Yes 253,000 is a lot of miles. But the Jeep 4.0 is one of the most durable motors ever made and this one was well cared for.even with these miles it books for over $3,700 in KBB. This vehicle passes emissions easily, and was a 2 owner vehicle. It starts every time. It runs quiet, no lifter noises or engine knocks. It was primarily used for trips to and from work which varied from 180 miles a day to 250 per day....Oil was changed regularly and maintenance was kept up on it. Is has minimal rust on the center of the driver side door bottom and rear on same side...I have treated that with rust fix, this turns the rust back to black iron. It has a few chips and things you would expect from a highway driven vehicle. No major dents or damage anywhere. The air conditioning will need a recharge and you're good to go. It has a 6 cylinder 4.0 tough as nails motor that doesn't smoke or knock...good second car or teen starter vehicle. It get about 20 to 24 miles per gallon depending on how heavy your foot is on the gas. 4 wheel drive works great. Heater is top notch and it has cruise and rear defrost with wiper. New wipers on front. clean inside with inside spare tire mount in rear cargo bay. Tires have about 15 to 20 thousand left on them. It has an engine block heater that works and luggage rack on the top, and fog lamps. It also has a towing set up for hauling...Plenty of torque for the winter or pulling. Are we about to see a real SUV revival?

Now that the marketplace has been oversaturated with cute-utes, crossovers, and CUV coupes, are we about to see a resurgence of real, honest-to-God SUVs? Ummm... maybe. The stars seem to be aligning in that direction, at least that's the sense I'm getting. We know an all-new Jeep Wrangler is only a few auto shows away; and that Jeep is about to introduce a new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for 2017, in the same rugged spirit of the successful Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawks. Ford has hinted at a neo-Bronco, after showing the concept above in 2014 to wet the mouths of all those Duck Dynasty-types out there. And, and... wait for it... I recently learned that Subaru sent a questionnaire out to some Forester owners asking if they might be interested in an off-road package if it were offered. The items listed were pretty hardcore, serious stuff, such as: integrated tow/recovery hooks, additional ground clearance, more rugged wheels, skid plates, altimeter, front-view off-road camera, improved approach and departure angles, advanced differentials, Inclinometer, full-size spare tire, upgraded off-road suspension components, more aggressive tires, off-road driving mode (engine, transmission, throttle, and steering settings), more rugged styling, low-range gearing, and a more advanced traction management system. Folks that's not my wish list (well, actually it is), but those are words from Subaru, asking if that's what customers would like to see. Need proof? Go to the SubaruForester.org website. It's in a discussion there. So... no promises or guarantees here, and feel free to call me a rumormonger if you like; but the next few years could prove very interesting for those who actually do go off road. Next Jeep Wrangler to get hybrid option?

This may the year a Jeep hybrid is officially announced. Really. The Chrysler division may finally be making plans for its first gas-electric powertrain to help boost the group's fuel economy, says UK's Auto Express, citing Mike Manley, CEO of FCA's Jeep division. The guinea pig of sorts may be the Wrangler, which moved almost a quarter-million units in the US last year. The Wrangler could get a hybrid drivetrain by the 2017 model year, as Jeep executives look to maintain the model's feel and torque while boosting its fuel economy. The Wrangler gets a pretty paltry 18 miles per gallon combined out of its six-cylinder mill, so the bar's set pretty low. Of course, we've heard this talk before. In late 2013, Chrysler Asia-Pacific product planning manager Steve Bartoli told Australia's Drive that a Jeep hybrid was pretty much inevitable, though not much has been mentioned since. FCA could use all the help it can get in the fuel economy department. The group brought up the rear among automakers when it came to fuel efficiency, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said in its EPA Trends report released last October. The FCA models combined for a 21.1 miles per gallon average for the 2014 model year, compared to the 24.2 mpg overall industry average. The group's only electric vehicle in the US is the low-volume Fiat 500e, though the company may start selling a plug-in hybrid version of its Chrysler Town & Country by the end of the year.
