Jaguar F-Type Checkered Flag edition marks 70 years of sports cars

Mon, Oct 29 2018

Jaguar's first sports car, the XK 120, debuted in 1948, right in the midst of Britain's postwar recovery efforts. Since then, the company has had decades of success building everything from lightweight roadsters to record-setting supercars. Currently, the automaker's performance lineup is led by the Jaguar F-Type coupe and roadster. To celebrate 70 years of building performance cars, Jaguar is releasing a new special edition, the F-Type Checkered Flag. Most of the upgrades are visual and are available on both coupe and convertible models. In addition to badges and logos on the rear bumper, headrests, kick plates and steering wheel, the cars will be fitted with brushed aluminum trim and black leather. The steering wheel will have a red center marker at its top. There are additional red and white accents throughout the rest of the car. The F-Type Checkered Flag will be available in three colors: Caldera Red, Fuji White or Carpathian Grey, all with a contrasting black roof. Turbocharged four-cylinder cars make 296 horsepower, while the supercharged V6 models make either 340 or 380 horsepower. The 380 horsepower model can be equipped with all-wheel drive. The F-Type R Dynamic package (not the same as the V8-powered F-Type R) packs revised dampers for a smoother ride. Other general changes for the 2020 model year include revised dampers on the F-Type R coupe and convertible. The F-Type R gets the SVR's rear upper ball joint, rear knuckle and rear control arm. A rear camera and parking sensors are standard across the board. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Jaguar F-Type Coupe patent images exposed, 4-cyl coming?

Fri, 03 May 2013

Last year, Jaguar told us that "if you get a convertible right, it's easy to do a coupe" in reference to a coupe version of the Jaguar F-Type, and now we might be seeing our first unofficial look at a hardtop version of the convertible. The German publication Auto Motor und Sport has dug up what it is reporting to be patent images filed by Jaguar showing the lines of the new coupe.
If these are actually patent drawings, they have definitely been enhanced with color and shadowing compared to what we usually see from OEM patent filings. We wouldn't be surprised if they are just altered images of Jaguar's C-X16 Concept, but either way, it's going to be a sharp car. On top of the new coupe, the article also says that the F-Type could be getting the same 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is currently used in the Jaguar XF, as well as the Land Rover LR2 and Range Rover Evoque.

Jaguar C-X75 and Aston Martin DB10 spied drifting during Spectre shoot

Fri, Feb 27 2015

Based on the cars alone, the 24th James Bond film, Spectre, is set to be one of the biggest and most impressive in the long-lived franchise. While we're stuck waiting until November to see the automotive extravaganza on the big screen, a lucky bystander managed to catch two of the movie's four-wheeled stars filming on the streets of Rome. Italian YouTuber Marchettino, well known for his videos from Ferrari's Fiorano test track, caught the video of the Aston Martin DB10 and Jaguar C-X75 filming in the dark of the Roman night, with the Aston sliding its way around a turn and the Jag giving chase. Not surprisingly, the DB10's Vantage-derived V8 features prominently. This is, of course, not the first time news regarding this chase scene has graced our digital pages. Spectre star Daniel Craig sustained a minor injury in the course of this filming, after the DB10 he was riding in hit a pretty significant pothole. We've also caught 007's Aston filming in the UK.
