1965 Ford Mustang Restomod

Car has been family owned since 1993 and was rebuilt in 2010. I built this car because it was my mothers. When passed away, I remembered how for years she always said how she wanted it restored, so in her memory I did just that. This car was a great project and has since been a hell of a ride, but my sister and I are moving and sadly it has to go. It is a daily driver and a long distance driver. I state this because during my move from Portland, OR to Taos, NM I drove this car and it did great the entire trip with no issues. It was hardly driven in Portland and for the 2 years that I've lived in Taos, I'd drive it a little bit more, but the town here is so small I never really had to and mostly rode my bike. Recently, I have moved from Taos, NM back to Wichita, KS for a short stint and drove the Mustang. It did fantastic the entire time as expected!

Here's all that was done to it upon rebuild:

- Everything was removed, car was stripped down to bare metal, POR-15 all along the bottom
- Installed new driver and passenger side floorboards
- Placed in a rebuilt 302 V8 which only has 4-6,000 miles on it maybe and still has the Fomoco 2 barrel carb
- New aluminum radiator
- Installed front disc brakes from a '68 Mustang.
- Cleaned up and installed original console and air conditioner
- Placed it new interior inside car and trunk as well as installed a new dash, door panels, carpet, front seat and back seat covers and headliner
- Installed exterior oil & temp gauges underneath air conditioner
- New rubber lining and felts for windows
- New Mustang door plates and front kicker panels
- Installed new brake lines and gave it new American Racing aluminum wheels along with 30,000 mile Ventus HRII tires (only have 4-6,000 miles on them as well and tread is still excellent) (215 50R 16's on front and 225 50R 16's on rear)
- Installed a new gas tank
- Placed new shackles for leaf springs
- Installed green LEDs inside instrument panel and LED intermittent lights for the rear blinkers
- Painted the car with base coat/clear coat C3P0 color
- New hood (not fiberglass)
- Kept the manual steering
- Gaps for doors, hood, and trunk were meticulously placed to make sure all gaps were straight and even (you would've thought we were OCD about it)
- Installed a Custom Sound USA-230 AM/FM player with an MP3 hookup (auxillary wire sits in ashtray for easy hookup to ipod/mp3 module)
- Installed used speakers with new Eclipse speaker covers (speakers sound great and can get loud)
- New Mustang side emblems
- New chrome valve covers
- New Grant wood steering wheel
- New rear and front bumper
- New front splash shield/rock guard
- All original glass still in place except front windshield which is new

Now here's the bad:

- Minor chip in windshield above passenger side wiper (pretty deep and will need to be fixed)
- Some rock chips  on the paint from driving it, but have been covered by C3P0 touch-up paint
- Paint could probably use a good buffing
- Driver side seat cover is starting to show a gap between one of the seams where you place your back
- Center piece of Grant wood steering wheel (Mustang emblem) doesn't stay on all the time and sometimes pops off
- Rear passenger quarter window has to be slightly pulled up when closing window
- One of the bearings in the air conditioner clutch is bad (other than that, the A/C is top notch! just don't have time to fix it due to the move)

Even with these nitches, car is mechanically sound and title is free and clear!!!

After project was finished, car got appraised at $17,500 Here's the document that was placed by Charles Carver of Pride Autoplaza:

This is a nice appearing freshly restored Mustang that can serve the dual purpose of being a show worthy car but also a car that could be practical to use as a daily driver.  Its strong features include its good history and its good planning and workmanship resulting in a very appealing and attractive finished product.  Factors that limit the cars value are its non originality.  Based on this information, I would place this 1965 Ford Mustang 2 Door Coupe is Fair Market Value at $17,500.00.

Car comes with extras along with appraisal paperwork if you want it.

Extras with the car:

- Front bumper guards and clips (never installed bumper guards cause I liked the look without them)
- Chilton manual
- Original valve covers
- Outer passenger side door & an inner door handle
- Bunches of glass fuses for the fuse box
- Blue enamel paint I used for the motor (and yes it still sprays good)

And Last But Certainly Not Least:

There is a reserve price for this item. However if the reserve isn't met at the end of the ad, I will personally e-mail the last/highest bidder if it's close to the reserve and work with you on the price so that we can find a happy median. Now since I am doing this, I will not inform you what the reserve price is so don't bother asking. If you have any other questions though, please don't hesitate to ask. And if you're serious about the ad, please keep checking the description every so often.

