2001 HONDA S2000 ROADSTER

Extra clean - Low miles - Enthusiast Owned

Autosport Chicago is not just the everyday dealership, we are full blown car guys and we place all the knowledge and pride in what we do. This Honda is the perfect example.
This is simply a one of a kind automobile. It's the type of automobile where it will earn your respect and not many "sports" cars can do that anymore.
Original in every way and only driven 49k miles, we're all capable of doing a nationwide search and we'll find out right away that they've all been tampered with, motors have been modified to no end and/or raced around a track their entire life.

This S2000 was owned locally in the Northern Chicagoland suburbs for the majority of its life, recently traded in at one of our dealers. I met the owned while he was finishing the transaction to take delivery of his new car and had the chance to speak with him for a few minutes. He was one of the pickiest people I've ever met. The biggest repair he's ever had was the convertible top. The fabric had a typical tear so he paid the money for it to be professionally replaced.
Being the enthusiast that I am I have driven the car and eye balled every corner. I can honestly say there is nothing out of place. The vehicle drives the way it should, it shifts the way it should and brakes the way it should.
No major paintwork, no major cosmetic or structural repairs. Autocheck shows a front collision; I brought this up immediately with the ex-owner and he almost went into shock. He was very upfront and said the wife was parked at a shopping center and lightly scraped the bumper against another car while reversing.
He did what most people do and claimed it on the insurance, which is the right thing. Unfortunately these reports have changed the industry and not everyone fully understands what happens when you do place a claim through your insurance.

Take a closer look at our pictures, even though they really don't do justice. Feel free to ask questions before bidding!!

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Newest version of Honda's ASIMO coming to TV on April 15

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

Honda's ASIMO robot is moving into its teenage years, having originally been introduced in 2000, and like all teens, it's still learning. The bot has received regular incremental upgrades over that time, and the latest version will premiere on LIVE with Kelly and Michael on Tuesday, April 15.
The newest enhancements provide ASIMO with improved hand dexterity, the ability to use sign language, run faster, climb stars more smoothly, balance on one foot, jump and more. Honda says other new features will be demonstrated with hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on the show.
The ongoing development of ASIMO, which stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, is being done so that one day it can help humans who require assistance. The current version is 4-feet, 3-inches tall, weighs 110 pounds and is made mostly from magnesium alloy and plastic. A big limit is still its lithium-ion battery that only provides 40 minutes of charge. The robot has not needed human control to move since a previous iteration in 2011, which also improved its manual dexterity. It could even pour drinks.
