THIS CAR WILL START AND RUN BUT HAS LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. WAS TOLD THAT THE HARMONIC BALANCER IS BAD. HAVE NOT VERIFIED THIS FACT. WE FILLED THE CARB UP WITH FUEL AND THE CAR ACTUALLY WENT INTO GEAR AND MOVED AND HAD SOME BRAKES. WE DON'T KNOW WHICH ENGINE IT HAS, IT IS A SMALL V8 WITH 2BBL CARB AND AUTO TRANS WHICH ONE IS A ?. THIS CAR IS ROUGH AND HAS SOME RUST ON IT. TRUNK PAN IS SHOT,FLOOR PAN UNDER THE REAR SEAT HAS HOLES IN IT THE FRONT FLOOR PAN FEELS SOLID BUT NOT SURE IF THEY ARE WHAT I WOULD CALL GOOD. THERE IS DAMAGE TO BOTH REAR 1/4 PANELS BUT NOT BAD, THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS DOOR. ALL THE TRIM AND LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE TRUNK BUT AGAIN WE HAVEN'T WENT THROUGH IT TO SEE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS CAR, I SAVED IT FROM THE CRUSHER THINKING THAT SOME ONE MIGHT NEED ONE. THIS IS BY NO MEANS A CAR YOU COULD DRIVE HOME BUT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR RESTO. Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms
Tue, 25 Jun 2013The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.
