Sonoma, California, United States
1966 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 156K Original Miles, Restored California Car......please be patient while the many photos load.....Absolutely stunning numbers matching 1966 Jaguar XKE Series 1, 2+2 Automatic for sale. Same family since purchased from it's original San Francisco owner in 1975 with only 54k miles at the time. It's new owner drove it sparingly on the weekends until 1982 and put into storage with only around 55k miles on the car. Six years later he removed from storage and began to once again use from time to time, clocking only a few hundred miles over the next two decades. In late 2009 after retiring, he finally had the time to restore his beloved Jaguar. The exterior was completely disassembled, professionally prepped and painted in basecoat/clearcoat then color sanded and polished to perfection. All exterior chrome was re-plated (including the glass frames) and all rubber was replaced along with new lenses and windscreen. As the photos show below, the paint is so much nicer than the finish Jaguar provided from the factory. During this process the seating was sent out for rebuilding and treated to brand new, high quality leather hides. The engine compartment was tidied up, new suspension components installed, new stainless exhaust system, rebuilt heater system. Just few hundred miles before the transmission was rebuilt. Needless to say, the car starts at the first push of the button and purrs beautifully. The handling is as tight as the day it was new along with responsive braking and perfect shifting. During the last photo session I did it was 94 degrees outside and with the car running over an hour it never went above 195f. Over $44,000 was spent just on the cosmetic part of this restoration. Jaguar C-X17 gets liquid metal finish for Dubai show [w/poll]
Sat, 09 Nov 2013We thought the C-X17 concept looked pretty good when Jaguar unveiled it in Frankfurt a couple of months ago. But that shade of blue, while nice enough, made it look like it shared more than a similar name with the Mazda CX-7. No, what a Jaguar needs is a more luxurious paint job than electric blue. And that's just what the British automaker has given its crossover concept in time for the Dubai Motor Show this week.
What we have here is the same C-X17, but repainted in what Jaguar calls "a lustrous Liquid Aluminum liquid metal finish," and we have but to agree. What do you think? Scope it out in the fresh batch of high-res images above and cast your vote in the poll below.

40th Jaguar E-Type ever made sells at auction for lb88k
Wed, 30 Oct 2013The 40th Jaguar E-Type ever built, a right-hand-drive 1961 model, hit the auction block and was bought by an anonymous British buyer for 88,000 pounds ($141,310), ITV reports. The Jaguar had been stored at the previous owner's estate, in dry storage, at a derelict farm in Le Mans, France since July 1974.
E-Type chassis No. 860040 was bought by the previous owner in 1969 and was originally gray. But it was driven home to France and painted it in its current aubergine in 1974, before it was put into storage. During that time it was considered missing by experts, but there it sat under a dust sheet car cover for most of its life, so the body is in good condition. The family mechanic said that the car was last started about five years ago, and the engine recently was turned over. Coys auction house describes the original interior, which is also preserved well, as a "time warp."
Chris Routledge of Coys before the auction said, "They're sort of a mythical beast for enthusiast, at the time they were all handmade on special order, so Jaguar collectors look at the first 100 cars in a different way," BBC News reports. He added, "We estimate it to be worth between 20,000 and 40,000 pounds (about $32,100 to $64,200) but our feedback from collectors and interest worldwide suggests it could sell for between 80,000 and 100,000 pounds (about $128,500 to $160,600)." Of course, his revised estimate was right on target.
1964 Jaguar XKE slinks into Jay Leno's Garage
Wed, 07 Aug 2013The idea of altering a classic Jaguar E-Type might seem preposterous to some, but Jasen Len of XKs Unlimited managed to create a modified 1964 E-Type that stays true to the Jag's timeless design. Just a few months after Jay Leno featured his own original E-Type on Jay Leno's Garage, Len stopped by to show off his custom Jaguar creation.
Starting out with a rust-ravaged body, Len made the car just the way he wanted it to be. He started off with some minor changes to the car's exterior like the Le Mans-inspired racing lights and handmade front bumpers, handmade sills with integrated exhaust and flared rear fenders. Inside, he dropped the floor to make more interior space and reworked the E-Type's styling for more of a modern look. We have to say, if you're going to mess with a Series 1 E-Type, this is the way to do it.
Sadly, even though Len and Leno spend plenty of time talking about the car's 300-horsepower 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder, we never get to hear the car fire up. Check out the JLG video, which is posted below, and as a bonus, enjoy the gallery from Jaguar showing a 1961 E-Type.
