The Beach Boys’ classic song lyrics “And she’ll have fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the T-bird Thunderbird away” reflected to a “T” the essence of the first generation. A young blond, cruising main street America with her hair blowing in the wind was a sight embedded in every guy’s brain during the ’50s and ’60s. Today, while the  1957 Thunderbird still draws many of those same memories, current owners are older and perhaps reliving the time when they saw their first T-bird or perhaps were lucky enough to have owned one. Ford officials initially had their sights set on building the two-seat T-bird which reached 21,380 vehicles in 1957.  This T-Bird Bronze with Coral interior is like new. Complementing the extra length in back were outward-canted fins atop each rear quarter, courtesy of legendary designer Frank Hershey. The car has "Special" rims, a new braking system, The coolant system has been re-worked, the suspension system for a better ride, new exhaust system, plus a "special Taneau cover for the cockpit area. Do not miss the thrill of owning one of these “REAL CLASSIC” cars.

Ford reveals new rapid prototyping and low-volume production techniques [w/video]

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

It's called "F3T," and that stands for Ford Free-form Fabrication Technology. The process that The Blue Oval has developed means being able to sidestep the weeks-long process of tool-and-die making when engineers want to construct a new part, allowing them to fabricate a three-dimensional part from a two-dimensional sheet of metal in just hours.
While F3T is being developed it is limited to "low-volume prototyping or even low-volume niche vehicles," but the next step is to evaluate it for use in Ford's global manufacturing facilities. You can find out more about it in the video and the press release below.

Mustang Cobra Jet prototype garners $200k for charity at Barrett-Jackson

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

A few weeks ago we brought you news of a one-off Mustang Cobra Jet that Ford was donating to charity. The car was set to be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Now that auction has taken place, bringing in an impressive $200,000 for MS research.
That's a lot of zeros for a Mustang, much less one you can't even drive on the street. But the unique pony car, bearing serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1, packs a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, competition gearbox, wheelie bar, roll cage... all you could want, in short, in a turn-key drag racer. And all that for a good cause.

Former Ford CEO Mulally won't run for president

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Alan Mulally will not be following his successful term as president and CEO of Ford Motor Company with a run at an even bigger presidency. Rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would make a run at the White House sprouted after his apparent dodging of a reporter's questions about a potential candidacy during a forum in Indianapolis.
"I really think it's important that we all pull together. We really need to pull together around a compelling vision for our country and a comprehensive strategy to do it and work together. We really need to do it," Mulally said at the conference, according to The Detroit News.
He's since clarified by saying, "[I'm] honored at the suggestion, but that is not a role I am considering."
