FABULOUS CLASSIC 1961 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL SILVER SUICIDE 4-DOOR approx. 38,250 miles

This is a used vehicle, 53 years old, that has been beautifully and majorly restored.  I purchased this car from a California owner who had not driven it in years, and have spent the last year reinstating it to its former glory.  There are natural interior signs of wear for a car of this era, but in the interest of preserving its originality, these accoutrements were not changed.  The chrome letters, interior, and excellent dash are factory original.  This is the best '61 you will see for a long time.  Any owner would be proud to drive it.  Feels like riding in wad of bubble gum!  Please read the "Item Specifics" box carefully to understand all the features.

Please review RESTORATION and REPLACEMENT work done the last year:

Re-Paint original silver color, Re-Chrome bumpers and trims, Moldings & Lettering removed & polished before painting, front end Bushings, Tires [4] 950 X 14 broad white-walls & Alignment, Brakes, Starter, Battery, Carburetor, Distributor & Wiring, Alternator, Fuel pump, Belts, Radiator, Muffler system, electric [4] Window motors, Air Compressor rebuilt, Windshield resurfaced, Original spare tire, new trunk lining, Owner's manual & factory rubber floor mats with logo -- with additional new ones included.  I have described all honestly and to my best ability.

Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. See the full recall notice below for details.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.

Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue

Fri, 15 Aug 2014

Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
