Up for bid is a 1970 ford XL convertible, body is in good shape with no rust through ( only spot of rust is paint bubbling on left rear quarter panel in front of rear tire) . paint is shiney but not purfect. bumpers are straight but chrome is not purfect. engine is a 351 w and has been rebuilt, the last owner had the motor rebuilt with a larger cam,4 barrell carb, headers, duel exhaust, chrome air breather and valve covers. Car has a/c ( not working) p/s, pdb,auto trans.,bucket seats and console, clock, rim blow steering wheel. Interior in good shape except drivers seat is torn. Door panels,back seat, pass. seat and console is in good shape. The convertible top has a few tears but the glass back window is fine. The hide away headlights work good. The wheels are off a crown vick, they are 16 inch with new tires, I had The center caps made buy a local machine shop out of a soild piece of alluminum on a cnc machine. Ford recalling select Taurus, Explorer and Lincoln MKS models over fuel tanks
Sun, 31 Mar 2013Ford is recalling certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles built between July 19, 2011 and March 15, 2012 may have been built with fuel tanks that have a "marginally sealed seam" on the side. Those seams may not provide the strength necessary to protect the tank from rupture during a collision. They may also leak. The recall covers a total of 3,037 vehicles. NHTSA says that leaked fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could easily cause a fire.
Dealers will inspect the tanks and replace them as need be free of charge. Owners can expect to be notified once the campaign begins on or around April 22, 2013. You can read the full NHTSA recall notice below for more information.
Ford doubling 1.0L EcoBoost engine production
Fri, 06 Sep 2013Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine hasn't been around that long, but it sounds like the engine is getting to be fairly popular in the automaker's global car lineup. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford has add a second shift that will allow its German engine plant to double daily output from 500 engines to 1,000.
The increased capacity is part of a plan to sell more than 300,000 vehicles a year with this engine in Europe by 2015. Europe is currently the only market where the smallest of the EcoBoost engines is offered (including in the Focus pictured above), but US-spec Fiesta models will be getting this mill for 2014.
Three-cylinder engines are expected to continue to grow in popularity in coming years with the report indicating that global production of these engines will double by 2018 to 9.8 million units. General Motors, BMW and Mitsubishi are all expected to introduce three-cylinder engines in the near term, as well.
Ford board pushing Mulally for decision amidst fears story is drowning out other news
Thu, 12 Dec 2013Automakers and their executives rarely like to divulge information regarding future goings on, but the board of directors at Ford sound like they're getting a little antsy about chief executive officer Alan Mulally and his plans for 2014.
According to Reuters, as news of Mulally's possible departure to Microsoft continues to swirl, Ford's board is looking to push the affable executive to make a decision about his future sooner rather than later. Apparently, the board is growing concerned that this will-he/won't-he drama may end up distracting the media from covering Ford's other big news events next year - items like the debut of key all-new products like the Mustang and F-150.
So far, the picture for Mulally's eventual successor remains fuzzy, but it's understood that the leading candidate remains the company's chief operating officer, Mark Fields. Just recently, we heard that Mulally will stay until the end of 2014, but a few months ago, Ford seemed open to the idea of him stepping down earlier than that.
