Here is a very nice 30 A Coupe mounted on a made-to-fit 32 chassis. This car started as a clean, rust-free NC body which was then chopped 4" with the roof being filled in the process. It has a very nicely constructed full steel floor from firewall to tail lights with a louvered pan in the rear. The chassis is a unit built for this purpose by one of the best and well known race car builders in the NE. The rails are pinched to fit the 30 body and also bobbed in the rear. Crossmembers are well built using square tubing and the whole unit is a work of art in itself. The rear is a new Winters quick-change using 3:22 helicals that is not locked, uses normal Ford type brakes and has radius rods, panhard bar and coil-overs. There is a lot of polished aluminum, chrome and stainless along with well done AN hoses on fuel and transmission lines. All the info on the engine is from the builder who tells me that it is a LT1 350 using pink rods, forged pistons, roller rockers, .538 lift cam with World Products heads, MSD ignition, Edelbrock air gap and carb and headers. I cannot document any of the engine internals but it certainly runs well. Exhaust is full polished stainless from front to rear and is another work of art in itself. Interior is nicely done with a full compliment of gauges, tilt wheel and a heater. Wheels are Halibrand copies and are very nice. This little car starts, runs, drives and stops very well and would make an excellent low cost starter hot rod which could be taken to the next level if desired. It is and always has been a driver as indicated by the current graveyard of bugs on the radiator, these are thrown in at no extra cost to the new owner. All the aluminum on the car could use polishing but then you would need sun glasses. Also included is a three piece hood that fits rather well and is held in place by Zeus fasteners when desired. All three parts can be used or just the top if desired. Most questions about what is included can be answered by carefully looking at the photos. In the interest of honesty and full disclosure there are a few things that should be addressed although the car is fine to use as-is. As I sadly learned recently, a lie of omission is still a lie. First it has no e-brake whatsoever although the holes are present in the backing plates to add cables. One front tire is worn on the outside from being used on another car with questionable alignment. The steering wheel is very nice 17" Schroeder but with the car being so small and the steering so easy a 15" would make entry and exit somewhat easier. Another item I would change is the very tall Lokar shift handle which almost reaches the ceiling, awkward to reach the lockout at best. Lastly, the Sun tach does not function but may be looked at in the future if time allows.  I am sure there may be some other questionable areas as on any used car but I have not found them. If I do they will be posted. Title is a clear and open NYS title/registration.

Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.

Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.
