1948 Ford F1 Custom Show/ Shop Truck 1966 on 2040-cars
Troy, Michigan, United States

I am listing my 1948 Ford F1 truck, I purchased the truck from the estate of the original owner, Mr Harold Parker owned a garage on the east side of Detroit, he collected early on classic cars and restored them as well, he customized this truck in 1965 as his show truck. The truck was entered in the 1966 Detroit Autorama show, the truck can be seen on the following link, pictures number 45, 56 &58 http://www.joestevensphotos.com/1960sAutoShows/1966-Detroit-Autorama-Photos/i-JtkVPvm Mr Parker collected and restored custom cars until his death in 2010, the truck was stored in the still standing garage until the estate was settled. He bought the truck and used it as a tow vehicle and push truck for midget racing and drag racing until he decided to take it out of service to customize it to what it still looks like today. The truck is as he built it in the early 60's, it has all the late 50's and early 60's aftermarket hot rod parts and patina. The truck has a lot of racing history, it was used as a push truck at the Detroit Dragway national events in the early 60's. The truck has a 1957 Buick nail head V8, Cadillac bat wing air cleaner, the transmission is stock Ford 4 speed manual. The interior is all tucked and rolled and was done in 65 and in great shape, still looks new. Many extras such as lights, horns, side exhaust, extinguisher....paint is from 1965 and shows some flaws but no rust on truck, there is some paint missing on hood but I just waxed the exposed metal since I did not want to alter the original look of the truck ( I was told by a painter it would be hard to blend new paint into the original lacquer to redo the hood), undercarriage all painted and lots of chrome such as Dana Chromed rear end, chromed brake hubs..... Under the hood you cans till find the light bar used at the Autorama show to light up the engine As far as mechanical, truck starts right up and is very strong running, person handling sale of truck for estate redid the brakes, but they pull to one side and should be adjusted. I put new tires as original ones were so dry rotted, they were not safe anymore, hub caps are included also and a spare rear gate that holds a spare tire will be given with the truck. I fell in love with the truck, but unfortunately do have to sell it and will miss this piece of local automotive history, many people that have seen the truck remember it from the "glory days" of racing in Detroit in the 60's. I found in the glove box a stack of original business cards and a write up book form Parker's garage. Please come and check it out, I am on vacation for the next week so will be available at all times. I did keep a color copy of the original title to go with the file. The truck is sold without a warranty, It is the buyer's responsibility to arrange shipping, but I will make myself available to facilitate the process, do not ask me for shipping quotes, I am a private seller, not a dealer, quotes can be checked on line or thru e-bay. Contact me thru e-bay and I will e-mail my phone number if you'd like to talk about the truck or arrange a test drive. I can store the truck for a reasonable amount of time that can be determined by the buyer and seller, but will need full payment within 7 days and a deposit at time of sale. Please do not bid a higher amount that you want to pay and then expect to low ball me after the sale. I will supply you with the clear Michigan title, a bill of sale, a copy of the original title and the few spares. Thank you for looking at my truck Cheers Francois |

As US exports top 2 million, is America becoming the world's source of cheap cars?
Mon, Feb 9 2015North American auto production is booming with 2014 figures just shy of the of the 17.3-million vehicle record set in 2000. With more models being built on the continent, even more are being shipped overseas. Factories in the US exported 2.1 million cars last year – the highest number ever. About half of those went to Canada and Mexico, but more than ever have been heading to places like the Middle East and China. The upswing comes in part from from after-effects from the Great Recession, according to The Wall Street Journal. With a weak dollar and lower production costs after the financial crisis, building vehicles in the US was relatively cheaper and more competitive in the world. At the same time buyers around the world are going crazy for crossovers. According to the WSJ, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are already exporting the majority of their US production of these models overseas. Both automakers have also announced investments to expand production further here to send more vehicles abroad. Even Honda has been shipping more models out of the country than it imported here. There is a concern this international strength could start slowing because the dollar is strengthening against other currencies, though it's too early to know what the actual effect of this could be, according to the WSJ. "Of course, we closely watch currency exchange, but we don't make changes in production or allocation based on temporary fluctuations in the exchange rate," Ford North American boss Joe Hinrichs told the newspaper. 2015 Ford Mustang to make world debut on Dec. 5 [w/video]
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Between a bevvy of spy shots, speculative renders and insidery images from the halls of Car and Driver, we've got a pretty decent idea of what the 2015 Ford Mustang might look like. Still, we're excited to see the real deal as soon as possible.
Turns out that Ford has told us just when that first official look might come, too, although it has chosen somewhat of a backdoor fashion for dropping the news.
The video below popped up on the Ford Mustang YouTube channel this morning, promoting a social media effort called #MustangInspires on. The video and hashtag ask fans of the pony car to share pictures of the car - or "photographic stories of inspiration" - on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. But the truly interesting part of the video description is that which mentions taking "the cover off the all-new Mustang" on December 5. Consider our calendars marked.
Ford delays North American production restart from coronavirus lockdown
Tue, Mar 31 2020Ford said on Tuesday it was postponing its plan to restart production at its North American plants due to safety concerns for its workers amid the coronavirus pandemic. To generate cash, the No. 2 U.S. automaker had said last week it was poised to restart production at some plants in North America as early as April 6, bringing back such profitable vehicles as its top-selling F-150 full-sized pickup, the Transit commercial van and SUVs. But on Tuesday, Ford said it had been aiming to resume production at several key U.S. plants on April 14, but would now instead do so at dates it would announce later on. "The health and safety of our workforce, dealers, customers, partners and communities remains our highest priority," Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford's North American operations, said in a statement. Still, the automaker will open a plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, during the week of April 20, that will make ventilators to treat patients afflicted by the coronavirus. Rival Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said last week it plans to resume production in North America on April 13. General Motors has shuttered its plants indefinitely and has not provided a date for vehicle production to restart. It is facing a delay in the production launch of its redesigned large SUVs and is delaying work on other SUVs. "Once it is safe to resume production, we will do so," a GM spokesman said. As of Monday, Volkswagen was shooting for an April 5 reopening at its Tennessee plant. Honda, Nissan and Subaru facilities in North America will remain closed through April 6, and Hyundai through April 10. Toyota was planning to reopen its North American plants April 17.
