1998 FORD RANGER EV. FACTORY ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLE. I purchased this vehicle in July 2011. The truck had its original 39 8volt batteries and did not run. In January 2012 I replaced the batteries with 26 group 31, 100 amp hour batteries using the spoof method found on www.fordrangerev.com. the batteries were larger so I placed 9 in the bed using a custom bracket. The factory charger was not working so I replaced it with a Elcon ev charger that works on 110 or 220 using a adapter. After getting the truck working properly I set out to make it unique. I purchased a 2003 ranger edge and transferred the bed, bumpers, grill, hood and mirrors. Then I had it wrapped with lightning graphics. I also added a bed cover, f150 side steps, custom wheels and tires and a light bar. I took the truck to 1 ev car show in Orlando in 2012. It was the talk of the show as most have never seen or heard of a factory electric ranger. Not even the guys from ford showing their Focus. Since then I have driven it about 2500 miles. They way I have it set up I reset the computer with the NGS and the gauge reads 39 miles to empty. roughly half charge. I then drive it 35-40 miles then just plug it in a regular 110 outlet and let it charge overnight and reset again. This keeps the batteries from being run down more than half way. The truck runs and drives great and a/c is cold. It does not have any warning lights or codes. intermittently it will buck when braking and the brake light will come for a few miles after a full charge. I believe this is caused by higher than normal voltage from the larger batteries not allowing the motor to regenerate. After using up some of the battery it is smooth. I also have a factory battery pack jack from the dealer along with several charging stations and a additional factory battery charger if you want to put it back to factory charging. All these parts are used and I have no way to test them to see if they work. Everything I have for this truck is included in the sale. I have had fun with this truck but it is time to let someone else have fun with it. I am now looking for another project. The exterior is in great shape although the wrap job is not perfect. The interior is mint. You wont be disappointed. I have over 20k invested. I am also interested in trade for car, truck, boat, plane, guns ????. anything of value. Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat

Sat, Apr 18 2015

Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.

Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn

Sun, 30 Mar 2014

Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver.
