1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES TWO ROADSTER. RED/BLACK. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS.

Up for sale here on Ebay is a very decent 1969 Jaguar E-type Series Two Roadster.
It has just been removed from storage for a period of about 20 years. The car looks very good cosmetically from about 10 feet, but close up the paint is showing some signs of it's age with some checking on the hood and trunk lid.
The interior appears very decent and usable. The seats are trimmed in leather, and would only require some conditioning. The softtop is a replacement type with no rips or tears and a very nice back window. There is a newer tonneau cover included. The chrome and glass look very nice overall. The chrome wire wheels present well, but the tires should be changed out as a safety precaution. The wood portion of the original steering wheel is starting to separate from the aluminum. All of the gauges and switchgear appear in good order and original.
Jacked up, the car looks solid underneath. The underside of the bonnet at the front looks really good, no damage. The hood could use some minor alignment/adjustment for a perfect fit along the bulkhead. The doors open and shut fine. The trunk lid sits a little proud, like most cars do.
This car has been fitted with a 3.8 Triple Carb Series One E-type engine and gearbox, engine number RA3203-9. The previous owner, who was very forthright, started the engine up with a battery and fuel that he gravity fed into the carbs. The car was yard driven for a short period around his property with great results. The car ran very well and strong, with good oil pressure. It currently needs some brakework and a fuel system cleanout at this point to make it a nice driver. He used the handbrake to stop the car, afraid that pushing the brake pedal could seize the brakes after the long storage period...
Overall, this car presents a good opportunity to secure a very decent Jaguar E-type 6-cylinder Roadster. With a little bit of mechanical recommissioning and minor efforts, one could turn this car into a very usable and attractive road car.
This car is located in Southern California and can be viewed by appointment. It is sold with a New York registration certificate which is suitable for export, as New York doesn't issue titles on vehicles past a certain year. $43,900.

Entry-level Jaguar X-Type successor due in 2015, crossover a year later

Mon, 26 Nov 2012

Jaguar's future product plans keep on slipping, slipping, slipping onto the internet, and the latest on it's entry-level luxury challenger is a 2015 due date. According to Automobile magazine, "most significant game-changer from Coventry" will be arriving on the same PLA platform that supports the Jaguar XJ and 2013 Range Rover. Kacher says the small sedan has already got the green light as codename X760, and will bow first as a four-door sedan, then as a crossover a year later.
This puts a date to a recent Autocar report that a small sedan and crossover were in the works. We've been getting reports of and concepts for a successor to the X-Type ever since Tata bought Jaguar - like the Bertone B99 concept last year, and this enthusiast concept more recently - since everyone knows it's what has to happen for "a new Jaguar" to succeed. We're looking forward to seeing what the English maker comes up with; if it remains true to form, it could be one of the few luxury competitors whose distinct model each look, well, truly distinct.

2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT claws at the driving enthusiast in us

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

If you still find yourself coming up a few seconds short per lap in your Jaguar XKR-S, the British automaker has introduced the XKR-S GT - a cat specifically tuned for the racing circuit - at the New York Auto Show.
While Jaguar has left the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 unchanged (550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque), it has tuned and tweaked all the items that really make cars go quicker on the track (e.g. suspension, aerodynamics, contact patches, brakes). A once-over reveals upgraded go-fast goodies including a new ventilated hood, extended wheel arch spats, reworked front end with a bespoke front splitter and canards, a massive rear wing, height-adjustable adaptive dampers, active exhaust, carbon-ceramic brakes and sticky Pirelli Corsa tires. Try as we might, the driver in us can't find anything we not to like about this enthusiast-tuned coupe.
Of course all of the upgraded XK goodness doesn't come easy, or cheap. Jaguar will limit North American sales to just 30 units and price each at $174,000. Learn all the juicy details in the official press release below.

This Jaguar E-Type is an even longer-legged feline

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Paul Branstad loves the shape and purity of the Series 1 Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1968, but appreciates the longer length of the Series 3 V12 model, which affords occupants a more comfortable space in which to enjoy long trips. So when Branstad brought his damaged left-hand-drive 1968 roadster from its home in the US to Classic Motor Cars in the UK for a restoration, he had a special request: restore his car, but make it a bit longer.
"This is something that we have never done before. Our client wanted the interior leg room of a Series 3 V12 E-Type but the aesthetics of a Series 1 car," says Nick Goldthorp, managing director of CMC.
For the restoration, CMC added 4.5 inches of length to the floor pan of Branstad's E-Type to create the extra legroom. Goldthorp relates, "The V12 was actually nine inches longer than a Series 1 but a lot of the additional room was behind the seats as storage and was not required on our project." That's because CMC also built a trailer out of two E-Type rear ends that attaches to a custom-made removable tow hitch.
