Motorcyclist gives rude driver a taste of instant justice
Wed, Nov 30 2016A British motorcyclist proved that no good deed goes unpunished recently when he tried to return a motorist's wallet and got nothing but abuse for his trouble. According to the Daily Mail, a motorcyclist somewhere in England spotted a driver in a silver Hyundai pull out of a gas station with a wallet and cellphone on the roof. As the driver pulled off, the wallet slid off the roof and landed in the street, where the motorcyclist retrieved it. With wallet in hand, the motorcyclist set off in pursuit of the Hyundai driver, but when he approached the car the driver didn't seem too happy to see him. As the rider approached, the Hyundai driver tried to escape him, then spat a string of profanity at the rider as he pulled up to the car's window. The motorcyclist then flung the driver's wallet at him through the car's open window, whereupon the driver quickly changed his tune. "Thank you so much, bro!" the driver is heard saying in the video. The motorcyclist decided that he'd had enough abuse and wasn't buying the Hyundai driver's improved attitude, so he decided to extract a little revenge. He grabbed the driver's phone off the Hyundai's roof. He held it up to the driver of the car and then casually tossed it on the ground. Then the motorcyclist rode away, presumably believing he'd taught the rude driver a valuable lesson. Hyundai's 2015 Genesis Super Bowl commercial is Dad-approved
Mon, 27 Jan 2014Super Bowl commercials allow advertising and marketing execs the opportunity to let their hair down, have a bit of fun and get silly. That's why Audi's ad features a mutant, CGI-animated dog, GoDaddy's spot features a beefcake Danica Patrick and Kia has recruited Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus, from the Matrix films. Hyundai, meanwhile, didn't seem to get the memo.
It's not that its spot is bad, but it does feel a bit boring, playing a lot like Hyundai's non-Super Bowl advertisements - in other words, not something we're going to be talking about next Monday around the water cooler. Called Dad's Sixth Sense, the 30-second clip shows off the 2015 Genesis Sedan and its auto emergency braking system, after showing dad's saving their kids from what we imagine would be fairly painful, and in some cases horrific, accidents (tackling a hot barbecue, anyone?).

Hyundai's Western designers want a Genesis supercar
Tue, Mar 29 2016Will Genesis build a supercar? The answer is that it could, eventually ... if the Hyundai Motor executives are convinced by the Western designers they've hired. Speaking with Peter Schreyer and Luc Donckerwolke at the New York Auto Show last week, Australia's CarAdvice reports that there is a desire within the company to create a supercar to cap the Genesis lineup, but that it might take a while. "It's still some time away, something like this," Schreyer told CarAdvice. "All these things take a little bit of time. We're just at the beginning and things like that, you know, we need to talk about and develop more." Donkerwolke seemed even more optimistic. "I won't reveal the secret now because it's still my baby! Obviously, yes, this is part of the interest of designing a brand, being able to create [supercars]. It's not just something which we'll do, let's say a rational traditional project, but there will be some highlights." The Hyundai N 2025 Vision Grand Turismo concept is shown above. Both Schreyer and Donkerwolke came to Hyundai from the Volkswagen Group. Schreyer now serves as one of three presidents at Kia and chief designer for the entire Hyundai portfolio. Donkerwolke recently joined him to run the premium design office for the Genesis brand, having designed the Lamborghini Gallardo, Murcielago, and Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, among others. Joining the likes of the Acura NSX, Lexus LFA, and Audi R8 may be a priority for the designers, but they'll like face a difficult task in convincing the bean-counters in Seoul to ever green-light such a project. "This is very difficult for them, the company is there to exist," said Schreyer. "It's a business."
