1995 Jeep Cherokee
Factory Right Hand Drive
 61,293 miles (98,861 kilometers)

Kenwood Stereo with USB and removable faceplate.
Alpine rear speakers

Purchased in August 2008 for rural mail route and used for a couple years before getting an FFV for the route, after which it was used in winter during storms. Use very little the last couple years because of easy winters.
Now I can use it only in emergency situations so its time for a new owner.
It is a factory  RHD made for export to Japan and brought back to the USA.
I drove it home from California added the radio and rear speakers, General tires (spare has never been used) and Bilstein front shocks.
Radiator was flushed, and a four wheel alignment done. Brakes and rotors are fairly recent, as well as a transmission fluid flushing, new pan and line.
It has a small dent in the rear lift gate, some chips in the paint on the hood.
Right side body stripe is off but I have it.
Tires still good.
Air conditioner needs a recharge.
It was not working a few years ago when I last used it but worked well after a recharge so it probably has a leak in the line.
The drivers side window switch is a bit tricky to work but once you get the hang of it it is fine.
It's always been this way and I have never had a problem.
There is a bit of whine from the rear end (maybe a bearing in the rear differential) but again no problems.
Exhaust is good but needs a rear hanger, and the frame has some rust as to be expected of a vehicle that is 18 years old.
All in all it's been a good reliable vehicle, and if I used it more often I would keep it.
Vehicle is sold as is.

Chrysler investigating complaints of vehicles with faulty power modules

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Chrysler owners are hopping mad after experiencing a series of electrical gremlins in some of the company's vehicles. Issues range from mere annoyances - windows rolling down and radios turning off of their own accord - to serious safety issues, with headlights that randomly shut off at night and cars that stall and refuse to start.
The issues are being blamed on the total integrated power module, which can cost up to $1,000 for customers to replace. This, of course, has led to a hefty batch of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with 240 owners expressing their displeasure so far. Another site, CarComplaints.com, has registered over 300 complaints relating to the 2010 to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, alone, according to The New York Times.
Chrysler has acknowledged that it's investigating the complaints and is analyzing the faulty TIPMs, but that isn't quite enough for customers of the affected vehicles. The newspaper has snagged a few of the more harrowing tales with the electrically challenged Chrysler products, culled from the NHTSA complaints.

2014 Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

The Cherokee Is Dead. Long Live The Cherokee.
There are three sentences that, for this reviewer, define what needs to be conveyed about the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The first: it is very good.
Jeep spent 27 years building the Cherokee and its brand, from 1974 to 2001. Twelve years ago, the Cherokee nameplate rolled away into the distant hills and retirement, at least here in the NAFTA colonies, and it was replaced by a loaded word we knew as "Liberty."

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.
