Model T Coupe

Fully Restored

“A Piece of American History”

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

VEHICLE HISTORY:   The current owner purchased this car in 1978 (36 years ago).  He commenced a thorough frame-off restoration replacing everything it needed.  A rebuilt, period correct (1925) Ford L-head engine was installed.  The original engine (included with purchase if desired) was taken out.  A pile of receipts is included documenting the restoration.  It was finished in 1983 and was a show winner.  30+ years later this Model T is showing some age and patina, but is still a handsome car in very nice condition.  Age precludes the owner from enjoying this Model T any longer, so it is ready for a new caretaker to preserve and enjoy this historical icon.

Included in the photos is a short write-up of the restoration prepared by the owner.

MARQUE HISTORY:  The Ford Model T is considered the most important car ever built.  It put America “on wheels” and changed the way people lived, providing inexpensive transportation for the Nation.  From 1909 to 1927 the Ford Motor company built more than 15 million Model T cars.  The Model T continued into production until the Model A was introduced for 1928.  This car sold for $530 in 1922!

INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE:  Nice Custom-Fit Cotton Car Cover, 3 Boxes Leftover Restoration Parts, New Ahooga Horn, Original Engine, “Henry’s Wonderful Model T” Book, Car Cover, Restoration Receipts.

SPECIFICATIONS:  Ford L-Head 4-Cylinder Engine, 177CI, 20HP, Cast Iron Block, 3.75” Bore X 4.00” Stroke, Three Main Bearings, Solid Valve Lifters, One-Barrel Carburetor, 1760 Pound Curb Weight, 100” Wheelbase, 30X3 1/2 Balloon Tires W/Demountable Rims, Planetary Transmission, 2 Forward  & 1 Reverse Gears, 3 Pedal Controls & Floor Lever, Torque Tube Drive, Contracting Transmission Band Brakes, Electric Starter.

VEHICLE CONDITION:

We do a mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale.  This report is included below will provide a reasonable description of the vehicle condition.  Older vehicles are subject to normal wear and tear and we have tried to indicate the overall condition of the vehicle to the best of our ability.  But, we can not always find everything that is not perfect with a vehicle, so independent inspections are welcome and encouraged.  We drive each vehicle approximately 20 miles, but this is no indication of its long term road-worthiness.  The only guarantee with an older vehicle is that someplace, sometime, something will need repaired!

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.

Ford calling in 28k Edge crossovers over fuel line leak

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

A problem with the fuel line on certain examples of the Ford Edge has prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall. The issue revolves around the metal housing on the fuel line pulse damper, which was apparently improperly manufactured in the first place and is prone to crack in certain circumstances, leading to a fuel leak. And as we all know, a fuel leak is not a good thing.
The problem affects model year 2012 and 2013 Edge crossovers equipped with the 2.0-liter engine and manufactured between September 2, 2010 and April 25, 2013 - a total of 27,933 units. Although the Lincoln MKX is closely related to the Edge, since it isn't offered with the same engine (to which the problem is related), the recall does not include the premium-badged version. See the recall notice below for further details.
