1948 Ford F1 Ranch Pickup Truck Short Bed Original Unrestored West Coast Patina on 2040-cars
Round Mountain, California, United States
1948 Ford F1 1/2 ton short bed 2WD pickup truck with original 95 HP 226 straight 6 and bullet proof 4 speed on the floor transmission. This Nevada ranch truck has been well maintained through the years and is rust free in the cab and floor boards. It has the original factory assembly line date on the fire wall. All of the gauges in the instrument panel function properly. The engine was rebuilt about 25,000 miles ago and does not smoke, use oil or run hot. The carb was recently rebuilt and the truck starts right up each time and runs strong. The drive train has been well maintained using Amsoil in the rear end, trans and engine. This truck is not a fake barn find, it's a maintained original truck. There is no rust in the cab or floors. There are some rust spots near the grille as seen in the photos. The wonderful patina on the hood is superficial rust only, no flaking or thin spots. All the glass is good no cracks. The headlight wiring harness needs to be replaced and many of the original wires are brittle. The tires are fine but getting dry and should be replaced if running on the highway. The truck was painted Hugger orange in the 1970s. Would make a great rat rod shop truck or continue on as a family ranch truck. I have the clear Nevada title in hand.
I did two walk around videos of the exterior and interior. Click or paste the following links to your browser and walk with me. I'm happy to answer questions and may end the auction if it sells locally. Whoever gets our little ranch truck will be happy. It's not perfect but shows its age well and has withstood the test of time. |

This Or That: Fiat 500 Abarth vs. Ford Fiesta ST [w/poll]
Thu, 21 Aug 2014
They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.
Entry-level F-150 now offers SuperCrew, Sport Package
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Ford has made a few notable tweaks to the lower end of its F-150 lineup, giving customers a more affordable version of the four-door SuperCrew body style. The popular SuperCrew could previously only be had on XLT models and above, but Ford has announced that 2014 F-150s with the base STX trim can get the more versatile body.
The STX SuperCrew brings the price of a four-door F-150 down from $34,525 to $33,145. Like the XLT SuperCrew, the STX will be available with the choice of a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed, while a 5.0-liter V8 can replace the base 3.7-liter V6 for $4,425. Ford has not released pricing on the different bed lengths yet, but opting for the 6.5-foot bed on the XLT raises the price $1,240 and forces buyers into the 5.0-liter V8. We'd expect a similar arrangement on the STX.
The other big news for fans of affordable pickups is the addition of an STX Sport Package on the base-level truck. It adds 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, black-and-gray cloth seats and decals on the truck's box. The Sport Package is available on all three of the STX's body styles, with Ford listing the price as $980 with current discounts.
Ford recalling 65k Fusions from 2014 and 2015 because key can be removed
Tue, 18 Nov 2014Ford is recalling an estimated 64,869 examples of the 2014-2015 Fusion, Fusion Energi and Fusion Hybrid in North America because the key can be removed when the vehicle isn't in Park under certain conditions. Specifically, the campaign covers 56,479 units in the US, 6,048 in Canada and 2,342 in Mexico, according to the automaker's tally on November 11.
Ford says a programming problem in the instrument cluster means that the key can be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in Park. The situation where this could happen seems quite limited, and the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue. However, the fault puts the vehicle out of compliance with federal regulations covering theft protection and rollaways, and must be repaired.
The fix is easy: Ford will reprogram the instrument cluster at no cost to consumers. According to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker in an email to Autoblog, "We will notify customers the week of January 5th." Scroll down to read Ford's announcement.
