feel like a rock star just sitting in it.The paint is pristine except for 2 places. One scratch on the removable hard top, and one paint chip on the rear deck area. Both are minor. There is also an issue with the cluster going in and out. It is a common issue with Lotus gauges and can be fixed by soldering the back connectors. It is not a major issue and causes no drivability concerns. If you have any questions about the car, you can call me at 502-330-1359 and I will be glad to talk. If I dont answer, leave a message. I work a lot and cant always get to my phone. |

Lotus renames Russell Carr its head of design
Wed, 22 Oct 2014There's been a changing of the guard at Lotus recently. The legendary British sports car manufacturer fired its controversial chief executive Dany Bahar and replaced him recently with Jean-Marc Gales. And now it's named a new chief designer. Or rather, renamed its old one to the post.
That designer is the appropriately named Russell Carr, who had previously held the post until Bahar brought in his former compatriot Donato Coco (with whom he had previously served at Ferrari) and charged him with designing a series of ambitious but ill-fated concept cars that debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and were subsequently axed on Bahar's way out. Now Coco has been shown the door as well, effective at the end of this month. In his place, Carr - who has been with Lotus since 1990 - has been given back his old job after having been demoted to playing second fiddle to Coco for five years.
Although both Gales and Coco both served in senior positions at PSA Peugeot Citroën, Gales didn't join the French automaker until 2009 - the same year that Coco joined Lotus, five years after having left PSA to work at Ferrari.
Lotus spotted testing more extreme Elise on the Nordschleife
Tue, 19 Aug 2014If we had a nickel for every version of the Elise that Lotus has rolled out over the years, we might actually have enough spare change to buy one ourselves. And we're not even talking about the entire separate models (like the Exige and Europa) that Lotus has based on the Elise's platform or the other automakers' cars (like the Tesla Roadster and Hennessey Venom GT) that have used the same. And now Lotus appears to be testing another one.
Spotted lapping the Nürburgring, what we're looking at here appears to be the track-bound Elise S Cup R, but our intrepid paparazzi by the side of the track tell us it's missing the switches for the battery isolator and fire extinguisher. In their place, this Elise is wearing an even bigger rear wing as part of an altogether rather aggressive aero kit - not to mention a rockin' matte red wrap.
All of these telltales make us think Lotus has something extreme in the works, and we could find out what exactly it is as early as the Paris Motor Show in October, so stay tuned and watch this space.
Lotus Esprit cancelled? [UPDATE]
Thu, 04 Oct 2012Two years ago, we were gobsmacked when humble Lotus shocked the automotive world by wheeling out no fewer than five new models - admittedly in various stages of development - at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The ambitious onslaught of new sheetmetal came at the behest of then-CEO Danny Bahar who aimed to broaden the British marque's appeal by dramatically expanding its portfolio. Bahar was later thrown out by new Malaysian owners DRB-Hicom in a management shakeup that seems to still be, well, shaking out. Bahar was deposed over accusations of financial wrongdoing and the controversial executive has fired back with a $10.6M lawsuit.
Against this chaotic background, a cornerstone of Lotus' revival plans hinged on the rebirth of its Esprit supercar (shown in 2010 concept form above). According to new reports, however, the Esprit has been cancelled, a victim of the company's uncertain finances and direction. Depending on which rumor you choose to believe, the two-seat coupe was slated to receive a house-built V8 and possibly turbocharging or hybrid power. That may all be moot now, however, as DRB-Hicom is reported to have scrapped Bahar's plans wholesale, a development that apparently includes killing off the mid-engined Esprit, too.
UPDATE: And this, friends, is why we have this story with a question mark and a Rumormill tag - Lotus is denying that the Esprit has been killed off.
