1967 Ford Mustang Gta on 2040-cars
Clarksville, Tennessee, United States

Here is a golden opportunity to own a true, exceptionally rare, original 1967 Ford Mustang GTA convertible. This car is verified by a Marti report which is in the pictures section. The original Virginia 67 license plates are included and this is a numbers matching vehicle. This in our opinion is the best color combination that this car could come in, stunning Dark Moss Green over a black interior really makes this car stand out. Its a very recent repaint and new interior, less than a year old. We have actually done a few more things since, we just replaced all the dash component panels and instrument bezel cluster along with the carpet as it had bunched in a few areas and didn't look right so we just replaced it completely. All the dash gauges, horn, blinkers, lights are all in perfect working order. The engine compartment is detailed to show quality. The car tracks and drives flawlessly without any clunks, noises, squeaks, ect... The vehicle is garage kept and in tip top mechanical and cosmetic condition. The engine and transmission have had a fresh rebuild less than 10,000 miles. This is a factory 'A' code 4bbl car and has the rare dealer installed cobra intake on it and a new Holley 4bbl sits on top. The car has a rust free body and frame, I took the best pictures I could without a lift. The pans have been replaced on the car and were flawlessly installed. The cars brightwork is nice all the way around, this is a non-rocker panel molding car. Convertible top and back window are new, its a factory power top car and works seamlessly. Again the interior has been gone through, door panels, carpet, seats, dash panels, ect...This is a power disc brake car, has manual steering and no A/C. This is not a trailer queen car, this is a car you can go and show and not worry about a thing, I have collected Mustangs over the last 20 years and this is a car that is truly one to be proud of and a joy to drive. I have been involved with the Mustang Club of America for many years and used to be a Gold Card judge many years ago and if I were looking for a rare car for a good price then look no further. These GTA's, true GTA's, don't come up on the market often and when they do they get bought up pretty quick. I am confident that whoever buys this car will truly enjoy this car over the coming years and not have to worry about a thing, this is a rock solid gorgeous car. As with anything this car is 46 years old and does not come with a warranty, shipping would need to be arranged from Clarksville, TN, we can give you a name of a good shipper we have dealt with in the past if you need a recommendation. A non-refundable deposit of $500 will be required at auctions end. We have a modest reserve set and is very realistic, again these cars don't come up often. We will be at the Mustang 50th celebration in Charlotte next week, we are not bringing the car but if the winning bidder is attending we can conduct the business end of the deal there, i.e. titles, bill of sale, payment. Good luck and definately a car you won't be disappointed in. |

Justin Bell makes a horrible policeman
Mon, 11 Nov 2013If you're wondering what type of person makes a good police officer, it seems a racecar driver doesn't. Let us rephrase that: Justin Bell, a racecar driver and the host of Motor Trend's World's Fastest Car Show, recently got behind the wheel of a 5.0-liter Ford Mustang police car with Sergeant Daniel Shrubb, co-founder of DRAGG (Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti), and proved that his high-performance-driving skillset is a bit too aggressive for police duty.
While it's easy to get carried away in a Mustang GT, a patrol car driver must maintain some sort of restraint while pursuing a criminal, so as not to come off as a reckless driver to the public. We'll admit, some pursuit techniques are counter-intuitive to performance driving (stay off the gas in a lane-change exercise?), but Bell's judicious use of the handbrake can't be normal procedure.
Watch "The One With The Ford Mustang 5.0 Police Car" (yes, we caught the Friends reference too) below to see some shenanigans in one of Michigan's finest patrol cars.
Three automotive tech trends to watch in 2018 and beyond
Thu, Dec 28 2017Every year, technology plays a bigger and bigger role in the auto industry. To put things in perspective, 10 years ago iPod integration and Bluetooth were cutting-edge in-car innovations, and smartphones and apps weren't yet a thing since the first iPhone was only about six months old. And I can't recall anyone talking about autonomous cars. Compare that to today, with mainstream coverage of the auto industry dominated by autonomous technology, along with electrification and almost every move made by Tesla. These three topics were the most significant trends of car tech in 2017 and I believe they will continue to shape the auto industry in 2018 and beyond. Let's examine them. Full Autonomy Gets Closer to Reality While there were many developments this year that indicate we're inching closer to fully autonomous vehicles, I was behind the wheel for hours to witness one of them. In October I had the chance to test Cadillac Super Cruise on a 700-mile, 11-hour drive from Dallas to Santa Fe – and had my hands on the wheel for maybe 45 minutes max throughout the entire trip. Super Cruise is far from making the Cadillac CT6 or any GM vehicle fully autonomous, and has limitations such as functioning only on pre-mapped main highways. While it simply adds a layer of lane centering to adaptive cruise control, the technology will go a long way in making mainstream drivers more comfortable with letting machines take over. On a separate front, GM is pushing ahead with fully autonomous vehicles and announced last month that it plans to launch of fleets of self-driving robo-taxis in several urban areas in 2019. While most automakers are also in the race to make autonomous cars a reality, GM's turbocharging of its efforts appeared to be in response to Waymo, which announced just weeks earlier that its Early Rider Program in the Phoenix area would go completely driverless. The Early Rider Program launched last April, offering the public a chance to ride in Waymo's autonomous Chrysler Pacifica minivans. In this new phase of testing, Waymo is using its own employees as guinea pigs instead of the public while the vehicles operate without a human behind the wheel, and takes another giant step forward for fully autonomous driving.
10 of 18 midsize SUVs earn 'good' IIHS side impact safety rating
Wed, May 18 2022It's not terribly surprising that midsize SUVs earned better safety ratings than small SUVs in the latest side-impact tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Just how much better they scored, on the other hand, certainly raises an eyebrow. Ten out of 18 midsize SUVs earned the highest rating of 'good' in the stringent new test, altered for vehicles starting with the 2020 model year with a heavier barrier (4,200 pounds) that moves at a higher speed (37 miles per hour) and is fitted with a hard honeycomb frontal structure. By way of contrast, just one out of of 20 small SUVs earned a 'good' score. SUVs that receiving 'good' scores were the Ford Explorer, Infiniti QX60, Lincoln Aviator, Mazda CX-9, Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, Volkswagen Atlas, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport and Volkswagen ID.4. For EV fans, it's worth noting the ID.4 was the only electric vehicle included in the test. The Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse scraped away with 'acceptable' ratings while the Honda Passport, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Wrangler 4-door, Kia Telluride and Nissan Murano were deemed merely 'marginal' in the tough new test. Only two models — the Mazda CX-9 and Volkswagen ID.4 — earned a "Good" rating in every test category. Interestingly, the Jeep Wrangler would have scored a 'good' rating if it were equipped with side airbags for the rear seating positions. It would likely be an engineering challenge to equip its removable top and/or doors with airbags, but the lack of that safety feature allowed the head of the rear passenger dummy to hit the vertical support of the top. Otherwise, the Wrangler scored good ratings across the board. The new Ford Bronco, which makes more allowances for side-impact safety, has not yet been tested. The popular Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride SUVs stand out in the test with 'poor' ratings for driver pelvis injuries. The Nissan Murano, a vehicle last redesigned for the 2015 model year, was the only vehicle tested that received a 'poor' rating for its structure and safety cage. Videos of the tests of 12 of these 18 SUVs can be found on the IIHS' YouTube page.
