Its recent ground up nut & bolt restoration has been done to world class standards and is meant for the discriminating enthusiast looking for one of the best and most unique examples available. It's combination of rare color, authentic Ford options and accessories, and meticulous concours restoration combine to make it a highly desirable example of a popular classic.
Original factory equipment includes power windows, power driver seat, power steering, power brakes, tinted glass, push button radio, windshield washers and outside rear view mirror. Other authentic Ford authorized items include vintage tonneau cover (not a reproduction) and an extremely rare dealer installed Unity “Model F” spotlight which has been on the car since new! The car rides on vintage NOS 48 spoke Roadster wire wheels.
Mechanically, the engine and transmission have been professionally rebuilt and detailed right down to the original type hoses, clamps, wiring retainers and decals. All colors and details are as original. All operational components such as starter, generator, fuel pump, and water pump are rebuilt or brand new. All new fuel, brake and transmission lines have been installed with the correct bends and mounting hardware. The front end components are new and detailed with the correct factory markings. The steering box and master cylinder and booster have been professionally rebuilt. The original drive shaft displays the correct factory stenciling.
The interior features correct colors and authentic detailing with new upholstery and carpet. The original door panels and trim have been restored throughout. All chrome components have been re-plated or replaced, and other bright trim has been meticulously straightened, buffed and polished to perfection. All electrical components, including the radio, have been restored and are fully operational. Even the clock works!
All trunk compartment and convertible top components have been restored and detailed to the highest standards. The top functions perfectly in both directions. All weatherstripping is new or excellent original. The original jack is present and correctly mounted.
The exterior body has been stripped to bare metal and professionally refinished in the original and extremely rare Sandshell Beige color by noted Ford specialist Chris Robinson of Ryan, IA. All original chrome pieces, including window frames, have been replated or replaced with new. All lights and other electrical components work perfectly. The windshield is new and all other date coded glass is original to the car and in excellent condition.
The factory gate release accompanies the car, as well as the original owners manual which was signed in December of 1961 by the original buyer and selling dealer.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

We spy the Ford Mustang King Cobra early at SEMA
Tue, 04 Nov 2014As is the case with most auto shows, waiting for the reveal of hot new models is the worst part. So, while our own Drew Phillips has been wandering the halls here in Las Vegas since they unlocked the doors for SEMA 2014, we didn't expect him to come back with any big reveals until later in the day. Until this happened.
Meandering by the Ford stand, Phillips eagle-eyed a trunk lid that caught his attention. Popping out from an otherwise draped 2015 Mustang, the matte black lid clearly has the name King Cobra embossed on the rear.
That name is interesting for a few reasons: to start, Ford hasn't used the Cobra name (without "Jet" attached) since way back in 2004, so a new snake is certainly something to take note of. Second, the King Cobra name dates all the way back to the ill-remembered Mustang II, meaning there is a clear link to Blue Oval history here.
