For sale is my nice 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback.  As you can see from the photos it has a Boss 429 appearance to it that always draws lots of positive comments.

Body: The body is 100% original Ford metal.  There has been no rust repair.  The lower front valance was replaced with a NOS piece by the previous owner, other than that, it looks to be all factory metal.  There is no rust in the doors, floors, quarters, or any of those typical rust areas on these cars.  Since this is an unmolested body, the car drives very solid.  Door gaps are all nice, just a solid car.

Suspension: I have replaced the front springs and shocks with factory replacement units from Eaton Detroit Springs specific for a 1970 Mach 1 with a 351C.  I feel this car has a balanced ride, not too soft, yet not too hard and aggressive.

Steering: The steering linkage is tight, the car does not wander going down the road or the interstate.

Wheels and Tires: Brand new 15x8 Magnum 500s and BFGoodrich Tires, same size all the way around for a nice aggressive stance.

Engine: 351C 4V with an Offenhauser aluminum intake and Hooker headers.  This is the best starting muscle car I have ever owned.  Turn the key and it fires, very dependable.  The engine runs strong but I would classify it as a mild street performance build by the previous owner.  Good oil pressure.  I have always used 100% synthetic Valvoline oil and Wix filters from CarQuest with good results.  It does not run hot but there is an auxiliary electric fan that you can turn on and off from inside the car should you feel it necessary.  I have not needed to use it.  There is a new one wire PowerMaster alternator on the car.  It puts out over 110 amps so it can easily power anything you want to add to the car within reason.  Flowmaster mufflers are under the car but they are not loud and obnoxious.

Transmission: T5 Ford 5 speed with cable clutch linkage.  New flywheel, clutch disc, and throw out bearing.  First gear is perfect for getting around a parking lot or show field without having to finesse the clutch.  Of course, 5th gear is perfect out on the interstate to keep the revs down and your gas mileage up.  This car was built to be a driver, and a good one at that.  Very pleasurable to drive.  I would recommend replacing the rear tail shaft seal as it does leak.

Interior: The seats were recovered by the previous owner and I have to admit that they are very, very nice.  Super comfortable to sit in.  The dash pad is in good shape.  I installed the restored rim blow steering wheel (expensive) and I think it is of show quality.  It does have the deluxe interior woodgrain gauge cluster with the clock delete passenger side panel.  This creates a nice appearance in my opinion.  The Philco AM radio is in the car and it has a new speaker under the dash.  The radio worked last summer but it did not want to play this summer.  It has received new carpet and underlayment.

Extra Parts: There are some extra parts that I have accumulated over the years that will go with this car.  Most notable is a lower metal A/C dash unit.  I kept it in case I ever wanted to add A/C but yet keep the factory look for the interior.  There is a car cover that will go with the car.

I'm not trying to brag, but I have been very fortunate in that in the past I have been able to own a '69 Mach 1, 2 428CJ 1970 Mach 1s, and 3 Boss 302s.  I am 100% honest when I say I have had more enjoyment driving this Fastback that I did out of any of the previous high dollar cars.  I think you can tell from my description that this car is a nice driver that you can take to any show or cruise in, but it is not going to take the trophy away from any concourse restoration.  Unfortunately a move out of state forces the sale.

The car is available for inspection with an appointment.  $500 deposit thru PayPal due within 3 days of close of the auction.  Balance due as cash at time of pick up or wire transfer before car is picked up.  Feel free to email me with any questions.  If you would like to speak on the phone, please give me your phone number and I will give you a call.  Thank you.

Ford making Fusion production moves to challenge Camry on volume

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The Ford Fusion may already beat the Toyota Camry in terms of models offered, transaction price and sales increase so far this year, but if the Fusion wants to make a run at the title of best-selling car in the US, Bloomberg reminds us that volume is key. Opening a second production line at the Flat Rock, MI assembly plant will reportedly allow Ford to produce around 350,000 Fusions annually, which compares Toyota's ability to crank out 475,000 Camrys and Honda's capacity to build around 450,000 Accords.
For the Fusion, that's an extra 100,000 units compared to the car's current pace, and the article adds that the Fusion is "Ford's best shot" to regain the passenger car sales crown - a title it (or any other US automaker, for that matter) hasn't held since the mid-1990s. Despite hiccups with recalls and fuel economy numbers, the Ford Fusion is still red hot when it comes to sales. Fusion sales are up 13 percent so far this year (compared to a 0.6 percent decrease for Camry), and its average transaction price of $26,343 is about $2,300 more than its rival from Toyota.
The Fusion's popularity has helped Ford improve its sales in California; the Dearborn-based automaker has a market share of 18 percent in the state, which is just a fraction of a percentage behind Honda. And this popularity should continue as Ford ups Fusion production and expands the model lineup even further for 2014 with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine soon to become an option.

Ford dominates most-stolen SUV list

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

The Ford Escape leads the NICB's list with 1,421 examples stolen.
If you drive a recent Ford SUV or crossover, you may want to keep a watchful eye out for thieves - especially if you live in the New York metro area or in Detroit. A new study from the National Insurance Crime Bureau has named three Ford models as the most likely vehicles in their genre to be stolen, with CUVs in general being especially attractive to bandits.

Ford overlooks the Big Apple in the 2015 Mustang Convertible [w/video]

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Ford has done it again. Like in April of 1964, there is once again an all-new Mustang Convertible sitting on the observation deck of New York City's Empire State Building. This has been in the making for a little while, with the first report that Ford would recreate the sky-high publicity stunt coming out a few weeks back.
The process of getting the Mustang up there wasn't exactly easy. A Troy, MI-based company chopped up the new droptop, a necessary evil to get the Mustang on the Empire State Building's only freight elevator that runs to the 86th floor observation deck. But it was slightly more involved than just taking the car apart. The company, DST, built a mockup of the ESB's freight elevators, and then practiced its cuts on a second pre-production Mustang Convertible (measure twice, cut once).
The result of all this work are the images you see above. Yes, sitting in the crisp, morning air of midtown Manhattan, over 1,000 feet up, is this brilliant, Triple Yellow Mustang. Take a look up top for our gallery of images from today's event. You can also scroll down for videos and images of the process leading up to the ESB debut.
