This is an immaculate 1967 Series IIA 88" Land Rover with Tropical Roof and only 31,000 miles. My mechanic just went through the entire truck and did the following work:
The mileage appears to be correct judging by the titles going back to the late 80's early 90's. The exterior of the truck is the original paint, this is an unrestored Rover. I have a lengthy history of receipts that will be included, I always feel better when purchasing a vehicle that has a paper trail. If you want a very solid nice driving truck with overdrive and patina this is it. My mechanic mentioned the previous owners had spent a lot of money on this vehicle. New hydraulics, stainless steel exhaust system, swivels, brake lines, shocks, springs and tries. Currently there are 15" wheels on the truck. It runs and drives well, transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. This is the typical Series II transmission being non-synchro in first and second. All lights, turn signal etc work. The interior is immaculate with the original floor mats. There is zero corrosion on the floors or firewall. I have found 2 small spots in the frame that should be cut out and re-weleded. A very simple operation any body shop could perform. Each spot is about and inch wide and 2-3 inches long. If I were to keep that truck the only items I would address would be the two small spots on the frame and probably new gaskets for the Alpine windows. Thats it. This world be a perfect Rover for someone who is looking for a vacation home vehicle or for something to run around the vineyard or down to the beach. Clear California title and registered through next year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. |

These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.
Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota
Wed, 12 Dec 2012As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.
Tata to get Jaguar and Land Rover tech, platforms too?
Tue, 22 Jul 2014Since buying Jaguar Land Rover, Indian automaker Tata has generally left its luxury arm's platforms and technology alone. However, those days might be gone. The two of them are gradually growing closer with coordinated development and rumors of shared platforms. And it looks like all of that work and money is finally going to pay off with an actual vehicle in the near future.
According to Australian website Drive, Tata wants to make its cars more attractive to buyers outside of India, and to do that the company knows it must improve quality. The Indian company is being careful, though, because it doesn't want to dilute the Jaguar or Land Rover brands with cheap models. "You're going to see in the future a lot of sharing of technologies and platforms over time, but you won't see a JLR with a Tata badge on it," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Tata's Australian distributor, to Drive.
According to Bowler, these future vehicles are already on the way. Tata and JLR have a global platform in the works for 2017 that both companies could use for cars or crossovers. He also hinted that Jaguar's new Ingenium engines could be shared among the brands in the future, too.
