For sale is a 2003 Honda S2000 in Sazuka Blue with all blue interior.  This car does have a salvage title but is in perfecting running condition.  The vehicle went into a ditch on the front passenger side which required the front knuckle assembly to be replaced as well as the front and rear bumpers.  The passenger side fender replacement is not perfect and can be fixed.  I also replaced the rear housing of the passenger side headlight so it would have all the necessary mounting brackets.  The brackets that the headlight attaches to are all in tact but need some adjusting to line up with the fender.  All mounting hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) came directly from Honda and I will be providing what I have left over which will be needed to reinstall the passenger side fender lining (which will be included).  The car will require a "pull" on the passenger side in order for the fender to line up correctly, as seen in the photos, but there is not frame damage.  The radiator support will also need pulled back but there was not any damage to the radiator.  The car will need a new convertible top and I can include a brand new Robbins top with glass rear window for an additional $400.00 on top of the final bid price.  This top has not even been removed from the box.  Convertible top motors work perfectly and top frame is in in good shape.

So pretty much it needs all the remainder body work performed before a rebuilt title can be issued, or at least that is what is required in the state of Ohio.  At this time I lack the funds to complete the necessary body work but I have driven it to obtain estimates to ensure that everything works as it should.  I have replaced the transmission fluid with Honda MTF and the rear differential fluid with Amsoil 75-90, along with installing magnetic oil and tranny drain plugs.  I recently installed new NGK spark plugs as well as replaced one coil pack.  The car has an upgraded front sway bar  and cross drilled/slotted rotors at all four corners but the remainder of the suspension is stock as well as the engine.  The interior is in good shape and the only issues are some wear on the drivers seat and the cupholder does not stay closed. All of the interior and trunk pieces are in tact and it has the original radio which is in perfect working condition. All four rims are good and rear tires have approximately 50% tread.  Will need two front tires.

The car is by no means perfect and has a few dings that will need to be tended to by a body shop.  I have shown these issues within the provided pictures.  As previously stated, I have driven the car and it has not shown any signs of any issues and does not have any CEL's.  The vehicle is sold as is and a deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of winning the auction.  The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements but I am familiar with a shipper and I can assist with obtaining a quote.  Full payment is due within 7 days of winning the auction.  Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to send me a message.  Also, this car is being advertised for sale locally, therefore I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  No trades.

James Glickenhaus' SCG 003 undisguised in street and track form

Fri, Feb 27 2015

For James Glickenhaus buying a factory-made supercar isn't good enough; he wants to develop his own. Following up on the Ferrari Enzo-based P4/5 and later the P4/5 Competition, Glickenhaus' latest project is appropriately called the 003, and he's finally displaying it in road trim. These first undisguised photos of the SCG 003S show off a supercar with a front end reminiscent of a Ferrari Enzo. However, the rear evokes the look of a modern endurance racer with a fin running along the spine. A wing at the back connects it all together, and the massive diffuser should keep things planted too. Development of the 003 has been going for over a year by Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, but the company has set quite a challenge for itself to get just right. Glickenhaus wants his latest project to be a true racecar for the street. That idea gets thrown around a lot, but it might be true in this case. In motorsports trim, the SCG 003C (pictured inset) packs a mid-mounted Honda Performance Development twin-turbocharged V6, but the engine sits in a detachable rear subframe. When the time comes for the road, the car converts to the SCG 003S and allegedly swaps in a twin-turbo W12. It makes the vehicle the best of both worlds – at least in theory. SCG reportedly plans to show the 003 at the Geneva Motor Show, so we should get a better look then. Glickenhaus also wants to take the car racing in the 24-hour events at the Nurburgring and Spa later this year.

A closer look at the motorcycle El Chapo used to escape prison

Wed, Jul 15 2015

Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, better known by his nickname, El Chapo, stands five-feet, five-inches tall. This defining trait – his nickname, not coincidentally, can be translated as "Shorty" in Spanish – is an important detail in his escape, as the tunnel that stretched a mile underground that led the drug kingpin to safety measures just one inch taller than Guzman's height. Clearly, this was a well-planned and executed escape. The tunnel that was custom-sized to perfectly fit El Chapo started at an abandoned building in the middle of an empty field and ended in a tight shaft that led to the shower stall in Guzman's jail cell. In between those start- and finish-points was an impressively dug-out hole in the Earth, complete with ventilation shafts, wiring for electricity and lights, and rails on the bottom to serve as tracks for a custom-built motorcycle that El Chapo apparently rode to freedom. There are specific traits that could be useful in figuring out what kind of motorcycle we're looking at. All of these facts are well-known to anyone who's been following the story of how the most notorious criminal in Mexico could escape from a maximum-security prison in broad daylight. Especially considering that this event marks the second time since 2001 that Guzman has arranged his own prison break. There's one detail, though, that has caught our attention. A close look at the images released by Mexican authorities shows us a motorcycle that's been heavily modified specifically to work underground. We can't be certain, based on the grainy shots and limited viewing angles of the pictures we have access to, but there are some specific traits that could be useful in figuring out what kind of motorcycle we're looking at. For starters, there's the engine. It's a single-cylinder, air-cooled powerplant, canted slightly forward. The exhaust exits on the right side of the bike, when looking from above, and there's a short chain guard on the opposite side. Granted, that doesn't narrow it down all that much. A look at the shape of the fins on the cylinder and the shape of the head, though, makes us think this may be one of Honda's ubiquitous CG-series of engines. A quick look at the bike's frame shows a single downtube, dual shocks and a steel-tube swingarm. That means it's probably not of particularly recent vintage, but we can't really pinpoint exactly what model it may be.

New Honda ads: Fix your airbags

Sat, Mar 14 2015

As we've heard on many different occasions, one of the biggest problem with recalls is getting people to actually report to the dealership to have repairs done. This is particularly important in cases where the recalled part can cause some very serious harm. To combat this tendency – you might even call it neglectfulness – on the part of owners, Honda is turning to advertising. The company is launching a multi-million-dollar ad campaign targeting owners of vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall and asking them to report in to have a replacement inflator installed. "Honda hopes that this new consumer information campaign will bolster our existing and continuing efforts to reach our customers and maximize the vehicle repair completion rates associated with recalls to replace Takata airbag inflators," Honda's John Mendel said in the attached statement. "These ads are a strong call to action from our company designed to break through the clutter, grab the attention of customers driving affected vehicles, and urge that they get required repairs as soon as possible." The campaign will kick off March 16 with full-page color ads in over 120 newspapers and 30-second radio spots in 110 markets. Because it's 2015, the company will also use sponsored Facebook posts "that mention the specific vehicle owned by each identified user." Yep, here's the future. Honda's ads will largely be focused in the 11 high-humidity states and territories (Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) most affected by the Takata recall. Several of the states were part of the initial National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation, like Florida, Hawaii, the USVI and Puerto Rico. "The goals of this campaign is to save lives and prevent injuries," Mendel added. This campaign will be worth watching, not only because they deliver an important message, but they could set a precedent for the handling of future major recalls.
