2016 Honda Civic Coupe spied inside and out

Honda may be prepared to unveil the 2016 Civic Coupe on Sept. 16, but that doesn't mean work is done on the eagerly anticipated new fastback. Honda is continuing testing, as evidenced by this latest round of photos, which even gives us a glimpse of the cabin. As we can see, the exterior's shape has been toned down compared to the concept shown earlier this year in New York City, although the overall fastback rear end, high beltline, and generally aggressive styling is still present. Closer details, particularly around the front fascia, are harder to discern owing to the camouflage. The last-generation Civic did things very wrong. It went budget at a time when compact consumers demanded more premium features, options, and materials. Things were so bad that Honda had to rush a lackluster refresh to market. But with the new Civic, it finally looks like the Japanese brand is on its A-game. While plastic appears to still be the dominant material, the quality on display looks like it's been elevated substantially. The steering wheel is small, relatively sporting, and wrapped in black leather, while the beige leather seats look to have a modest dose of bolstering. The switch gear looks good, almost like it's been plucked from a higher-end model, like the Pilot, while our spies report that there will be a better array of optional extras, including stuff that's shown up as part of the Honda sensing suite of technology. The Tartan Prancer is a 21st Century Wagon Queen Family Truckster

Have you heard of the Tartan Prancer? If you've been keeping up with the Vacation movie reboot, you have. The original flick from 1983 introduced us to the Wagon Queen Family Truckster, a George Barris-designed send-up of American motoring that almost immediately became a legend. For the Vacation reboot, the Prancer is the new Truckster, and it looks like underneath all that awfully wavy bodywork there was once a Toyota Previa minivan. Whereas the Truckster's unique feature set was mainly wood paneling and way too many headlights, the Prancer loads up on the kinds of features the 21st century buyer has to have, like a martini glass holder outside the vehicle, a gas tank, a diesel tank, and a plug to charge something, and four side mirrors. Inside, there's a drinking fountain. The video above is the Albanian spoof ad for the Prancer. It's in Albanian, but you don't need to speak that glorious language to understand the ad. It's a lot funnier than the actual movie clip showcasing the Prancer, which you'll find in the video directly below. The second video below is Edmunds' Carlos Lago doing a thorough comparo with the Tartan, the so-called "Honda of Albania," on one side and a real Honda Odyssey on the other. GoPro learned to hoop from Meadowlark Lemon

Wait, wait, wait. We promise that there's something to do with cars in this story. Really, there is. It also, though, features some basketball antics. And the entire thing is possible thanks to the magic that is the GoPro.
Strategically situated, the little cameras capture David Kalb, a master when it comes to making trick basketball shots. This time, he's showing just what he can do when launching balls through the sunroof of a Honda Civic. That includes dribbling and sinking a layup (although we think he may have traveled when driving to the net).