Compact SUV Comparison: Specs, pics and reviews of every brand's crossover

Wed, Jul 25 2018

Honda CR-V vs Toyota RAV4. Chevy Equinox vs Ford Escape. Mazda CX-5 vs Subaru Forester. Whichever combinations of compact crossover SUV you're considering, there's probably a comparison test or chart out there to read. Heck, you can even create a three-car comparison yourself here at Autoblog. However, if you want a bunch of that information all in one convenient place, well, here it is. Our mega comparison of specs, features and photos of compact SUV entries from every mainstream manufacturer that sells them. That includes the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, 2018 Ford Escape, 2018 GMC Terrain, 2018 Honda CR-V, 2018 Hyundai Tucson, 2019 Jeep Cherokee (it's already on sale with notable changes from 2018), 2018 Jeep Compass, 2018 Kia Sportage, 2018 Mazda CX-5, 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (none of Mitsu's SUVs are perfect fits for this segment, so we deemed the MEC the most competitive fit), 2018 Nissan Rogue, 2018 Subaru Forester, 2018 Toyota RAV4 and 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. We can update this comparison as more information about 2019 models is released, most notably the Forester and RAV4. Now, there are certainly some models that are smaller (Nissan Rogue Sport) or larger (Kia Sorento) that could also be considered, but we figured it was wise to stick with those in this sweet spot of comparable size and price. We also included links to Autoblog reviews, buying guides and smaller comparisons. Engines and Transmissions With rare exception, this segment features four-cylinder power. Sometimes it's turbocharged, often its not, but standard engine outputs are generally in the same ballpark. Therefore, we'd recommend focusing on torque output, as it's what will make a difference around town or when passing, and weighing that versus fuel economy (the Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 make particularly strong cases in this regard). Many drivers aren't too fond of continuously variable transmissions (CVT), either, so that's another thing to consider and note during a test drive. As you can see, several models are available with performance upgrades. Besides the Jeep Cherokee's available V6, all are more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The exception to this would be the Honda CR-V and Ford Escape, as their 1.5-liter turbo engines don't prioritize performance. Instead, they serve as overall upgrades to the base naturally aspirated engines standard on only their base trim levels (CR-V LX and Escape S).

Ford creates F-150 Sandcat to promote Halo 5: Guardians

Mon, Jun 15 2015

Halo 5: Guardians is about to hit Xbox One, and Ford is celebrating with the reveal of this one-off F-150. Built by the Blue Oval specialists at Galpin Auto Sports, the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat is designed for deployment by the United Nations Space Command. It's based on a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and FX4 off-road package. It's then upgraded with a Baja XTR package from Addictive Desert Designs, complete with FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie floating rear axle, 17-inch wheels, and upgraded fenders, side steps, and chase rack. It's all capped by a custom Halo-themed body wrap, and fitted with an Xbox One hooked up to displays in the back of the headrests. Fans will be able to check it out at the LA Convention Center during the E3 video game show, and dream of driving it on some far-off planet to combat whatever space monsters the Master Chief has been assigned to eradicate. Jun 12, 2015 | LOS ANGELES Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat Lands at E3 to Promote Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One Ford, Xbox, 343 Industries and Galpin Auto Sports are celebrating the release of Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One with a special version of the 2015 Ford F-150 that is so awesome, it could have been designed by the Master Chief himself. The Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat is a one-of-a-kind vehicle inspired by Halo's United Nations Space Command vehicle design. It will be on display at E3 2015. Based on the all-new Ford F-150, the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 ever, F-150 Halo Sandcat is special enough to have been officially designated the M552 codename by the United Nations Space Command – closely matching F-150's official Ford codename, P552. The F-150 Halo Sandcat started as a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine and FX4 off-road package. To turn the truck into the Sandcat, Galpin Auto Sports added an arsenal of modifications to give it a United Nations Space Command militaristic style that Halo fans will instantly recognize. The F-150 Halo Sandcat starts with Addictive Desert Designs' Baja XTR off-road conversion kit, which includes custom FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack and 17-inch wheels with off-road tires to go along with a full custom Halo body wrap. Inside, there's an Xbox One custom gaming system with displays mounted in the rear head restraints.

Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.
