You are looking at a 1970 Ford Torino Hardtop that is a very solid rolling project car. This car would make for a very simple re-power with your drivetrain from your rusty or wrecked donor car!

This car is done in Hot Rod Black with a White Interior currently, but originally was Q-code Medium Metallic Blue with a Blue Interior.

I bought this car specifically for the 428 Cobra Jet engine and transmission that were in it. Somewhere along the line a date coded 428CJ and CJ C6 found its way into this car and I had a Cobra Jet car in need of a dated drivetrain so I bought this car just to pirate the engine and trans out of.

It is an original F-code 302-2V, C-4 automatic car, there is now a 9 inch Rear underneath with  a Traction-Lok in it that works well. Before pulling the 428CJ out of this car I did a few launches and this thing layed down 2 legs like nobody's business!!

At some point a previous owner put a complete and decent 71 Torino GT White Comfortweave Bucket Seat interior in the car including the Console and Floor Shift Steering column. It is a very decent 'driver' interior!

The Hood from the GT car also managed to finds its way over to this car.

Car has some rust in the front floors up near the toe board, but is not terrible and the rest of the underneath to include floors, frame rails, etc are very solid!! The hood, fenders, doors, 1/4's and decklid are also solid as well. The left quarter panel was replaced many years ago with a NEW Ford panel and the right 1/4 had a small metal repair done down at the very bottom of it. The trunk drops have a little bit of rust; but are not terrible. Car also has a little bit of rust in the engine bay near the wiper motor; it is minor but I felt it worth mentioning. Overall this is a pretty solid project car(See Pics)!!

Prior to me removing the engine and trans this was a tagged insured driver not some sort of car that had been laying out in the pasture. This car was a driver and could be again with a minimum of time and investment.

If you have a rusty or wrecked car that has a good drivetrain this car could be for you as it is a solid platform to your build on or if you are looking for a home for that motor you had built that is just sitting waiting for the right engine bay to be dropped into then look no further!!!

This is a Solid car that with a reasonable price where someone could end up making themselves a cool hot rod driver for short money.

I have pulled all of the speed equipment (MSD, Fuel Regulator, Shift Light, etc) and the Aluminum wheels off the car since these pics were taken and it is being sold with a set of roller wheels on it.

If the winning bidder was interested I do have some wheel and tires available as extra cost either American Racing Outlaw Aluminum wheels or Magnum 500's. I also have some drivetrain options available should you be interested including a good running 5.0 Roller Motor and AOD.

This car is a solid rolling project for someone who is looking to put a little sweat equity into a vehicle and end up having a have cool cruiser with a very limited investment. If you look at the sum of just the parts on this car; (i.e. Complete 9 inch Traction-Lok rear end, Complete GT interior with Bucket Seats, Floor console and Floor Shift Steering Column, Solid Original GT Scooped hood) the big ticket items are worth what the price of the whole car is. This car is a great entry level Hot Rod that won't break the bank!!

Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Torino's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1970 Ford Torino is a 44+ year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1970 Torino project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully and make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!

2013 Ford Explorer Sport

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

When one speaks of sporty and fun-to-drive utility vehicles, few would put the Ford Explorer in the same category as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne. Yet, with just a few reservations, I'd toss the new-for-2013 Ford Explorer Sport close to that arena for consideration.
As a recap, the sportiest of Explorers is fitted with Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6, making 365 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque. Acceleration is brisk (figure about 7 seconds to 60 miles per hour), as power goes to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Contributing to its more athletic demeanor are larger front brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, chassis upgrades, quicker steering ratio and a more aggressive wheel/tire package. Cosmetically, the Sport is distinguished by its blacked-out lights, black trim and noticeable lack of chrome (with the exception of the door handles).
Ford recently handed me the keys to a Ruby Red Metallic Explorer Sport. Rather than mindlessly drive the big seven-passenger all-wheel drive hauler in soccer mom circles around Los Angeles, I loaded up my family and embarked on a long weekend road trip to Yosemite National Park.

How Ford made its 2015 Ford Mustang safer for toupee wearers [w/video]

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

Ford is ready to tell the story of its 2015 Mustang Convertible, the can't-miss bits being the easier, quicker and quieter roof operation, a more robust roof build for a coupe-like cabin noise, more trunk space, better visibility and reduced in-cabin buffeting. The top release system has been completely redesigned with a single, center-mounted latch on the windshield frame instead of the dual latches of before. The driver can now release the roof without having to lean over into the passenger space, after which the top goes down fully automatically with the press of a button. Ford doesn't say how long it takes to stow, but it's apparently done in half as much time as before, so figure around 8 seconds.
The roof uses a five-bow structure, with the fabric outer and full inner headliner sandwiching ten millimeters of insulation. Detailing work on the top has eliminated "unsightly folds" in the corners when the roof is up and made it more compact when down; its Z-fold assembly is 6.7 inches lower than before at its highest point when put down. Ford says the new electric drive internals make less noise when in operation, and the fully-finished droptop look is achieved with snap-in caps that flank the rear seating and stow in the trunk when not in use (the outgoing Mustang's top was higher and the front when folded and always looked like it was catching air and creating drag).
The compact roof and newly independent rear suspension setup in back means liberated trunk space, 11.4 cubic feet ready to swallow golf bags and tourist swag. You can read a lot more about it in the press release below, check it out in the short video of running footage and learn about the aerodynamic improvements made to the entire Mustang lineup that decrease drag and increase fuel economy.

Americans will get a four-cylinder Ford Mustang after all? [w/poll]

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

Ask and you shall receive. Remember that previous report suggesting that the 2015 Ford Mustang getting a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, and that it would be sold in Europe only and not the United States? Well, according to Road & Track, the rumor is only partially true - The Mustang will get the engine, but it is indeed coming to America.
Additionally, according to RT, the 3.7-liter V6 will continue to serve as the base engine, and since it offers up a stout 305 horsepower in its current form, it's likely that the 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost will produce a bit more than that. At the top of the range, the Mustang GT will continue to soldier on with a V8 engine, which should continue to send over 400 horsepower to the rear wheels.
Finally, while we agree 100 percent with RT's heartfelt request for a paddle-shift automatic, we certainly expect that the EcoBoost 'Stang will be offered with a manual transmission as standard equipment. This is a Mustang, after all...
