I bought this Jeep about 5 years ago and have spent a lot of time and energy building it up. The paint and body work was the first item completed and has some light scuffs as shown in the pics, went retro with the front grill and headlights, 6" BJ's lift, 35" KM2's (less than 5k miles) on M/T wheels, boxed the frame, moved the spare to the rear bumper to install a larger fuel tank in it's place. Stock Dana 44's front/rear. I swapped out the front seats with a pair of leather power dodge electric seats, kept factory rear seat. Replaced the carpet, stereo/speakers, new guages. Almost every item BJ's Off Road sells has been installed.

The engine is an original AMC 401 that was bored only 10 over to clean it up. The stock crank was offset ground to use chevy sized rods to increase the stroke, then balanced with the rods and pistons as an assembly, it is now about 418 ci. Custom Diamond pistons with 10.5:1 compression, file fit rings, Barry Allen ported heads, block machine work and build up of short block was by Stockton Machine Shop in CA (over $8500 and 4 months in short block). Each step of the machine work was done to match each component, including decking the block to match TDC of the 4 corner pistons. Comp Cams roller cam, Comp Cams solid roller lifters with Harland Sharp roller rockers. Holley fuel pump and Truck Avenger Carp on Edelbrock Air-Gap intake. All MSD ignition including wires. Due to the high compression this Jeep requires premium fuel. BJ's aluminum radiator/electric fan combo with matching aluminum overflow and washer containers. Custom ceramic coated headers with dual 3" side exiting exhaust through Magnaflow mufflers. Both the intake and headers were port matched to the heads. Rebuilt TH400 trans with all the performance upgrades, Alto Red clutches, deep aluminum with cooling fins pan, etc (over $2500 in trans build). B&M Racing transmission cooler with self contained fan and temp switch.  Additional electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. Custom serpentine belt system instead of V-belts. Power brake booster replaced by a hydraulic system (Chevy hydroboost) for better stopping. Under hood and engine bay cleaned, sanded and sprayed with bed liner before the engine and related parts were installed. Added steering stabilizer, custom off-road bumpers with swing out tire rack and gas can holder.

I have taking this Jeep to trails in TN, KY, CO, NV, CA, and AZ, lots of fun, but I have been working in Hawaii for the past 2 years and just sitting in the garage is not good for it. Since I will probably be spending most of my time the next couple of years in Hawaii I need to sell some of my toys in Tennessee.

Before bidding please understand that this is a 34 year old Jeep, it has been wheeled and is not a show truck, floor pans have been replaced, all custom engine work etc. so I'm selling without any warranty or guarantee. I do have title in hand and can take Paypal. $1000 deposit within 48 hours, balance in 7 days.

Jeep sets all-time sales record in 2012

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

Last year was good to Jeep. Chrysler has announced its trail-rated brand set an all-time global sales record in 2012 by moving 701,626 units. That number easily surpasses the previous record set in 1999 when Jeep sold 675,494 models. All told, the brand saw a 19-percent sales increase worldwide over 2011, and much of that swell can be traced directly to the Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee led Jeep sales, the Wrangler posted record numbers both globally and within the US, moving 194,142 and 141,669 units in each market, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Compass beat its previous global sales record with 103,321 units rolling off of dealer lots. In the US, Jeep sold 62,010 Patriot units, breaking that model's previous record as well. Jeep's impressive performance in 2012 marks the second year in a row the brand has seen double-digit percentage sales increases. Check out the full press release below.

Chrysler earns $1.7B in 2012, revises product plans for US

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Hot on the heels of Ford's earnings announcement for the year that was, Chrysler today reported a 2012 net income of $1.7 billion, up substantially from the comparatively minuscule $183 million profit earned in 2011 when it repaid its US government loans.
Chrysler's good year ended with an excellent fourth quarter that saw net income rise 68 percent from $225 million in 2011 to $378 million. Where are all those extra earnings coming from? Market share, which Chrysler saw increase to 11.4% last year on sales of 1.65 million vehicles. In fact, the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker out-paced the industry's market growth of 13 percent last year with sales up 21 percent for the year.
The company also revealed an updated product plan for its Chrysler Group and Fiat brands that looks all the way out to 2016. It's an updated version of the plan introduced in 2009 shortly after Fiat took control of the American automaker, and includes such new additions as an Alfa Romeo model, likely the 4C, to be introduced in the US this year, as well five more Alfa models by 2016. Likewise, Fiat will be growing by an additional seven models in the coming few years.

NHTSA boss Strickland weighs in on Jeep recall fracas

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

Adding yet another chapter to the ongoing Jeep recall story, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) head David Strickland has gone on record to defend the government's request that Chrysler recall 2.7 million out-of-production Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty vehicles after the agency investigated fiery rear-end collisions that have reportedly killed at least 51 people over the years. In statements made to The Detroit News, Strickland said, "We felt very strongly that the process that we undertook and the findings that we made and ... we made the decision to issue a recall request. We do not take that very lightly." The top US auto safety regulator stopped short of telling owners to park their cars until the automaker takes action. "They can make their own risk assessment and their own choices," he said.
Chrysler does not intend to recall the models, insisting the "vehicles met and exceeded all applicable requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including FMVSS 301, pertaining to fuel-system integrity" when they were manufactured and sold. "The company does not agree with NHTSA's conclusions and does not intend to recall the vehicles cited in the investigation. The subject vehicles are safe and are not defective," Chrysler announced last week in a statement. "We believe NHTSA's initial conclusions are based on an incomplete analysis of the underlying data, and we are committed to continue working with the agency to resolve this disagreement."
Legally, Chrysler has until June 18 to formally respond to NHTSA's request. If the automaker does not take action, NHTSA is expected to issue a formal finding and seek a recall.
