WE HAVE PUT BIODIESEL AS THESE REALLY DO RUN ON ANY TYPE OF LIQUID HEHEHEHEEHEHE.
IN UK WE RUN THEM IN THE WARMER MONTHS HALF DIESEL HALF COOKING OIL..THEY LOVE IT. AND ITS SOOO SMOOTH AND SEEMS TO GET RID OF THE NORMAL DIESEL WRASP. SAVES LOTS OF MONEY IN UK TOO. THIS WAS LISTED WHEN JUST BOUGHT BUT THE PHOTOS WHERE NOT GOOD OR INFORMATIVE. SO AFTER A DRIVE ACROSS EUROPE LAST WEEK..55 TO 60 MPH...OH BOY DONT ASK HOW MANY HOURS..600 MILES A DAY. BUT LIKE NORMAL. THEY DONT MISS A BEAT. AND ONE GETS USED TO PEOPLE OVERTAKING AND DASHING ABOUT, YOU GET INTO THE SERIES 3 SANTANA ZONE WHICH REALLY IS NOT A BAD PLACE TO BE. AFTER THIS DRIVE WE KNOW THIS VEHICLE, WE OWN IT, DRIVE IT AND WASH IT. PHOTOS TAKEN TODAY , WEDNESDAY IN THE UNUSUAL NICE WEATHER. ALL WE HAVE DONE SINCE ITS TRIP IS PRESSURE WASH IT A DIESEL SERVICE IT. THERE IS A HIDDEN SEDIMENT FILTER ON THESE LAND ROVERS THAT THE SPANISH DO NOT SEEM TO KNOW EXIST SO WE ALWAYS MAKE IT OUR FIRST JOB TO CLEAN THIS OUT, AND CHANGE DIESEL FILTER BEFORE IT HAS A VERY NICE PRESSURE WASH. WE TAKE THE SEATS OUT AND COVERS UNDER SEATS TO CLEAN CHASSIS AND GEARBOX AREA AND ONE CAN CHECK THE HAND BRAKE AREA AND PROPSHAFTS. AFTER THAT..SEATS BACK IN AND THESE PHOTOS FOR YOUR APPROVAL. IN ITS WORKING CLOTHES. TOTALLY ONE OWNER VEHICLE WITH MUCH SERVICE HISTORY AND CLEARLY A TIME WARP. FROM SPAIN, FROM NORTHERN LOVELY SPAIN WHERE LAND ROVER SANTANA ARE CLASSED AS COMMERCIAL VEHICLES. SEE THE SIDES IN PHOTOS WHERE THE LEGAL TAX PLATE USED TO LIVE. WE HAVE PHOTO OF IT ON.. ALSO THE ORIGINAL ALLOY SIDE TRIM IS STILL FITTED. ONE ALWAYS KNOWS AN ORIGINAL UNSPOILT VEHICLE WHEN IT STILL HAS ITS BIG ALLOY FINISHING STRIPES IN TACT. EASILY REMOVED IF YOU DONT LIKE THEM. WE THINK THERE CUTE AND WAS FACTORY OPTION WITH THIS ESPECIAL MODEL. AS WHERE POSH SEATS AND FULL LUXURY HEADLINING. VEHICLE USED AS VINEYARD VEHICLE UNTIL 2006 AND IT STARTED TO USE OIL SO WAS PUT AWAY AND ANOTHER LAND ROVER SANTANA PURCHASED. SEVERAL YEARS AGO THE SON OF THE LADY OWNER DECIDED TO FIX IT UP. THE LOCAL ENGINEERS TOTALLY REBUILT THE ENGINE AND FITTED A NEW (NOT REBUILT) CLUTCH AND GEARBOX AT THE SAME TIME. REAR PROPSHAFT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS CHANGED SAME TIME. THEN USED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. AND TIME AGAIN TO LIVE IN THE STABLE BLOCK AGAIN..OH YES..YOU WOULD HAVE LOVED TO OWN THE OTHER VEHICLES IN THE STABLE BLOCK WHEN WE COLLECTED... THEN RECENTLY IT WAS DECIDED TO LET IT GO AND ITS HERE NOW. BEFORE COLLECTION. ITS LOVELY ORIGINAL OWNERS GAVE IT TO THE LOCAL ENGINEERS TO MAKE IT READY FOR ITS TRIP AS I ADVISED WE DONT COLLECT ON TRAILER BUT ALWAYS DRIVE THEM...HEY ITS THE ONLY FUN WE GET HEHEHEHEEHHE. SO, A NEW BRAKE SYSTEM WAS FITTED...AND WE MEAN..FROM BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER DOWN TO THE WHEELS, INCLUDING HOSES AND SEVERAL COPPER BRAKE PIPES...HOW DOES IT STOP...MODERN..A NICE SOFT SMOOTH PEDAL. AND VERY INTERESTINGLY THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS EQUALLY SMOOTH AND LIGHT IN OPERATION, WONDER WHAT BRAKE FLUID THEY USE..WE WANT SOME. A NEW BATTERY AND SEVERAL OTHER THINGS CHANGED INCLUDING TYRES AND IT WAS READY TO GO. AND AFTER 1247 MILES ITS HERE.. WE INTEND TO GIVE IT A 240 POINT SERVICE AND CHECK BEFORE IT GOES TO NEW CUSTODIAN. BUT IF YOUR THE LUCKY NEW OWNER..WE CAN OFFER ANY TYPE OF UPDATE, DO ASK..BUT PERSONALLY, LIKE A SECOND HAND DOG (ALL OUR PETS APART FROM THE HORSE ARE USED SECOND HAND MODELS..INCLUDING THE LAND ROVER BOY HENRY HOUND IN PHOTOS) I WOULD USE IT AND LOVE IT AS IS...THEN DECIDE IF ANY UPDATES ARE REQUIRED. Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations could build standalone models
