This 1957 Thunderbird was pulled into a body shop in 1969 and taken apart and paint stripped and stayed in heated  garage the way you see it in the pictures. I purchased it from estate approx. a year ago with intentions of restoring it. I really don't have the time due to other projects and need the room. Everything appears to be with car except for carb and air cleaner. It is a 312 Bird with a 3 speed trans. This bird is very restorable and has the typical Thunderbird rust of this era. The dash and gauges and Town&Country Radio are in very nice condition. Appears at one time they removed transmission by cutting the hump on the floor so that will need attention. There is a hole on drivers floor and drivers side of trunk floor. Frame appears to be solid with just some scale on it. Rocker will need replaced and there is a pair of rockers for it. There is also some NOS emblems and some other small stuff. Also a new carpet. The top was down all those years behind the seat and is in great condition. I feel some cleaning and some plastic cleaner for back window top would look like new. I DO NOT HAVE THE HARDTOP. Mileage is exempt on title. All glass is with car. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Car or title will not be transferred until all funds clear.I require a $500 deposit within 24hour of auction end!!!! PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS THUNDERBIRD IF YOU DONT INTEND TO BUY IT!!!!. ASK WIFE OR WHOEVER FIRST!!! Any questions feel free to call me at 412-629-0458 Thanks and Good Luck!!!

I have been asked about the engine. The intake and vally pan are just sitting on engine. Thats the way I got it. Also the rocker assy is not on the engine but I got a call the other night from person I got it from saying they found the rockers. I hope they are the right ones. . I cannot guarentee it till i have them in possesion. Also if you are going to restore this car you will want to rebuild the engine.

Ford Ranger-based 7-seat SUV spotted testing

Wed, 29 May 2013

Ford looks to be working on a new SUV version of its global Ranger pickup truck. An early prototype of a seven-passenger SUV based on the Ranger has been spotted testing in Australia, and word has it buyers in the region could expect to see the model in showrooms as soon as 2014, where it could sail under the Endeavour or Everest badges. Ford Australia currently sells the Territory SUV, so there's some chance that this model could be a successor to that throne, as well.
Whatever it's called, the long-roof Ranger will feature a shorter wheelbase and more ground clearance than its pickup twin, giving the machine a bit more off-road functionality. (And here we thought we couldn't want the global Ranger any more than we already do.) While this particular vehicle sports a Territory back half grafted onto a Ranger front end, odds are a public reveal of the finished product could occur as soon as the second half of 2014, making it a 2015 model. J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.

Ford Q3 pretax profits drop to $1.18B

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Following positive third quarter financial results recently from General Motors, rival Ford took a tumble in Q3. The automaker posted pre-tax profits of $1.18 billion, compared to about $2.59 billion in Q3 2013, a drop of around 54 percent. Net income also suffered with $835 million made in the quarter, versus $1.272 billion last year, a decline of about 34 percent. The Blue Oval blamed the gloomy figures on three reasons in its release: "lower volume, higher warranty costs and adverse balance sheet exchange effects."
There were problems of one kind or another in practically every region. North America experienced higher warranty costs than expected, partially due to recalls. The sales volume for the quarter was 665,000 units, versus 725,000 in Q3 2013, and pre-tax results amounted to $1.41 billion versus $2.296 billion last year.
South America and Europe both posted worse pre-tax results than last year. On the bright side, European volume was up slightly to 321,000 vehicles, from 303,000 in Q3 2013. The Middle East and Africa also lost $15 million, but that was an improvement compared to the $25 million loss previously experienced in this region.
