1929 Ford Model A Coupester/roadster on 2040-cars
Burbank, California, United States
For sale is my 1929 Ford Coupester (titled in TN as a roadster). It started out as a coupester conversion sometime in the 60s and I carried it much further over the past several years. I shortened the length of the body/doors by 4.5" to improve on the body proportions, and the doors have been narrowed to roadster thickness. The panel above the trunk was also replaced with a roadster one to unify the look. Here's the more specs:
-Chevy 305 with Edelbrock Performer package (cam, intake, etc), NEW Edelbrock 1406 carb, NEW HEI distributor, water pump, etc
-Aluminum Powerglide transmission, floor shift
-Model T gas tank and battery box in the trunk
-Juice brakes all around
-8" Ford rear, new drums, shoes, internals
-Original Henry Ford axle dropped by Okie Joe
-32 Chevy Hood for longer hood length
-35 Ford wire wheels
-55 Buick steering wheel
-Cowl modified to accommodate real roadster stanchions and windshield
-Patina paintjob to give it the Post-War gow job look
-Cowl steering via BMW 2002 steering box
-E-brake via classic Porche e-brake handle
-The numbers on the side wash off!
-Extra electrical fan with switch on dash for those hot CA days in traffic
-Headlights converted to halogens!
-Partially boxed frame
-Gas shocks front and back to smooth the ride on our *wonderful* CA roads!
-Glass packed mufflers and custom exhaust
-Custom rag top frame in progress (if you want it) and extra patch panels. Any area where it was patched in the 60s that you may not like, I had sand blasted and primed, but kept it for the "gow job" look. The patch panels I have are for all those areas if you want to change it!
OPEN TO PARTIAL TRADES: Interested in 1964-69 Pontiac Tempest/Lemans and 1965-69 Ford Torino/Fairlanes
I'd love to hear from you if you're truly interested, and we can talk further....*HOWEVER*, this is what I'm NOT interested in:
-Anyone trying to "sell" it for me
-Trades for random things like late model clunkers, travel trailers, bike parts, crud you don't want in the first place
-Folks contacting me to tell me what it's *not* worth
-Scammers....I've dealt with it before, so I can smell it coming.
-I won't do spec work on it for you per your request before buying.
What I *DO* expect:
-Honest dealings by honest people. If this car isn't your cup of tea, there are plenty more out there, it is what it is.
-I'm not selling this due to any financial hardship or personal need. I'm actually selling it to benefit my church and their new building, so if you want to negotiate price and perhaps a tax deductible donation to my church, that's a possibility.

Lincoln Nautilus, Ford Edge latest prediction: Production ends in July 2024
Thu, Aug 20 2020In June, Auto Forecast Solutions put out a report compiled by its vice president of global forecasting, Sam Fiorani. One item in the report covered how Fiorani had heard from "multiple sources" that Ford shut down the program to replace the Edge crossover in 2023. Assuming this came to pass, with the Lincoln Nautilus based on the Edge, the inference is that the Nautilus would retire at or around the same time. Ford's response to media queries about the report was either "No comment" or PR-speak deflection. Lincoln's statement on the matter to Motor1, a crafty non-answer, was, "The Nautilus plays and will continue to play an important role in Lincoln’s growing SUV portfolio which includes the Corsair, Aviator and Navigator. Lincoln is investing in growth segments like SUVs and we have no plans to exit the segment." It's possible Lincoln has no plans to leave the segment, but the Nautilus might, according to a fresh, unsourced report in Ford Authority. The site claims the Nautilus will end production at the Oakville Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, in July 2024. Again, we can't know how much, if any of this, is true. But we're zeroing in on a timeline for the potential end of the Edge and Nautilus in the U.S. Those are the only two products Oakville currently builds, and when the Canadian union Unifor asked Ford about the reports in June, Ford couldn't offer union reps anything concrete or reassuring. The Detroit News quoted Unifor chief Jerry Dias as saying of the automaker, "There is no question, they are going through a major evaluation of their portfolio, based on a whole host of things."  We could be seeing one of the earlier theories for Edge's potential demise coming true. Some analysts suspect Ford could be pruning its crossover lineup because it has too many similarly-sized offerings at the moment, the Edge hasn't met its sales targets in Europe, and more compact crossovers are on the way that could bring better street cred if they're associated with the Bronco or Bronco Sport. Unifor and Ford are now in negotiations over a new contract, so it's possible we'll get more clarity in the next month or so about Ford's plans and what will come of Oakville and its roughly 4,000 workers. If Ford walks away from the assembly plant, it will only have two engine plants left in Canada, and no vehicle assembly north of the border for the first time in about a century.
Ford board OK with Mulally stepping down earlier
Fri, 06 Sep 2013Ford's board is open to CEO Alan Mulally stepping down before his planned departure in 2014, inside sources are telling Reuters. Ford's plan of succession, aside from who would be his actual successor, has been something approaching common knowledge - the 68-year-old former Boeing exec had plans to stay through 2014. This was recently confirmed by Mulally himself on Bloomberg Television and in Automotive News.
Motivation for the about-face comes from what Reuters calls a "growing confidence" in the current crop of Ford execs, led by Mark Fields. Fields, Ford's current chief operating officer, has been tipped as Mulally's ultimate successor, although he's far from the only person with eyes on Ford's top job. Normally, Ford's board saying they're open to an executive, that's done very well for the company, stepping down early would be nearly unremarkable. It's the timing of this announcement, though, that makes this a big piece of news.
Recently, Mulally has been the subject of rumors that he's interested in taking the CEO position at tech giant Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington-based company's CEO, Steve Ballmer, told the media in August that he'd be retiring in a year's time. The fires were stoked when tech website AllThingsD speculated that Mulally would take the top spot, despite denials from the man himself. Could Ford's current boss become the new top dog at Microsoft? Will Mark Fields replace him? Could recently departed Renault exec Carlos Tavares land at Ford in some capacity? Let us know what you think below in Comments.
Ford driving Alaskan maniac rams toddler-carrying SUV
Mon, Jul 25 2016A couple from Anchorage had a frightening traffic encounter when they were followed and repeatedly rammed by a stranger in a pickup truck. Grace Bernert, her boyfriend, and his two-year-old daughter were returning home from a trip to downtown Anchorage when they noticed a blue, 2001 Ford F-150 following closely behind them. "The guy was so close, we couldn't see his headlights," Bernert told KTVA. Bernert, who was riding shotgun, pulled out her phone to record the truck when it struck the rear end of their Acura SUV. That's when she called 911. Bernert's boyfriend tried to lose the F-150 in the Sullivan Arena parking lot, then drove to a local Ford dealer's parking lot where he drove through a maze of new Ford pickups in an attempt to shake their assailant. "We started doing circles around the brand new Fords because we thought the truck wouldn't be able to turn as fast as we would," said Bernert. "We were right, but the guy didn't care. He just kept hitting the new fords and backing up, coming after us." The truck continued to follow them, ramming the Acura again and again. Bernert estimates that F-150 driver struck their SUV between five and seven times, and hit numerous new trucks in the dealership parking lot. Eventually, they ducked into a nearby neighborhood where they managed to lose the F-150 and called 911. Bernert told KTVA that she believes they were targeted but doesn't know why. "The guy was either some random sick person who didn't care, or somebody who knew us and didn't care there was a kid in the car," she said. Anchorage Police arrived shortly after the couple escaped the F-150 and filed a report about the incident. They are currently investigating. Recent Video:
