For sale is a 2000 Jaguar XJ8 L with just 75 thousand miles! This car is ready for the road, with absolutely no known issues. IT CLEARLY WAS IN A GARAGE AND TAKEN CARE OF FOR 15 YEARS! The Exterior: The silver paint is in superb condition. One must inspect very closely to find imperfections in the paint. There is a very nice, narrow, blue pin stripe down the side of the vehicle. The tires ALL MATCH and easily have more than 75% tread remaining. Breaks/Shocks feel solid and have no reason or need to be replaced. Even the radio antenna extends and retracts as it should. The Interior: First of all, is ROOMY! If you've never seen the back seat of the "L" models, you know how much room there is. The Gray Leather is in excellent shape. There are absolutely no rips, tears, or other major blemishes in the leather. All power options (windows, locks, seats, mirrors) work as they should. Vehicle has the CD changer in the trunk. A/C is ice, ice cold. How it Drives: As you would expect from the previous descriptions, it drives unbelievably. Drives straight down the road with no hands. (Doesn't pull one way or the other) Engine (4.0L V8) and transmission (automatic) are silky smooth. No shaking when brakes are applied. No check engine lights! Jaguar testing hardcore F-Type R-S GT?
Wed, 16 Apr 2014Some automakers make a hardcore model, then sit back and revel in its awesomeness. Jaguar does things a little differently. It takes a standard production model, gives it more power, bigger brakes and a tighter suspension and slaps the letter R on it. Then it gives it even more power, even bigger brakes and an even tighter suspension and calls it an R-S. Sometimes the engineers in Coventry don't even think that's enough, so they strip out some weight and dial things up even further and call it an R-S GT.
So far, they've only gone that far with the XK (transformed first into the XKR, then the XKR-S, and finally the XKR-S GT), but with that model on its way out, Jaguar seems to be preparing to give the newer F-Type a similar treatment. Now we can't be sure that what we're looking at is an F-Type R-S GT, especially since the 550-horsepower engine from the XKR-S and XFR-S is already powering the existing F-Type R Coupe, but it does seem to have all the makings of a hardcore performance model.
Compared to the existing F-Type, the development model pictured here has a bigger front splitter (like the one on the Project 7 concept), a big rear wing and a set of what looks like pretty big lightweight alloys. It's also, tellingly, a roadster, which (unlike the coupe) has until now topped out at 500hp with the V8 S model. So while it may be hard to say exactly just what Jaguar has in store for us here (or what they'll call it), one thing's for sure: it's gonna be fast and loud.
2013 Jaguar XF Sportbrake
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Editor's Note: Our reporter was anxious to get some time behind the wheel of the XF Sportbrake, even though Jaguar only had a very small window available for us to drive it. As a result, we weren't able to capture our usual original images to go with the Quick Spin story. Please accept our regrets, and Jag's lovely stock photography, instead.
The last wagon attempt from Jaguar was the X-Type, built between 2003 and that model line's unceremonious end in 2009. That X-Type and its legacy represent a real dog of a chapter for Jaguar, and for the Halewood factory where the barker was built. It was the final joke told prior to the brand's proper rebirth phase - a phase we're enjoying the heck out of today.
Current magnanimous Jaguar owner Tata can be thanked for this new wagon, the XF Sportbrake. Like all newness coming from Jag these days, this new wagon also feels lightyears more serious an offering, ready to compete squarely with established premium wagon makers across Europe. A Jaguar wagon in America is a far-off priority for the company, frankly. Still we deserve to know what we're missing for the time being from this (sometimes overly) cherished British firm.
Jeremy Clarkson's Jag going up for auction
Sun, 18 Aug 2013Fans of Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson might want to make plans to be in the UK next weekend. On August 24, Anglia Car Auctions in King's Lynn is auctioning off Clarkson's black 1999 Jaguar XJR as part of its classic sale. According to the auction house, the Jag was "originally the daily drive" of Clarkson and has had one registered owner since.
Clarkson's former ride clocks in at 93,000 miles and has an estimated price of 2,500 to 4,000 pounds. At roughly $3,300 to $5,300 in US dollars, that could be quite a steal for a hardcore Jeremy Clarkson fan. And with a supercharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and lavish interior, it's a luxury sport sedan lover's dream.
This isn't the first time Clarkson has crossed paths with Anglia Car Auctions. Back in 2009, he and fellow Top Gear stars James May and Richard Hammond made an appearance at another vintage auction to buy vehicles for a future segment of the show.
