1989 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4wd Pickup on 2040-cars
Swannanoa, North Carolina, United States
You are looking at a really nice example of the last Jeep Comanche pickups made back in the 80's and yearly 90's. Bare with me, I'm not an authority on these and I'm selling it for a friend, but I will try to describe it as best as I can. If you have any questions shoot me an email and I will get you an answer quickly: Exterior: It appears to wear it's original paint. The clear is peeling and it's faded, but it cleans up nice and is straight. I can't find rust anywhere, it's really solid and not beat up. Dent in the tailgate, two or three small peck dings is all. You will be hard pressed to find one of these babies with a better body than what we have here. Interior: Inside this Jeep is really nice. It's a bucket seat, console truck. No power windows or locks, so no expensive parts to replace either. It has a/c, which works and is cool but not ice cold, tilt wheel, and cruise control. Seats are great, not torn and ripped, console is good, not cracked or broken. Dash is not cracked, headliner is not sagging. Interior is unreal for the age and needs nothing in my opinion. Drivetrain: This has the legendary inline 6 4.0 liter engine. What else can you say about this engine. It's the one everyone wants. It performs great and lasts forever. Radiator flushed, cleaned, thermostat, overflow tank and cap replaced. Transmission is a 5 speed peugeot, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, slave cylinder, everything brand new. Brakes new as well, rotors, pads, hoses, rear shoes, master cyclinder, everything gone through. Rear axle bearing and seal new also, due to a small leak. Battery replaced at the same time as all the other repairs. Dana 44 rear axle with spring under axle design, front is a Dana 30 with 3:08 gears. Runs and drives like it should. In closing, you can tell by the condition, this vehicle has been taken care of, cosmetically and mechanically. I have invoices where he has spent over $1800 recently to keep this one in top shape. Check my feedback, I'm a straight shooter, everyone I sell to is more than happy with my descriptions so bid with confidence. Inspections are welcomed as well. If you have a feedback score of 10 or under, or a negative score, please email me first or the bid will be canceled. Sorry, these ads are expensive and I've had problems lately. With that said, don't hesitate to email me if you need more pics or a question answer. Thanks for looking. FCA and Peugeot reportedly agree on merger
Wed, Oct 30 2019Citing a Wall Street Journal report, the Detroit Free Press says "Fiat Chrysler and PSA Groupe have agreed to merge." The Journal reported on talks between the two car companies only yesterday. It's said that Peugeot's board met yesterday to approve the deal, FCA's board met today, and an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow, Thursday. Both automakers have released statements, but neither company has released any information beyond admitting to ongoing talks. If the merger happens, the combined entity would become the world's fourth-largest carmaker with a $50 billion valuation, slotting in behind Toyota, the Volkswagen Group, and the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance. Among the merger options possible, "an all-stock merger of equals" is the one analysts and Moody's seem to give the best grade. The reported merger would come about four months after FCA walked away from merger talks with Renault. FCA said the French government scuppered those talks over the role of Nissan in a reformed entity, but there were also brewing issues with French unions, and ongoing turmoil among Renault and Nissan leadership thanks to continuing fallout from ex-CEO Carlos Ghosn's arrest last year. FCA makes most of its revenue in the U.S. and rules Italy, while Peugeot is the second-best-selling automaker in Europe with its own brand in France and Opel in Germany. The two companies already have a partnership in Europe making vans, one that FCA CEO Mike Manley has spoken highly of. Among the list of obvious benefits in a potential merger, FCA would get access to Peugeot's small, modern platforms, $10.2 billion in cash, and electrified and hybrid architecture developments, the latter especially important to FCA as those are fields where it lags. Peugeot would get much easier access to the U.S. market, and the money-printing brands Jeep and Ram. A merged carmaker would have combined sales of nearly 9 million a year, based on 2018 results. By comparison, both Volkswagen and Toyota sell over 10 million cars a year, while the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance almost 11 million. Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares has proved he knows how to do turnarounds and mergers. After leaving a position as Carlos Ghosn's right-hand man in 2012, Tavares took over Peugeot in 2014, navigated a bailout from the French government and China's Dongfeng Motors in 2015, and turned PSA into a regional powerhouse.
Jeep Wrangler to remain in Toledo, get a pickup version
Tue, Sep 1 2015Production of the Jeep Wrangler is staying in Toledo, OH, and it might be getting a pickup in the near future, according to Automotive News. Meanwhile, Cherokee production is leaving Ohio. The announcement was reportedly made to plant management earlier today. "We found a solution that accommodates a variety of other interests to us because of the way in which we can move some product around," CEO Sergio Marchionne said to Automotive News. A Jeep spokesman declined to comment to Autoblog. Right now the official details about FCA's production plans are still hazy. However, an official announcement is expected when the automaker has a deal with the UAW, which could be by Sept. 14. According to insiders speaking to AN, the Wrangler pickup would join the lineup in 2017 or 2018. While losing the Cherokee doesn't help the Toledo factory, the new pickup should take up some of the slack. It also keeps Wrangler production going in Ohio until the next-generation model launches in 2018. The Cherokee is expected to move to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant in Michigan or Belvidere Assembly in Illinois because they build vehicles on the same platform, AN reports. The future of Wrangler production has been a hot topic at the Toledo plant for the entire year. There was initial speculation that model might leave the factory if it moved to an aluminum body. However, the latest reports offered some hope of the Jeep remaining there. Last week, Autoblog's sources at FCA also said that the Wrangler pickup was coming but couldn't confirm a timeframe. Jeep driver nearly gets washed away by fast moving river
Wed, May 11 2016Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. For example, you should never attempt to cross a fast-moving river in a bone stock Grand Cherokee no matter how shallow the river looks. Especially if you don't know what you're doing. A video posted recently to the Facebook group Jeep EXPERIENCE, shows an inexperienced jeep driver learning that lesson the hard way. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The video starts innocently enough, with a group of off-roaders watching one of their friends attempt to ford a shallow looking river. Things quickly go sideways however, when the driver of the silver Grand Cherokee just plunges right in and quickly gets in over his head. The river is moving faster than the driver thinks it is, the driver panics, makes some bad decisions, then the jeep is turned over and swept downstream. Eventually, the jeep is hauled out by a Land Rover after a long comedy of errors that involves one guy losing his trousers to the current and the Cherokee ingesting untold gallons of water. What went wrong here? Well, It's pretty obvious from the video that the Cherokee driver didn't have a clear idea of where he was going or about the condition of the riverbed. He chickened out halfway across the river, and in what appears to be a misguided attempt at turning back, he reverses, digs himself deeper in the riverbed, then turned broadside on into the current. When he changes his mind again and decides to just gun it for the opposite shore, he drives directly into a deep water hazard that would have been obvious to an experienced off-roader. At that point the jeep and the driver were doomed. Hopefully the driver learned a lesson here, and hopefully he didn't pollute that river too much with the jeep's fluids.
