91 Crx Si With Jdm Glass Roof Conversion on 2040-cars
Centreville, Maryland, United States
UP for auction is my 1991 Honda CRX Si project. I bought this car new in 1991 and I kept it for about 5 years. I sold it to a friend and she neglected to change the timing belt so she damaged the engine. I bought the car back from in 2000 with the intention of restoring the car. Shortly after I bought the car my friend's CRX was totaled. He was begging me to buy my CRX so I reluctantly sold it to him. He owned the car for 4-5 years and then slid off of the road. He damaged the front bumper cover, right fender and some of the suspension. I bought it back again in 2005. By the way the car has a clean Carfax. I wanted to restore it but that was put on hold since I purchased a new Acura NSX. It just sat in the garage while I slowly collected new parts for it. I replaced the front bumper cover, hood, both front fenders, both door skins and added the JDM glass roof panel during the body restoration. All parts are OEM Honda. I replaced all of the body parts because they were dinged up a little. I did not want any bondo in this car. This CRX was extremely well kept during my 1st 5 years of ownership. The car was completely RUST FREE before the bodywork was performed!!! The last pic is a pic of one of the quarter panels without rust before the bodywork was started. The car was block sanded with filler primer several times in order to ensure straightness with no waves and all of the panels were painted off of the car so there are no tape lines. I had the painter completely paint the doors (edges and exterior with all hardware removed) and paint into the jambs while leaving the factory labels in place. The glass roof was installed using the factory spot weld locations (they are the same as USDM roof panels) and a BNIB NOS glass roof molding was installed. After the base Tahitian Green Pearl (original color) was painted the car was color sanded before the clear was applied. The clear needs to be wet sanded because I wanted to finish assembling the car first and then wet sand it. The quality of this paint in second to none. The paint used is Sikkens which is one of the top brands on the market. Between the new panels and glass roof I spent over 3000.00 + the paint and body work. The pictures are not great and the car was dusty when I took them. The car looks much better in person. The car needs to be put back to together and I will include the following parts that are BNIB Honda parts. Center console with shift boot, radio bezel with pocket, antenna, shift knob, tail light gaskets, seat belts, cargo cover, rear cargo door that folds down for access to the cargo area (complete with trunk carpet), belt line molding (doors, quarter panels, and fenders), lower cladding for rocker panels and lower door caps, roof gutter moldings, chrome front H emblem, rear quarter glass moldings (rubber that surrounds glass), door sash / pillar moldings), fender liners, electrical portion of ignition switch, clutch cable, speedo cable, rear license plate holders, new headlight assemblies complete with bulbs, rear trailing arms, compensator arms and control arms (passenger side trailing arm is bent). Like I said all of these parts are BRAND NEW IN BOX from Honda. Most of theses parts are no longer available. Here is a list of additional parts that are used and in mint condition. I have the complete carpet from a low mileage salvaged car. I think it only has about 15,000 mile on it and it is VERY CLEAN. Climate control panel without cracks, cargo box, rear interior plastic (the both have minor cracks where they wrap around the trailing edge of the door openings which are easily repairable), NEAR MINT interior door panels (no seatbelt tears), e brake cover, glass roof headliner, glass roof map light, glass roof rear view mirror, center and passenger side tail light ( you need a driver side light), original seats with no wear (just had new foam installed), exterior door handles, 5 speed transmission, marker lights and front turn signals which are in exceptional condition. I could be forgetting something ... HA ! I will include 2 engines with the car. I have the original short block which requires a rebuild. In addition I have a built high compression (11:1 ?) engine with eagle rods, ARP bolts and Endyn pistons. Bottom end was just refreshed and the head was just rebuilt by Endyn with ported and polished, head, larger valves etc. I have a D16 vtec intake manifold too. You will need a distributor, ecu, header, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors. Car does not have the engine or transmission installed. The car also needs a windshield and the driver side rear quarter window will be installed prior to your purchase. I do not have a set of wheels for this car other than what you see in the pics. There are probably a few things that I forgot to mention. I am selling the car "AS is" since it is a project. I hate to get rid of it but I am looking at buying another car and I need the space. If make any offers please consider how much you are getting in NEW PARTS and what has been spent on the car. Just the bodywork, paint and glass roof cost about $10K. I think that you cannot have a nicer car than this one once it is completed. It would probably only take a few weeks to complete it. If I do not get the right offer I will sell just the rolling chassis and sell off all of my BNIB parts for good money. I would rather sell the car as a complete package though. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you pick up this car in person because of the large parts inventory. They will not all fit in the car so you will need a pickup and trailer. Check out Honda's sweet stop-motion 'Power of Dreams' ad
Thu, Sep 24 2015Television advertising doesn't just have to be the necessary evil that pays for the shows that you want to watch, and Honda is absolutely proving that with a new two-minute commercial titled Paper. Using stop-motion animation and a heap of illustrated cutouts, the spot showcases what the Power of Dreams motto really means. It runs through highlights like the success in racing, automotive development, Asimo, the HondaJet, and even lawnmowers. The result of all that hard work is spellbinding. The entire two-minute spot already aired during a few NFL games, and doing that was a serious investment. According to Ad Age, during the time that the ad ran the estimated cost per 30 seconds was $300,887. Honda is also prepping a minute-long version for TV, but you can enjoy the whole thing right now in the video, above. HONDA BRINGS 'THE POWER OF DREAMS' TO LIFE WITH TWO-MINUTE COMMERCIAL CREATED BY STOP-MOTION ARTIST AND INFLUENCER PES Elaborate Paper-Flipping Technique Artfully Tells the History of Honda Honda Brand Marketing Tone — Simple, Clever and Emotional — Will Carry Through Across Upcoming Advertising to Help Build a Long-Term Emotional Connection with Consumers Sep 21, 2015 - TORRANCE, Calif. -- Capitalizing on Honda's established, strong brand identity and its core belief in "The Power of Dreams," the company is launching a two-minute commercial, "Paper," during CBS Sunday NFL on Sunday, Sept. 20. After months in the making, thousands of hand-drawn and -colored illustrations from multiple artists provide the platform for an intricate paper-flipping journey to beautifully show Honda's history and range of mobility products. "The goal is for the marketing itself to become a demonstration of Honda thinking and all the people that touch our wide range of products along the way," said Tom Peyton, Assistant Vice President of Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "This commercial stands for the courage and conviction to imagine and make dreams a reality and speaks to Honda's innovative nature and respect for personal achievement and contributions." "The Power of Dreams" philosophy speaks to Honda's belief that drives the company's R&D and diverse array of advanced-technology products, and to the determination to bring them to market. This rejuvenated approach to overall brand marketing is the sum of Honda's best thinking and could only come from the company's years of design and innovation.
