1987 Gmc regular cab long box 2500 4x4 355 c.i. 5 speed manual. Engine has probably less than 5,000 miles, Comp Cams truck cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock Performer electric choke 600 cfm carb, and a thermostatically controlled electric fan. headers and 40 series delta flow Flowmaster mufflers. Exhaust ends in front of the rear axle. Has a 5 speed from 1988 up truck that is a huge improvement from the granny geared 4 speed. Has the stock 208 transfer case. 10.5 14 bolt rear axle with a Detroit locker differential. GM 8.5 in 10 bolt front axle. 4 wheel drive works but cannot be used at this time due to miss matched gears. Front is 3.42 ratio and the rear is 4.10 ratio. I have new 4.10 gears for the front and used 3.42 gears for the rear. The truck performes way better with the 4.10's. The tires are Maxxis Bighorn 305/75/16, which measure out to about 34". They have about half or more tread left. The body is in ok condition. the cab has been patched a few times, I was going to replace it eventually. Box is nice, some rust underneath on the cross rails. Has a push bar on the front with 4 kc style lights in it, 2 are hooked to brights and the other 2 are hooked to a switch. The bed has a roll bar and 6 kc style lights on it that are not hooked up but they are wired through the roll bar. The interior is nothing special, all there but the carpet. I took it out because it was holding water and didn't want to promote any more rust. I'm sure I'm missing something but you'll have to come check it out. I don't need to sell it but I haven't driven it since December. I only really used it for work. I'm a truck driver so it got driven to Medford, sat all week or more then driven home. That being said, I am usually not home during the week. I am NOT afraid to drive this truck anywhere. It doesn't leak or burn any oil. It does however like radiators, I've replaced a few since I've had it. I've owned it for about 7 years. It's not a new truck and things do break on it. And yes, it can and will go through mud pretty good. Email me if interested. Thanks for looking. Would also trade for camaro's firebird's and trans am's. Or a small fuel efficient automatic car in good condition.

GM tells NHTSA pickup truck electronic glitch is 'inconsequential'
Wed, 26 Feb 2014
General Motors has been enduring some serious problems with recalls recently, and it is hoping to avoid launching another major safety campaign. 200,921 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups are under the microscope due to a rare problem with their instruments, an issue GM calls calls "inconsequential to motor vehicle safety." The Detroit-based automaker believes that the glitch is so minor that it has filed a petition with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration asking the government safety watchdog for permission to pass on recalling the vehicles.
The fault at issue can occasionally cause the instrument cluster to reset when drivers use the steering wheel controls to browse songs from an external media device connected to the truck's USB ports. If a song's title information exceeds 2,000 bytes, according to The Detroit News, then the instrument panel can reset, which in turn causes the gauges, shift position indicator and cruise control telltale to turn off briefly. When rebooting, other instrument panel lights may briefly illuminate without their functions actually being activated. GM claims that if this does happen, the instrument display lights go out for about 1.5 seconds and the bulb check lasts a further five seconds. However, this snafu has no actual affect on the truck's operation. The glitch is present in trucks built between January 29, 2013, and October 28, 2013.
NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.
GM considering new powertrain options for large SUVs
Tue, 15 Oct 2013Aside from the new General Motors offerings, there's not a whole lot of action going on in the fullsize SUV segment. That doesn't seem to be stopping GM from pushing the envelope in the market as Automotive News is reporting that the automaker is looking to introduce some new powertrain options into the Chevy Tahoe (and Suburban), GMC Yukon (and Yukon XL) and the Cadillac Escalade - all have been redesigned for the 2015 model year.
Now, we already know that GM and Ford are collaborating on nine- and ten-speed transmissions for a broad range of applications (including the big SUVs), but this new report says that GM is also considering other options as a way to one-up the competition and, of course, to optimize fuel economy. AN quotes Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer for GM trucks, as saying that "interesting powertrain technologies" are coming including a return of a hybrid SUV and possibly even a diesel engine. Although it sounds like the latter could come down to how customers respond to the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel.
