For Sale: Looking for a new home for my absolutely fantastic, entirely babied and garage-kept 2011 HONDA ELEMENT EX 4x4 in Iconic Orange (a.k.a. Citrus Fire Metallic)! Low miles -- 18,865, give or take a few miles to keep it running and to keep it from feeling ignored in the garage during the selling process! Fully loaded - dog package! Four-wheel drive! XM Radio!

My price is firm -- but you will be hard -ressed to find an Element in this condition, with these features, at this price! In addition to the basic specs provided by eBay, please note that:

  • I am the second owner of this car -- I bought it in January 2012 from a Honda Dealership as a Certified, Pre-Owned Honda with about 13,800 miles on it and have babied it ever since
    • It had all of it's maintenance work -- including it's 15,000 mile service -- at Honda Carland in Alpharetta (GA) and I will make sure that you get copies of my paperwork/receipts
      • The Catalytic Converter was replaced with OEM parts in December 2012 at Honda Carland; paperwork will be provided
      • The oil was last changed in December 2012 at Honda Carland
        • I also had a clear coat applied to it -- twice -- to protect the GORGEOUS orange paint
  • Both sets of keys -- and their associated keyless entry remotes -- are in full working order and are included (although one of the keys showed some wear when I bought the car, with the icon rubbed off as shown in the picture)
  • I do not smoke -- and while my dogs have been in the car, they're (relatively) well-behaved
  • It came with mud flaps installed -- I added OEM fog lights, OEM carpet mats and the Honda OEM dog package, to include the dog bone rubber mats that go with it
    • Yep, two sets of maps for a car with rubber floors. Both sets will be included.
    • The dog package was never installed, but includes the ramp, the crate, and everything else; the badges WERE installed
  • It IS a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle -- and is ready to handle any terrain you want to tackle

It is financed -- so once your payment has been received, and funds have been fully verified, registration will be signed over to you and I will give you a copy of the check and title release submitted to my financing company. Alternately, you -- or your finance company -- can submit your payment directly to my finance company. We can sort out the best way to move forward once a deal has been reached. Regardless, any/all payments should be made in cash (in person) or via a verified bank check (preferably in person or via an authorized agent) -- and payment exchange will be handled at a bank to expedite this process, as well as to have the sales paperwork notarized/witnessed. Please note that cash will ONLY be accepted in person.

Please contact me via eBay messaging with any/all questions. I'm happy to help and want to make sure that this is a safe and easy transaction for both parties -- but most importantly? That my Element finds a great home. I will NOT be relisting the car -- this is it's last pass on eBay. I hate the thought of trading it in, but I need to get back to being a single-vehicle household!

The vehicle is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time to complete a sale. The car is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty -- although it is still eligible for the manufacturer's warranty, I believe. You'll have to check with Honda on that. The winning buyer should contact me within twenty-four (24) hours of the auction's end to sort out payment arrangements and planning for pick up. If you are out of state and want to purchase the car, you are welcome to -- but payment MUST be received AND verified prior to making any transportation arrangements.

Thanks for looking!

2018 Honda Odyssey bests Pacifica, Sienna in minivan crash, LATCH tests

Thu, Aug 16 2018

Honda has a lot to be proud of following the latest round of passenger small-overlap crash testing by the IIHS. The safety organization tested the 2018 Honda Odyssey, 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Toyota Sienna, and the Odyssey managed the best rating of "Good." The Pacifica followed behind with an "Acceptable" rating, and the Sienna brought up the rear with just a "Marginal." Both the Pacifica and Sienna lost points because the structure around the passengers collapsed to differing extents, leading to parts of the structure intruding into the passenger compartment. The Pacifica didn't intrude enough to harm passengers, with each injury area still having a Good rating, but the Sienna's structure intruded far enough to potentially harm the leg and foot areas, leading to an Acceptable rating in those specific areas. In addition to the small overlap crash test, the IIHS evaluated all three minivans for LATCH child seat anchor ease of use. Once again, the Odyssey aced the test with a Good+ rating, which is awarded for both ease of use and offering multiple anchor point options. The Pacifica and Sienna swap the crash test ratings, with a Marginal for the Chrysler and an Acceptable for the Sienna. The Odyssey and Pacifica can both brag that they're Top Safety Picks, and they'd get Top Safety Pick+ awards if they weren't hampered by headlights that only get Acceptable ratings. The Toyota Sienna fails to earn the regular Top Safety Pick award because both small overlap tests yielded results that were too low. Only one other minivan tested by IIHS has the Top Safety Pick rating, and that's the Kia Sedona. It earns an Acceptable rating in LATCH usability, and its headlights actually earned a Good rating. It hasn't undergone passenger-side small overlap crash testing yet. If it fares well, it could get bumped up to a Top Safety Pick+ rating. Honda Project 2&4 is our kind of sidecar sideshow [w/video]

Wed, Sep 16 2015

Honda makes cars and Honda makes bikes. It makes a whole lot of other things, too, but those are the two areas of expertise that have given rise to the thoroughly enticing Project 2&4 concept. It's one of the smallest vehicles unveiled here at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, but also among the most enticing. The result of a global in-house design competition, Project 2&4 was envisioned by the company's motorcycle studio in Asaka and brought to fruition with help from the automotive studio in Wako. It's powered by the 1.0-liter V4 engine Honda developed for MotoGP competition, driving 212 horsepower and 87 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed, dual-clutch transmission. With less than 900 pounds to motivate, that adds up to blistering performance of the kind we'd give most anything to experience firsthand. The 14,000-rpm redline would be enough to make our heart sing all on its own, but the novelty of Project 2&4 is its design. As you can see, it hands the driver's seat and controls off the side, with room for a hold-on-for-dear-life passenger seat on the other side. The neo-retro styling is inspired by the company's RA272 grand prix racer from the Sixties, but gives up on the center driving position for an altogether more original configuration. The result looks ready to take on the likes of the Ariel Atom and BAC Mono... to say nothing of the curbs of Suzuka and Fuji. If only Honda were (able) to put it into production.

Remembering the glory days of the Honda Civic Si

Sat, Feb 28 2015

In addition to watching host John Davis slowly age over his decades on the show, MotorWeek's Retro Review series on YouTube allows us to look back on some of the favorite models of yesteryear to see their evolution toward present day. Take the 1989 Honda Civic Si for example, which is newly featured. The name is still on the market, and the current model boasts 205 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque from its 2.4-liter four-cylinder. However, the current Si is being left behind in power by other performance compacts like the latest Volkswagen GTI, Subaru WRX and Ford Focus ST. Back in 1989, the Civic Si was still something of an upstart in the hot hatch ranks and definitely had something to prove. Remember, this was a about decade before the tuner boom of the late '90s gave these Hondas massive popularity. Though, the writing was on the wall for eventual success, based on the MotorWeek review. The show called it "stylish" and was attracted to vehicle's sharp handing, even with no power steering. Like today, power was lacking compared to major competitors like he VW GTI, but Honda's 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 108 hp and 100 lb-ft still received some praise. As always, it's fascinating to see how these now beloved models stack up when looking back. The high-performance Civic might be due for another surge in popularity too, if the forthcoming Type R from Europe ever makes to the US.
