1993 Ford Mustang LX SSP FHP Trooper Car

1993 Ford Mustang LX SSP former Florida Highway Patrol Unit 1075. Last year for the fox body mustang and last year for most police agencies use of the Mustang as a chase car. This particular car is well documented and in near perfect condition. I encourage you to run a search on it by vin and by its former unit designation FHP 1075 to do some research on this car. Since its retirement from service it has been restored just about completely. I am going to try and list many of the items that have been replaced or restored but the list is extensive so please call me with any questions. For anyone that is not familiar with these cars they were used in many states by various police agencies as special service vehicles, some marked, some unmarked but mainly on the highways as chase/ radar cars. Ford outfitted these cars with several special modifications that increased their durability while being used for these special tasks. There are numerous websites / forums that explain history and use of these vehicles. Some of the special features are:

  • Engine, 5.0 L HO V8 with Sequential Multi-Port Injection

  • Forged pistons, roller cam
  • Engine oil cooler
  • Aircraft-type silicone radiator hoses and clamps
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Brakes, power disc front/drum rear with rotor shields
  • Stainless steel factory headers
  • Dual exhaust system w/stainless tips
  • Fuel tank capacity — 15.4 U.S. gallons (58 L)
  • Heavy duty stabilizer bars, front and rear
  • Full instrumentation with in-dash tachometer
  • 130 and 135  amp internally and externally regulated heavy duty alternators
  • 2 Piece VASCAR speedometer cable
  • Certified calibrated speedometer 0-160 mph
  • Relocated rear deck release
  • Single key locking doors/trunk
  • Reinforced floor pans
  • Full size spare tire
  • 15" X 7" cast aluminum 10-Hole - wheels

The car has 104k miles on it most of which were put on by the florida highway patrol. Since its retirement over ten years ago the entire car has been been redone with the exception of the motor and transmission. The entire interior of the car, seats, dash, carpet, headliner, trim, window seals, door seals all repaired or replaced. Everything works as it should. The car was repainted black, it has good shine and the body panels are straight. Doors, hood, trunk all close as they should and line up well. The car has had no major damage to it over the years which in itself is amazing as it was a marked police vehicle for much of its life. It was involved in a minor accident in 1997 but I am unable to tell where the damage may have been. I only know about it because of car fax and a call to the Florida Highway Patrol to verify. All of the glass on the car is perfect, no chips or cracks anywhere. Headlights, tail lights and marker lights have all been replaced with FORD NOS parts and are clear and free of blemishes. The original 10 hole rims are on the car as they were when it was ordered and they wear the correct goodyear rubber that is in great shape. The motor runs strong and is in fantastic shape for a twenty year old police car. I installed a new intake gasket this past summer and while I had it apart replaced the water pump with a new Ford unit, thermostat, breather valve , power steering pump with a new Ford unit, and serpentine belt. The transmission is in great shape as well, shifts well and the clutch was replaced a few years back. The rear end on the car was rebuilt with a new posi unit several years ago and has 3.27 gears in it. All of the suspension was replaced last year, springs, struts and quad shocks in the rear are all new. New rear wheel cylinders also installed. New factory headers were put in and it has flowmaster super 44 mufflers put on last year. It sounds awesome, not too loud when cruising but just enough when you get on it a little. The only aftermarket parts on the car are a short throw shifter and adjustable strut mounts. I have the original factory pieces that will go with the car. Other than that is completely stock and just about perfect. Everything on the car works, AC / Heat, Wipers, Lights, Radio, Gauges, Mirrors, Window cranks, Horn, Trunk release etc. I use it as weekend driver, it's not a show car but I wouldn't be embarrassed to show up at any cruise night with this one. These cars are getting pretty rare as many were used as race cars after they were retired. To find one in this condition is also rare. You can drive this car anywhere with complete confidence. I would encourage you to have your expert look at it and make their own judgement but this one is a gem and needs nothing. If you have been looking for one of these special cars you know whats often for sale and a lot of it is junk. This one is turnkey summer fun and a great collector item as well. Wish I didn't have to sell it but it's gotta go.

Please call with any questions you have. I'm sure I've missed something here as there is a ton to list. I have a huge stack of receipts and documentation. 716-523-9422.

If you can't pay for it don't bid. I don't want anyones junk as a trade and won't accept your third party out of state check or something from a third world country. No you can't pay me twice what the cars worth as long as I front you some cash. Shipping is your responsibility but I will help however I can. The car is legit and so am I so don't hesitate to call with questions.
This article was written last year about this particular car.

Alan Mulally talks about why Ford's Falcon had to die

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

When Ford made the decision to end production of the Falcon sedan and Territory CUV in Australia, it wasn't a popular move Down Under. The large, four-door Falcon had been in production for 50 years, and while Ford has reaffirmed its commitment to the Australian market, it's understandable that some people still aren't all that crazy about the Blue Oval's decision.
Speaking to CEO Alan Mulally after Ford's Go Further event in Sydney, Australian site Go Auto reports that the decision was not one made lightly, and that the automaker is doing everything possible to respect the Falcon and Territory's "stakeholders." It's an interesting piece that shows a softer side of a corporation, while demonstrating that Ford is doing everything in its power to make the end of production as smooth as possible for all parties.
Head over to Go Auto for the full series of remarks from Mulally, and then let us know what you think of Ford's handling of the Falcon and Territory discontinuations, in Comments.

Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.

Ken Block is at it again in Gymkhana 6

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

If there's one thing we'll say about Ken Block and his latest installment in the Gymkhana family, it's that it's far more structured than previous videos, but that doesn't mean it skimps on the entertainment. Block is on a purpose-built course which was touted as "The... Ultimate... Gymkhana... Grid... Course" in last week's preview. Unlike Gymkhana 5, which took placed on closed streets in San Francisco, this course seems much more compact.
Block has an entire array of challenges to tackle in his 650-horsepower Ford Fiesta ST, and none of them look particularly easy. In fact, we'd argue that Gymkhana 6's grid course requires much more precise driving that previous titles. There are Segways, Lamborghinis and massive pieces of construction equipment that all must be dealt with.
We've got the entire 6:28 of Gymkhana madness for you down below. Scroll down for the video and then hit Comments and let us know how this installment compares to previous Block works.
