HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN A 1976 STARSKY & HUTCH GRAN TORINO RIGHT DOWN TO THE CORRECT STRIPE AND EVEN THE SILVER BUMPER FILLERS LIKE THE TV SERIES. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS IT WAS JUST PAINTED VIPER RED LIKE THE MOVIE TORINO'S.

INTERIOR

THIS TORINO HAS AN AUTOMATIC COLUMN SHIFT WITH NEW AIR CONDITIONING.  IT HAS JUST OVER 28,000 MILES ON IT WHICH IS EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND. THE INTERIOR COLOR IS BLACK AND IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE DASH IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AS ARE THE DOOR PANELS AND CARPET. THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO STILL IN IT AND ALSO HAS A NEW AFTER MARKET AM-FM CD PLAYER WITH NEW SPEAKERS. IT SOUNDS REALLY GREAT.

EXTERIOR

THE CAR WAS A RARE FIND WHEN I BOUGHT IT WITH THE LOW MILEAGE AND WAS A NICE YELLOW COLOR. IT WAS A TOTALLY RUST FREE CAR AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES. THE TRUNK AND FLOOR PANS WERE COMPLETELY SOLID ALONG WITH ALL THE BODY FENDERS. THE FRAME IS IN PERFECT SHAPE WITH NO RUST AT ALL. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS RUST FREE AND LOOKS REALLY CLEAN AND SHOW-QUALITY AS SEEN IN PHOTOS. THE TIRES ARE ALL LIKE BRAND NEW AND HAVE THE CORRECT STARSKY & HUTCH RIMS. THE CHROME BUMPERS ARE IN GREAT DRIVER CONDITION BUT NOT SHOW SHOW CONDITION. ( SEE PHOTOS ) THE UNDER CARRIAGE WAS ALL SANDED DOWN AND TREATED WITH A RUST INHIBITOR TO PREVENT FUTURE RUST. IT WAS THEN PAINTED GLOSS BLACK TO A SHOW FINISH, ( SEE PHOTOS ). THERE WERE NEW REAR SHOCKS AND NEW REAR HEAVY DUTY COIL SPRINGS ADDED TO GIVE IT THE COOL RAKE IT HAS. LISTED BELOW ARE ALL THE NEW PARTS ADDED TO THIS CAR.

THE BUYER CAN CHANGE THAT FOR A BETTER SOUND IF NEEDED. THE CAR IS MADE TO DRIVE AND ENJOY AT THIS PRICE. IT WAS NOT BUILT TO RACE. IT IS THE PERFECT WEEKEND SHOW AND CRUISE CAR. YOU WILL TURN A LOT OF HEADS IN YOUR AREA WITH THIS BRIGHT RED TOMATO, THAT'S FOR SURE. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE 4 MORE OF THESE.

THERE SHOULD BE NO DISAPPOINTMENTS WITH THIS CAR. I WOULD SAY TO SEND A MECHANIC TO LOOK OVER THE CAR. IF HE CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR, I WILL FIX IT OR TAKE IT OFF THE PRICE OF THE CAR. I SUPPLIED HOLLYWOOD WITH 3 OF THE TORINO'S FOR THE STARSKY AND HUTCH MOVIE WITH BEN STILLER AND OWEN WILSON AND I STILL OWN ONE OF THEM. I ALSO OWN AN ACTUAL TV SERIES TORINO FROM THE 70'S AND SEVERAL MORE. I'VE SOLD TORINO'S ALL OVER THE WORLD AND SOME BOUGHT MORE THAN ONE. IF THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT YET. I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT YOU WILL BE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS CAR SO BID TO WIN. THERE WILL BE NO RESERVE WITH THIS CAR.

SHORT HISTORY OF CAR

THIS CAR WAS OWNED BY ME AND WAS SOLD TO A FRIEND. DUE TO A RECENT PERSONAL PROBLEM HE IS BEING FORCED TO SELL HIS PRIDE AND JOY FOR A LOT LESS THAN IT'S WORTH. I HAD ALL THE MECHANICAL WORK DONE TO THE CAR PRIOR TO SELLING IT. THE VIPER RED PAINT JOB WAS DONE BY THE SAME SHOP WHO PAINTED AND RESTORED MY TV TORINO. THE PAINT JOB WAS JUST DONE 2 MONTHS AGO IN MAY, 2013. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET A FULLY COMPLETED S+H TORINO IN TIME FOR ALL THIS YEARS CAR SHOWS. IT'S ALL READY RIGHT DOWN THE THE FRESH PAINT AND FULLY DETAILED UNDER CARRIAGE. CHECK OUT ALL THE PICTURES IN THE PHOTO BUCKET BELOW. YOU CAN NOT FIND A GRAN TORINO IN THIS CONDITION AND RESTORE IT WITH A S+H PAINT JOB AT THIS PRICE. KEEP IN MIND, THERE IS NO RESERVE. THIS COULD BE YOUR CAR READY TO GO WITH NO WAITING FOR BODY SHOPS TO FINISH IT AND TRY AND FIND RUST FREE PARTS. THIS CAR HAS ALL THE IMPOSSIBLE PARTS ALREADY ON IT LIKE 4 WHEEL LIPS AND ALL 4 ROCKER MOLDINGS.