Sun, Mar 8 2015Jaguar Land Rover may be set to turn its Special Vehicle Operations division into something much bigger than a mere in-house tuner. Bloomberg spoke to the head of JLR's high-performance, customization outfit, John Edwards, who hinted that his team may move beyond simply modifying F-Types, Range Rovers and the like. "We're certainly looking at that, and we've got the capability to do that," Edwards told AN. "Is there an opportunity for us to do a completely standalone car? Maybe." Such a move into full-scale, standalone models would be a big step, particularly for a division that's still kind of in its infancy. Bloomberg references the success of Mercedes-AMG, but the German division has had the benefit of decades of growth. AMG spent years and years building high-performance versions of all manner of mainstream Mercedes vehicles, before moving onto cars like the SLS AMG and AMG GT, which have no mainstream analog. In other words, AMG had a long time to develop a reputation building high-performance vehicles that people know and recognize before it moved into building vehicles of its own. We aren't entirely convinced that SpecOps wouldn't benefit from taking a similar approach, delivering additional SVR vehicles, like the rumored XE SVR, before striking out on its own. We'd like to know what you think, though. Is it already time for Special Vehicle Operations to build standalone models, or should it learn to walk before it runs by modifying more of Jaguar Land Rover's existing product. Have your say in Comments. Related Video:
Jaguar SUV mule doing Ring testing in Evoque clothes
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you. Until then, take a look up top for images of the Range Rover-bodied Jaguar as it tests at Germany's Nürburgring. You can also scroll down for our March images for the C-X17 mules testing on public roads.
We compare 2021 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport specifications to their ritzy Land Rover competiton
Tue, Jul 14 2020The 2021 Bronco and Bronco Sport are the spearheads for Ford's new 4x4 sub-brand, with the former taking the fight directly to the Jeep Wrangler and the latter providing Ford with a more rugged alternative to the Escape. We've already looked at how the new Bronco and Bronco Sport compare to their mainstream competition, but we'd like to see how the Bronco stacks up to another hotly anticipated returning nameplate: the Land Rover Defender. Not to leave its little sibling in the cold, I decided to browse Land Rover's lineup and see what might be a suitable counterpoint to the Bronco Sport. For better or worse, I found an almost-perfect fit in the Range Rover Evoque. So, how do these new American 4x4s compare to the Old Country's more-expensive alternatives? Let's dig in, starting with the big boys. As you might expect from the Bronco's robust credentials, it holds its own here against the more-expensive Brit. The Defender's higher price point brings along a good bit of power advantage with both engines, but that's to be expected. The Defender also has that trick adjustable-height suspension that the Bronco lacks, giving it an edge in practicality, and it can also tow quite a bit more. On the flip side, there are quite a few advantages to going with the Ford, including a greater number of choices in terms of powertrain. The available manual transmission on four-cylinder Broncos is a nice bonus, for instance, as is the option of getting either the base 2.3-liter or the optional 2.7-liter engine with either wheelbase. The Defender is a bit more restrictive in this regard offering only the inline-six on the short-wheelbase model. As an added bonus, the Bronco is a convertible. That may not necessarily be a "plus" for all shoppers, but it's certainly an added bit of versatility (and potential appeal) the Defender lacks. And of course, the Bronco can be had for as little as $30,000, whereas the Land Rover starts at $50,000. Now, on to the less-rugged siblings. The specs here are actually a little tighter in most respects, but the powertrain story is almost identical. The Evoque checks in where the Bronco Sport tops out, and the Range Rover gets an optional high-output variant of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four.
