this is a beautiful example of an mostly original Lincoln MarkIV. Garaged kept always, lost storage two years ago but always covered, never seen snow, caught in rain a few times while driving. I've owned the car the last 15 years and knew the orig owner personally, his name plaque is still on the dash. This car has always been driven and cared for lovingly, pampered and maintained. I bought the car with about 62000 miles and now has 79905 miles. Over the last 15 years it was only driven on special occasions or nice days in summer it has been a toy and a joy when you want to show off because it attracts attention and lots of it. It's never been a "daily driver" over it's 38 years for me or the orig owner. I have a lot of paper work on this car, orig owners manual, plastic owners card from dealer for service, records from emission station, when that was still necessary etc. The originality of the car is impressive, I reluctantly replaced the carb last year to a edelbrock with elec.choke, the car now gets better gas mileage and a power difference I can really feel. I also replaced the water pump, fuel pump , shocks and brake pads on all four disc brakes. Other than that and a hose or belt as needed it is all as it came from Lincoln.  Amazingly the upper radiator hose has never needed replacing. The a/c has been converted to 134a and works as it should the autotemp system is fully operative as is the power antenna, stereo radio w/8 track player, cruise control, power seats both sides with passenger recline, the clock works but not always. The minor rust issues have always been seen to properly and touched up as they were beginning. Mechanically the car is dependable uses no oil and leaves no fluids on the ground, the trans is smooth and shifts crisp as it should. the vinyl roof I would have replaced, I use liquid vinyl to keep it looking as good as it does now. I am putting a low reserve on this car and hope I can get some pics up but you can call me at 202-841-5927 that's my business cell phone and deal with any questions or requests you may have. call skip at 2028415927.  A deposit of $1000.00 (not refundable) within 24hours of sale, balance within 7 days certified funds please. I will help with shipping if I can. Bid with confidence, this is a fine classic car and you won't be disappointed.

Farley says Lincoln learnings in China could influence brand in US

Tue, 14 May 2013

Automotive News reports Lincoln is looking to Chinese luxury shoppers for customer service ideas. Those notions may eventually make their way back to the US in the form of new dealership training. Jim Farley, the executive vice president of global marketing for Ford, tells Automotive News, "In many ways, China will be a listening post for Lincoln in the United States. Soon China will be the largest luxury market in the world." Farley also said that in China, the Lincoln brand is currently where Lexus was when the Japanese brand first landed in the US.
Lincoln is slated to open its first Chinese dealerships in 2014. The brand is largely unknown in Asia, and Lincoln representatives have been visiting other luxury dealers in China for an idea of what buyers there expect. Lincoln has also studied non-automotive luxury shopping, paying special attention to high-end retail branding.
Of course, this whole song and dance feels awfully familiar. Lincoln has focused heavily on remaking the brand and recrafting its marketing here in the States, thus far without sufficient product to back the play. Lincoln is already late to the China game, and without the necessary products to lure buyers away from established bodies like Buick and Cadillac, Lincoln may be doomed to repeat its fate here in the US.

Ford issues six recalls covering 101,000 vehicles for multiple issues

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Ford is announcing six separate recalls for a variety of issues affecting a dozen models and a total of 100,610 vehicles in North America. However, according to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker, "None of them have caused accidents or injuries." Half of them cover fewer than 1,000 cars.
The largest recall covers 92,022 North American examples (about 83,250 in the US) of some models of the Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Ford Interceptor, Flex and Lincoln MKT from the 2013 and 2014 model years; the 2012-2014 Edge and the 2014 Lincoln MKX. All of them have a potential issue with the halfshaft on the right side that might not be fully seated and could move outward over time. If it shifts too far, the models may no longer be able to drive, and the condition could also allow the vehicles to roll away, even when in Park. Dealers will inspect the shaft to make sure it's seated and will replace the part if necessary.
The next-largest recall covers 5,264 North American examples (4,867 in the US) of the Ford F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis from the 2011-2014 model years. It's possible that an electrical junction box can corrode in areas with salty roads and short circuit. The problem could potentially cause a fire. Dealers will replace the box with an improved design.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
