2004 Land Rover Discovery SE

Hello All, I am selling my 2004 Land Rover Discovery SE 5 passenger. I am the ORIGINAL OWNER of the vehicle, Purchased the vehicle 2004 from Land Rover of Anaheim Hills, California. The only reason why I am selling this vehicle is because I have one too many vehicles and downsized my home. Unfortunately I need the Discovery gone, so I have set the Reserve price low. Here are the pros and cons of the vehicle.

Pros:
  • SE package
  • Leather
  • 210 Alpine Sound System with Subwoofer with Casette and 6-Disc CD Changer
  • Dual Power Seats
  • Dual Zone Climate Control (A/C Blows Cold!!)
  • Dual Sunroofs
  • Roof Racl
  • Tow Package (5,000 Tow Capability, 7,700 in Low Range) I have personally never, ever towed with the vehicle
  • Full Time 4WD with Center Locking Differential and Low Range and Downhill Descent Control. I have never off roaded it, ever.
  • Front and Rear Fog Lights
  • Automatic with Sport Mode
  • Cruise Control
  • Audio Controls on the Steering Wheel
  • Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
This Vehicle Drives Great! There is a issue with the sound of the motor (Video and description below) but besides that, it brakes well, steers well. Transmission shifts fine and smooth, as well as all electronic systems such as the Traction Control, ABS, etc. Full time 4 wheel drive works fine as well as Low Range, and doesn't make any noises. There are no surprise check engine lights, no secret OBD II codes, NO BULL!!

Cons:

  • The Rover makes a unknown sound that I have not been able to figure out. People who know Discoveries may know the issue, I hear it is fairly common. It makes a "Clacking" noise, like the lifters are hitting the valve covers. On a cold start, the sound is non-existant, but once it warms up to quarter to half the operating temp. the sound appears. When driving, the clacking noise can be heard from idle to about 2,400 RPM. After that, the sound almost disappears. There is no power lost performance wise. Since the sound has started, the vehicle has sat for awhile, as I did not want to cause any other issues. I've taken it to a few mechanics, but they couldn't tell what the problem was until they took apart the engine. I do not have the funds to fix the engine if it were to become costly. Nobody was able to give me an estimate because they wanted to take apart the engine first, and I did not want to take the risk of having the engine taken apart, and not being able to drive it, to get a bill for more than I estimated. As it sits, the vehicle runs FINE. Just so there isn't any surprises, I have listed a video on Youtube that you can check out to hear what the vehicle sounds like.
  • The battery is not in great shape, so I am INCLUDING ONE FREE OF CHARGE! I guess that isn't so much of a con anymore :)
  • I lost one of the original keys, so one is a spare made by a locksmith, but the vehicle does still come with 2 keys.
  • There are some minor scraches on the car due to age, and that everything shows on a Black car! Minor damage the front photo (as seen in photo)
  • The paint of the vehicle is oxidised on both the roof and the hood, otherwise, the paint and metallic shine in the sun. It is a beautiful black.

Overall, This is a Great car! I really hate to get rid of it. I am the original owner, and the vehicle is in good, driving condition. It can use some TLC to make it a gem and last a lot longer! There aren't many Discoveries around these days, with 2004 being the last and most sough after year of all Discoveries. This is the last of the TRUE LAND ROVERS!! Full chassis, dual solid axles! You can make this Land Rover look and feel brand new with just a paint job on the hood and roof and the engine repaired for longativity. You can also make this a Off Roading Toy! Or even make this a 2nd car for the family to go camping and tow an RV.

I am listing this as an auction and have the right to end the auction at any time for any reason! If you live out of state, I have a connection to get discounted shipping. Sale is sold AS IS WHERE IS. I will ONLY ACCEPT CASH AND PAYPAL. You are also more than welcome to ask me any questions, either via e-mail on here or you can call me personally at (626)-536-1240. You can also set an Appointment to see the vehicle upon request. I was only able to place 24 photos on the ad, but more are available upon request. The Youtube link is listed below. Vehicle is located in Brea, CA 92821

Jaguar to offer high-performance SVR models like Land Rover?

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend, Land Rover previewed its upcoming performance version of the Range Rover Sport. Only instead of wearing the R-S badge that adorns the most hardcore of Jaguar models, the performance SUV from JLR's Special Operations unit introduced the letters SVR. And now, it seems that badge is here to stay.
Following the Range Rover Sport SVR, a new report from Motor Authority now says that Jaguar Land Rover will use those letters to distinguish the top-of-the-line performance models from both marques moving forward. As such, we might expect SVR models of the upcoming Jaguar XE compact sedan and Land Rover Discovery Sport, as well as potential new performance models based on the new F-Type and next-generation XF.
If accurate, the move would seem to separate Jaguar in particular from the R-S badge that has adorned performance models like the XFR-S and XKR-S. Both Audi and Porsche use the letters RS to distinguish its most hardcore models as well (e.g. Audi RS7 Sportback and Porsche 911 GT3 RS). Whether the similarity was a factor in shifting to the SVR moniker, we don't know, but either way, we welcome the arrival of a new generation of Jaguar and Land Rover performance models - especially if they pack the 575-horsepower version of the company's ubiquitous 5.0-liter supercharged V8. Not incidentally, that delicious powerplant gained a couple of new engine bays to call home at Goodwood as well - it's not just found in the forthcoming Range Rover Sport SVR, it's found a home in the F-Type Project 7, too.

Jaguar may join the FWD, small-car parade

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

Was it right for Chevrolet to detune the 1975 Corvette's base engine to 165 horsepower? Was Aston Martin wrong to make the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet? Is BMW crazy to be testing the new 1 Series with three-cylinder engines and front-wheel drive? It seems now, just as in the 1970s and 1980s, that emissions regulations and social considerations are driving some automakers to adopt unbefitting practices to maintain acceptance in the eyes of governments and consumers. Jaguar has jumped on the bandwagon, and is considering development of small, frugal, front-wheel-drive cars to help lower Jaguar Land Rover's average vehicle CO2 levels in light of tightening European emissions regulations, Autocar reports.
By 2020, the European Union expects the model range of every manufacturer to average 95 grams per kilometer, which is a new law passed by the European Parliament in April. Manufacturers who make more than 300,000 vehicles per year must meet these targets, and JLR is expected to be producing up to 700,000 vehicles per year by then. CO2 regulations after 2020 will only get stricter, as EU politicians already are talking about lowering CO2 levels to between 68 g/km and 78 g/km. (To put that in perspective, Autocar posits that driving a fully charged electric vehicle in Europe produces about 75 g/km when factoring in the power-generation infrastructure.)
Jaguar has some choices here, but so far they all have drawbacks. It could develop a new, compact chassis architecture for a line of compact vehicles, but the investment required for such a project could be prohibitively expensive. Jaguar has been looking into using the Land Rover Evoque platform for a small SUV, Autocar reports, but Land Rover brand manager John Edwards raises issue with such a plan, saying it may not be financially feasible.

Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.
