Local buyer backed out. This car has been relisted with a new, lower price!
This 1997 Hyundai Tiburon for sale is a one-of-a-kind head turner! I hate to see it go, but I'm moving and could use the extra cash. This car was purchased from down south and has *never* been in the snow. I got it last year and kept it in the garage over the winter. Here's some of the many highlights (But I'm sure I'm forgetting some): - Only 67,000 miles! - Custom chameleon paint job - Body Kit - Custom rims (All 4 of them are the 5 point design now, a couple older pics show different rear wheels) - Eibach lowering springs - Painted calipers - NOS tanks and setup including switches on the center console (Not hooked up at the moment, can't sell it with it enabled) - TV screen in the steering wheel (With chameleon paint on the middle of the steering wheel. TV also not hooked up for the same reason) - Playstation 2 video game system hooked up in the back - Polk audio speakers replacing the factory speakers - Custom trunk setup with 2 15" Kickers & Amp - Bolted-on roll cage - Gauges on the drivers side - Small fire extinguisher on the passenger side - Custom leather seats - Short throw shift - Stage 2 clutch - Cold air intake - Full exhaust system (Purrs like a kitten) - A button to make the rear lights actually come out from the car about 12". Very unique & cool! - Custom painted chameleon dash - Kenwood cd player that also changes colors Like I said, there's probably a few things I'm forgetting as well. This will do the 1/8th mile in about 8.6 seconds, so it's quite snappy! I had this delivered to me from down south and it handled the trip up just fine. You certainly won't have any problems figuring out which car is yours in the parking lot! As for "problems", there isn't too much. The handle for the glove box is loose, but this could probably be fixed pretty easily. Also, the subs don't seem to be all that loud. Might just need the gain turned up or some wire needs to be tightened. Again, my guess is it's a fairly easy fix. The cd player is a bit of a tight fit so it require a little tug to open it, but it still works just fine. Asking $4,500, but I may consider offers. I've already lowered it quite a bit at this point, so I'm fairly firm on the price now. |

China, meet Hyundai's new Mistra sedan
Wed, 13 Nov 2013If there was no Hyundai badge, the front end styling of the Korean automaker's new China-only Mistra sedan could have fooled us into thinking it was a refreshed Nissan Altima. Walk around for profile and rear-end views, and we can see more than a bit of Azera in the newest Hyundai, too.
But the Mistra is indeed made for the Chinese market, Carscoops reports, and with a 185.6-inch length, 109.1-inch wheelbase and 71.7-inch width, in size it slots right between the Elantra and Sonata sedans. On the outside, the Mistra maintains Hyundai design cues but loses some of the swoopy styling employed on the Elantra and Sonata for more straight lines and angles.
The Mistra carries its more-restrained-than-Sonata looks to the interior, where occupants will be pleased to find brushed aluminum-look accents on the dashboard, some nice-looking wood trim (if that's your thing) and an easy-to-read instrument cluster with a digital center readout, similar to that in the Genesis sedan.
How the Koreans are cracking the luxury market
Tue, 19 Nov 2013
South Korea's two largest automotive brands are no longer the same companies they were when they first entered the world stage.
Anyone who visits Seoul after a few years absence is likely going to be in for a shock. What was, not that long ago, a decidedly third-world city is today a thriving, sprawling metropolis increasingly on a par with the world's most modern cities.
Hyundai's zombie obsession is just good business
Mon, 07 Jul 2014In case you somehow missed it, Hyundai has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with The Walking Dead, the critically acclaimed zombie apocalypse show that entertains the masses while they're waiting for the next season of Game of Thrones. Fans of the show will recognize Rick, Michonne, Carol, Maggie and Glenn's mint green Hyundai Tucson, a staple vehicle for the crew of survivors, but the relationship between manufacturer and show goes far beyond that. There's a whole line of Zombie Survival Machines, as well as a special-edition production model (shown above). Heck, even Hyundai's post-LA Auto Show party featured actors staggering about as startlingly realistic walkers (TWD's name for zombies).
So what is it about the dead that quickens the pulse of Hyundai's marketing department? Ward's Auto has a great interview with Steve Shannon, the brand's US vice president of marketing. In it, Shannon describes the sudden nature of the tie-in between the show and the automaker, while describing how the company's corporate overlords in South Korea saw the results of the deal. It's an interesting insight into automotive product placement, as well as Hyundai's marketing philosophy and plans for the future (spoiler alert: the Tucson, which has had a role in the show for several seasons, was seemingly abandoned at the end of season four).
Head over to Ward's and have a look.
