1966 Ford Galaxie Convertible, Bucket Seats, Console No Reserve! 81k Red & White on 2040-cars
Richmond, Illinois, United States
|
V-8, 289 with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power convertible top (works fine) with zip out rear glass window, Boot, Bucket seats with Center Console, stereo w cassette player was added and original radio is still in the dash. Same owner since 1985. The car has been in storage for the past 15 years and just recently brought out. Family of the owner said they added new spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, vacuum advance and I believe she said the carb was rebuilt (and it does look clean) My Husband took the car and had the old gas drained, tank removed cleaned and reinstalled, cleared the lines and she fired right up! The old Galaxie runs goods but the car sat for 15 years so she still needs a mechanic to inspect everything (fluids, belts, brakes etc.) Before the car is approved for street driving. You know, Safety First! The car had a repaint back in the 80's. So yes the paint and body work should be redone and add or replace some trim if the new owner chooses as the exterior condition does show cosmetics such as dings, pings, scratches, chips, bubbles..etc. Please see pics! I did take close up pictures of cosmetics but it's hard to see. The owner said the white convertible top was new before the car was put into storage. It does not have holes or tares however the rear inside rail pads have come loose which is common and can be retucked or reattached. Underneath the car appears dirty but solid. The rear exhaust pipe or tail pipe will need replacing in time but it doesn't sound bad yet. Interior could also use a cosmetic help (such as split in seats & dash, faded carpet etc. ) if the new owner desires. The trunk weather strip is dry and peeling, doesn't leak, but could use a new one. I'm no expert and I only wiped the 15 yr old dust off this car but just trying to point out things that I see for your consideration that could use cosmetic reconditioning and perhaps I missed something so If you have any questions or need more pics feel free to ask. This car is privately owned with a clear title and on consignment with us as we are listing this car for a friend at NO RESERVE. The car will also be for sale locally so I may end the auction early. Thanks for looking! Lori This vehicle is listed locally and the auction may end at any time. The vehicle is currently in Richmond, IL., Approximately 60 miles NW of Chicago. 2016 Ford Focus RS shows up in Geneva, still bound for America [w/video]
Tue, Mar 3 2015Representing the super-hot hatchback movement at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, we have the 2015 Ford Focus RS, the third-generation to wear the performance-focused designation. Bound for America for the first time, it's fair to say we're darn excited for the Focus RS and its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. With at least 315 horsepower under the hood and the long-awaited inclusion of an all-wheel-drive system, there's little arguing that the RS will be seriously quick off the line. It should be darn good through the bends, too. The all-wheel-drive system packs a Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system that sends up to 70 percent of the power to the rear axle. On top of the AWD's torque vectoring ability, the Focus RS adds a brake-based torque vectoring system, which transfers power laterally, as needed. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires should only help keep the RS glued to the tarmac. A three-pedal setup is the sole transmission option, which should delight purists. According to Ford, both the clutch and the trans itself have been bolstered to handle the 2.3-liter's power. Ford also comprehensively upgraded the looks of the Focus RS relative to the lesser Focus ST. Its enormous rear wing and the back bumper's rear diffuser complement the car's menacing face. The ST's center-exit exhaust has been ditched for a meaty set of pipes, while the car on display in Geneva shows off a different set of alloys than what we saw during the car's original debut. Check out our full gallery of live photos of this hot Ford, available up top. And be sure to check out our Short Cut of the new hot hatch by scrolling down. Trump wants a trade deal, but South Korea doesn't want US cars
Thu, Jul 6 2017SEOUL - US auto imports from the likes of General Motors and Ford must become more chic, affordable or fuel-efficient to reap the rewards of President Donald Trump's attempts to renegotiate a trade deal with key ally South Korea, officials and industry experts in Seoul say. Meeting South Korean President Moon Jae-in last week in Washington, Trump said the United States would do more to address trade imbalances with South Korea and create "a fair shake" to sell more cars there, the world's 11th largest auto market. "What we really want to say to the United States is: Make good cars, make cars that Korean consumers like." While imports from automakers including Ford, Chrysler and GM more than doubled last year largely thanks to free trade deal which took effect in 2012, sales account for just 1 percent of a market dominated by more affordable models from local giants Hyundai and affiliate Kia. Imports make up just 15 percent of the overall Korean auto market, and are mainly more luxurious models from German automakers BMW and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz, which also benefit from a trade deal with the European Union. "Addressing non-tariff barriers would not fundamentally raise the competitiveness of US cars," a senior Korean government official told Reuters, declining to be identified because of the sensitivity of the subject. "What we really want to say to the United States is: Make good cars, make cars that Korean consumers like." TASTE BARRIER In Korea, US imports are seen as lagging German brands in brand image, sophistication and fuel economy, industry experts say. US imports do have a competitive advantage in electric cars: Tesla Motors' electric vehicles are seen as both environmentally friendly and trendy, while GM has launched a long-range Bolt EV. US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross had cited a quota in the current trade deal as an obstacle to boosting imports. The quota allows US automakers to bring in each year 25,000 vehicles that meet US, not necessarily Korean, safety standards. Should GM, for example, decide to bring in more than its quota of one model - the Impala sedans - it would cost up to $75 million to modify the cars to meet Korean safety standards, the company told its local labor union. Asked about non-tariff barriers, a spokesman at GM's Korean unit said removing them could expand the range of models the company can bring in from the United States. No US company, however, has yet to make full use of the quota, industry data shows.
Ford recalls 200K Escape, Transit Connect models over instrument panel
Thu, Jun 25 2015Ford is announcing two new recalls that cover a total of 203,494 vehicles in North America. By far the larger of the campaigns is a recall for 203,445 examples of the 2014-2015 Escape and Transit Connect in North America. Specifically, there are 182,520 units recalled in the US, 18,226 in Canada, and 2,699 in Mexico. For these models, the instrument cluster, warning messages, lights, and chimes might not work at startup. This problem puts the vehicles out of compliance with the federal motor vehicle code, and the fix is a software update. The other recall is minuscule and only affects 49 units of the 2015 Transit that are owned by a single fleet customer. The company's vans have a specially ordered front passenger seatbelt, but the parts aren't labeled correctly under the federal code. Everything works properly, though, according to Ford. The fix is simply a new decal with the required info. No accidents or injuries are known to be related to either of these two recalls. Related Video: FORD ISSUES TWO SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA DEARBORN, Mich., June 24, 2015 – Ford is issuing two safety compliance recalls in North America. There are no accidents or injuries attributed to these conditions. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety compliance recall for certain 2014-2015 Transit Connect and Escape vehicles for instrument panel issue Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 203,500 2014-2015 Transit Connect and Escape vehicles in North America for an issue with the instrument panel cluster. When starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster, warning chimes, messages and warning lights may not work, which is a compliance issue with FMVSS 101 and other applicable FMVSS requirements. If these displays don't work as intended, it could increase the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. Affected vehicles include certain 2014-2015 Transit Connect vehicles built at Valencia Assembly Plant in Spain, May 13, 2014 to Dec. 10, 2014 and certain 2014-2015 Escape vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant, May 19, 2014 to Feb. 6, 2015. There are 203,445 vehicles in North America, including 182,520 in the United States and federalized territories, 18,226 in Canada and 2,699 in Mexico. Dealers will update the instrument panel cluster software at no cost to the customer.
