This Lincoln has been a dream to own. It has plentiful power and the handling will surprise you. The Lincoln is clean with only minor wear and tear on the outside and inside typical for its age. Overall the appearance is spectacular. Inside you will find the rear seatbelts difficult to use as they do not always retract and the inside center rear view mirror glass is blackened and it has a snap on cover when I purchased the car and it works great so I never replaced it. You can see it in the images. The hood is also missing the spring mechanism to lift the hood slightly when you pull the trigger from the interior so you have to grab the edge of the hood with your fingers and pull up.Everything else is fully functional. All four tires are good and the wheels were aligned shortly after replacing two tires about six months ago. The Lincoln also has fresh emission tags as it went through the Oregon DEQ in November. Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.
Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes
Tue, 14 May 2013When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.