Behind the scenes of our subcompact crossover comparison
Tue, Oct 15 2019The cameras had been set up for almost an hour, and now, the living room filled with the sweetness of freshly brewed blonde roast. The late-summer sun had just started peaking over towering maples. In a week the colors will start changing, the inevitable sign of the coming gray skies and snow. Half past eight, the editors arrived. The Scandinavian inspired house that served as the headquarters for our subcompact crossover comparison couldn’t accommodate all seven of us, so they had stayed at a turn of the century farmhouse down the road. While geese, chickens, cats and sheep made for an authentic Northern Michigan farm experience, ingredients for a good nightÂ’s sleep they were not. Within minutes Red Bulls cracked open and short, cocoa-colored mugs appeared, filled with a variety of caffeinated beverages. “I thought we were gonna have fried eggs,” Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore said, smiling, before refusing a muffin. Associate Producer Alex Malburg ran from camera to camera, adjusting focus and exposure, trying to keep up with the ever-changing light, which poured into the room faster each minute. “I was promised food. IÂ’m not filming.” Consumer Editor Jeremy KorzeniewskiÂ’s sarcasm thinly veiled his true feelings. To keep the group content I promised a craft-services buffet next time. For the second time, we shot our comparison just outside of Traverse City. While we took advantage of a local off-road park for the first, this round proved a bit more tame, utilizing the hilly, winding, wine-country roads that define the region. An air of nervousness could be detected. Only one person knew the outcome of our test, Senior Green Editor John Beltz Snyder. I found myself both impressed and surprised he had kept this secret overnight, though I came to find out later that he revealed the winner to Producer Amr Sayour on the drive to dinner the evening before. The cameras started rolling, the audio recording, but the caffeine hadnÂ’t yet entered the bloodstream, with one exception. Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale sipped his lime green Mountain Dew. That seemed to be working, as he passionately laid out his argument for the Kia Soul and his preference for winter tires over all-wheel drive. From behind the camera I silently disagreed with him. “No one buys winter tires,” Jeremy argued. As we consumed more coffee, the sun came up, and so did the energy of the debate.
Lawsuit reveals gruesome details of Takata airbag victim's death
Sat, Mar 7 2015The accident was minor. The aftermath was horrific. Carlos Solis was waiting to turn left into a Houston-area apartment complex on January 28 when oncoming traffic struck the front-left corner of his 2002 Honda Accord, pictured above. He was stopped, according to a police report of the accident. The other car traveled at under 30 miles per hour. He should have walked away from the fender-bender. Instead, the 35-year-old married man was killed when a defective airbag exploded and sent a large piece of metal shrapnel into his neck, his estate's lawyers allege in a lawsuit filed Thursday in Harris County, Texas. He bled to death while his younger brother and an 11-year-old cousin tried to save him. Solis is one of at least six motorists killed by defective airbags made by Takata, a global automotive supplier. He may also be a posthumous poster child for federal legislation introduced earlier this week that would ensure car owners receive more timely information about safety recalls. Currently, federal law does not require car dealers to tell prospective buyers about open recalls on used cars or whether defects have been repaired. Legislation introduced by Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) wouldn't require that directly of dealerships, but it would mandate that car owners be notified of recalls when they apply for registration and at the time of registration renewal. "Important recall notices can get bogged down with legalese, and busy consumers can miss a life-saving update," Blumenthal said. "This legislation provides a common-sense avenue to ensure every driver is reminded and encouraged to make the necessary repairs." Such a law may have prevented Solis' death. Although his '02 Accord had been recalled in late 2011, his wife and lawyers say he had no knowledge of the recall when he bought the car used from All Star Auto Sales in 2014, nor did he know of the dangerous flaw when he set out to visit his parents on Jan. 18. Only one month earlier, Congress held hearings on Takata and Honda's long-standing inaction related to the defective airbags. Documents showed both companies were aware of problems with the airbags as early as 2004, and a report in The New York Times detailed secret airbag tests, the results of which alarmed Takata engineers. Yet the company withheld the information from federal safety administrators.
