You are looking at a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. I bought the car out of Texas in 1983, had the interior redone, put 600 miles on it, we bought a house in the country, drove it to the garage, been sitting there since 1984. Pulled it out two months ago and put new tires, new battery, reworked the carburator, transmission filter, and fuel filter. The brakes were froze up so I had the cylinders rebuilt and new brakes. Cranks on the first turn even in this cool weather weve been having. The body is solid as a rock. Never kept outside. No rust, no bondo. Frame only has surface rust on it. Straight and solid. The car has an undercoating on it that is starting to flake off as shown in the pictures. When you chip off some of the undercoating it shows that the car is not rusted out at all. The paint is starting to come off in large sections. I had an experienced automotive painter come out and he said whoever painted the car mixed the paint too rich with hardener. The black that you see under the paint is the primmer which is still intact to the metal body. The spoke rims are in bad shape. Either needs rechroming or replacing. Windows are all clear as a bell with no cracks. In my opinion, all this car needs is paint and wheels, then you would have one heck of a car. The seats have no rips or tears and are very soft. Chrome is in good shape, just needs some cleaning. I assure you that this car is in great shape. This is not a rust bucket. EASY fixer up. I can email you more pictures if you like. I'll take a pic of the engine and add it tomorrow. Feel free to call or email me about the car. 205-799-7663. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars
Thu, 10 Jul 2014It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."
2013 Ford Mustang V6
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Secretary Trim, Evolved
There was a time not so long ago when opting for a base Ford Mustang meant getting little more than some sheetmetal, an anemic four-cylinder engine and what may very well have been the world's most disappointing automatic transmission. During the Fox Body years, Ford seemed hell-bent on living up to Carroll Shelby's derogatory description of the coupe as little more than a runabout for demure office assistants, and the result was a base model with fewer sporting intentions than a Dilbert day calendar.
Some 20 years later, hopping behind the wheel of an entry-level pony is an entirely different experience. With all of the menacing aesthetics of the brawnier GT, a well-equipped interior and a drivetrain that toes the line between efficiency and power better than few before it, the 2013 Ford Mustang V6 is an attractive option for buyers in the big coupe market. But is it attractive enough to forgo the beastly GT?
Ford adds 850 jobs to build 2015 F-150
Tue, 14 Oct 2014Pickup trucks tend not to advance at quite the same pace as the rest of the industry. That's what makes the new Ford F-150 so remarkable, jettisoning its old steel construction in favor of aluminum. It's a game changer that Ford is betting big on, and in anticipation of surging demand, the Blue Oval automaker is adding 850 new jobs to put the thing together.
Those 850 new employees will be centered at Ford's Rouge complex in Michigan - with 300 at Dearborn Stamping, 50 more at Dearborn Diversified and 500 at the Dearborn Truck facility, the latter of which has already kicked off what Ford describes as "the largest manufacturing transformation in decades." Old manufacturing equipment is being replaced with the latest technologies, and even the Ford Rouge Factory Tour is undergoing a complete overhaul.
The new jobs come as part of the commitments Ford made to the UAW in 2011 to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015 - a number which Ford has already exceeded at 14,000. Over 4,000 of those are centered in southeastern Michigan.