I JUST SAW ANOTHER REAL NICE 76 S+H TORINO SELL ON E-BAY  FOR JUST OVER 20,000 AND STILL NEEDED A PAINT JOB AND UNDER CARRIAGE DETAIL. IT HAD MORE MILES AND I'M SURE DIDN'T HAVE ALL THE MECHANICAL WORK DONE THAT THIS HAS.

2015 Ford F-150 brings big aluminum to the Rust Belt [w/video]

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Just when you thought you'd figured the fullsize truck market out, Ford goes and throws us a massive curve ball with the 2015 F-150. The big headline news aren't tow or payload ratings, though we're sure those figures will be fully competitive if not class leading, they haven't yet been announced. Instead, the big headline news Ford is highlighting are the truck's new aluminum-intensive structure and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
And with good reason - all that aluminum means that Ford was able to cut a massive 700 pounds from the truck's curb weight. That is going to cause all sorts of great things to happen to the 2015 F-150's driving dynamics, performance and fuel efficiency, not to mention its ability to haul heavy loads. For those customers worried about the strength of aluminum versus the more conventional steel, Ford is quick to point out that many military vehicles, such as the HMMWV and Bradley Fighting Vehicle, use a very similar sort of aluminum alloy in their construction.
It's also worth mentioning that the backbone, a fully boxed ladder frame, is hewn from high-strength steel. Ford says "2015 Ford F-150 is the strongest and most durable F-150 ever," for what it's worth, claiming that "torture tested" in labs and in the real world for more than 10 million miles. What's more, the truck, in disguised form, completed all 883 miles of the Baja 1000.

Ford recalls nearly 200,000 Expeditions and Navigators for fire risk

Thu, Sep 1 2022

Ford is recalling 2015-2017 Expeditions and 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigators because the front blower motor could fail and cause a fire. In total, 198,482 Expeditions and Navigators will be recalled. In the official recall documents posted by NHTSA, Ford says that it “has not identified the cause of this condition.” However, Ford also says it is currently aware of 25 fire allegations related to the blower motors on these vehicles. Despite not strictly identifying the cause of blower motor fires, Ford put forth a theory in its fieldwork analysis of the issue.  “In June 2022, based on component analysis, Ford Engineering theorized that a mispositioned blower motor brush holder spring could cause an internal short or localized heating of the brush spring or holder. It is believed that when a fire initiates on the blower motor, it does so at the positive brush holder location. The variable blower controller would remain operational and there would be no signs of an overheated relay. Field data indicates that this concern typically occurs at a higher time in service, and on vehicles with higher mileage.” Since the blower motor is located on the passenger side interior behind the glovebox, the fires that start are interior fires. Ford isnÂ’t aware of any accidents related to this issue, but there is one claim of burnt hands and fingers as a result of a fire. According to Ford, warning signs of an impending fire or failed blower motor include an inoperative fan, burning smell and/or smoke from the instrument panel vents while the vehicle is on. To remedy this situation, Ford is recalling the affected SUVs and replacing the blower motor assembly with a revised part. The new part uses a blower motor assembly design utilized on other applications. If folks with these SUVs experience any symptoms of blower motor failure before the new part becomes available, Ford says they can take their vehicle to the dealer to have it replaced with a part of the same design. Once the redesigned part becomes available, the dealer will then swap it in. Owner notification letters are expected to begin on September 12 this year. 2016 Ford Explorer First Drive [w/video]

Mon, May 18 2015

I was still young and impressionable when Jurassic Park hit the big screen, and that movie forever imprinted the Ford Explorer in my mind. You remember the scene, but I'll describe it anyway: It's dark, raining and there's no power. The off-screen footsteps of a tyrannosaurus send shockwaves through the standing water in a plastic cup and the rain-soaked muddy roads. Seconds later, the toothy end of the movie's biggest predator crushes through the roof of a highligher-green-and-yellow Ford Explorer, causing all manner of mayhem to the SUV's occupants inside. It's not lost on me that the Ford Explorer used in the movie is, in reality, a dinosaur itself. When the seminal Explorer hit the scene in 1991 it was based on the guts of the Ranger pickup truck, which was no spring chicken itself. Ford's first real foray into the then-burgeoning SUV marketplace was meant to compete against vehicles like the Jeep Cherokee and Chevy Blazer, along with Japanese models such as the Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota 4Runner. In those early days, none of these vehicles were sold based on the merits of their car-like ride and handling or superior fuel economy. Nowadays, the discerning car shopper wants the looks of an off-road-ready SUV, but the inherent compromises and need for any serious rock-crawling capability faded away years ago. The current Ford Explorer is a prime example of this successful visual hypocrisy, with its SUV-like styling listed as the number-one reason for buying on customer surveys. SUV-like styling is one thing, SUV-like guts are another. In 2011 the Explorer went from its traditional truck-based chassis to Ford's D4 platform, based loosely on the Taurus and shared with the Flex. As with the rest of the unibody crossover world, that means the current Explorer offers an excellent ride, the higher seating position that buyers want, and a useful third row for growing families. None of that inherent family-car goodness goes away for 2016. With class-leading sales already in the bag, Ford hopes its latest Explorer will attract new buyers due to the availability of a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and an upper-crust Platinum trim level. Based on some time sitting inside and inspecting the high-content Platinum model (albeit without a drive in this trim level) I believe Ford's claim that this is most luxurious vehicle ever to wear a Blue Oval. Only not all its ovals inside are blue.
