Up for sale is this great Galaxie 500. My father and I purchased the car in 1993 with about 17,000 miles on it. Now it only has 25,800 ! It is very fun to drive. Never driven in winter while we owned her. Stored in heated shop. At some point before we purchased it, she was painted green. It's original color was silver. Paint shows very well. It had the original bias ply tires when purchased. Replaced with radial tires and smooth chrome wheels. The original exhaust has also been replaced with true duals with Borla tips. Has a sweet sound.  Carpet was done in early 2000's. Added some Auto Meter gauges for temp, volts and oil pressure. Other than that, she has gotten exercise and cruise miles with regular maintenance done every year. The 289 2 barrel purrs like kitten and the car just glides down the road. I have decided to sell because of too many other toys and projects taking up the time to give this great car the attention and driving she deserves.

Paint -  Very shiny. There is a "1/4 ding in the passenger door and some very light bubbling on the right rear panel. Some peeling in drivers side door jam that show's original silver color.

Chrome and trim - Bumpers in good condition. Stud on front left fender Galaxie 500 emblem is broken off. Other trim is good.

Interior - Original seats, door panels, dash are in great shape. There is a small tear in the headliner above passenger door. Clock and radio do not work. Carpet replaced.

Trunk- Very clean, but has some very light surface rust on left side.

Glass - Windows roll up and down well . Glass is in good condition. Windshield has a small rock chip.

Engine - Runs like a top. Just replaced fuel filter and did a oil change. The Cruise-O-Matic tranny shifts great. Hand made billet Jim Beam bottle coolant catcher.

Power brakes and steering.

Includes stock wheel covers, original spare tire , jack , original repair and owners manuals.

Being a 48 year old car, it is being sold " as is " with no warranty. I tried to describe it as accurately and honestly as possible.

Rowan Atkinson crashes at Goodwood Revival

Sun, 14 Sep 2014

To quote Harry Hogge (played by Robert Duvall) in Days of Thunder, "rubbin, son, is racin'." That can mean some unfortunate damage to high-end racing machinery, which may be repaired easily enough in stock car racing, but when it comes to vintage racing, the stakes can be that much higher. And yet incidents do occur, like at this weekend's Goodwood Revival.
Among the many competitors taking part in the retro racing event in England was none other than Rowan Atkinson, the actor perhaps best known for playing Mr. Bean. Driving a classic Ford Falcon Sprint in the Shelby Cup event, Atkinson (pictured above at the 2012 revival) reportedly crashed head-on into another car on track.
According to reports, the two cars up spun out. The driver in between managed to avoid a pile-up, but Atkinson couldn't steer clear and hit the obstructing vehicle. Fortunately Rowan walked away unscathed (and, we imagine, in a humorous manner), but while we don't know how extensive the damage was to the Falcon, it was enough to take it out of the race.

Ford books $1.2B profit in second quarter on strength of trucks

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rolling along nicely, with a positive second-quarter sales report and a $2.3 billion profit in North America. The Dearborn, Michigan-based manufacturer captured $1.2 billion globally from April to June, with a $177 million profit in Asia. Even in Europe, the land of doom and gloom for automakers not named Mazda, Ford saw some success as it lowered its expected full-year loss from $2 billion to $1.8 billion. The company lost $348 million in Europe during the second quarter, which, believe it or not, represents a $56-million improvement over 2012.
According to the report on CNBC, Ford enjoyed a three-percent increase in pre-market trading thanks to the news. The strong demand for the F-150 propelled growth in the US market, while Ford's 47-percent increase in Asian sales can be attributed to the new EcoSport crossover and Kuga (Ford Escape in the US) arriving in the somewhat fragile Chinese market.
Pre-tax profits for Ford are expected to be in the neighborhood of $8 billion by the end of the year, with sales the US, Europe, and China all looking up. The company also shifted $4.78 billion of asset-backed debt in the form of bonds, according to a report by Bloomberg. This move came amidst rumors of the Federal Reserve cutting back on its $85-billion-per-month bond purchases. Ford wasn't alone among automakers looking to sell off debt, though, as Mercedes-Benz and Nissan shifted around $1 billion each in bonds relating to auto loans.
